A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Taking Care of the Punks

Seraphina Sterling didn’t care what sort of nonsense was running through Terrence Grant’s head. All she knew was that she had the person she wanted in her grasp!

Seraphina Sterling casually bandaged Cheney up, just enough to make sure he wouldn’t die, then threw him back into his old den. There weren’t many hooligans in Tollan Town. Cheney had been the leader of this gang, but after he was taken, they had searched for over half a month with no results. Eventually, they elected Scar as their new leader.

It was Scar who had taken Willow Hale’s money to teach Seraphina a lesson on the road. He never expected to be the one taught a lesson by her instead. Afterward, they had turned their attention to Kimberly Jennings.

Anyone who harmed her family, regardless of who they were, whether they were just hired muscle or had hurt someone unintentionally—she would not let them go!

”It’s the chief!”

”It’s the boss!”

”The boss is back!”

...

”Boss, how are you? Where have you been all this time?”

”Stop asking so many questions! Can’t you see the boss is hurt? Hurry up and get him to the hospital!”

The man called Scar just watched quietly, momentarily forgetting to go up and ask what was happening. He had been the leader of these men for a long time and had gotten used to it. With Cheney suddenly reappearing, he was once again just a lackey following behind Cheney. For a moment, Scar couldn’t adjust.

Seraphina Sterling stood in the shadows, watching as the group rushed Cheney to the hospital. Everything was unfolding according to her plan. It was all going smoothly!

Seraphina Sterling packed some daily necessities, bought some fruit, and even took time off from school to go to the hospital and stay with Kimberly Jennings. She couldn’t just let May Wallace stand guard at the hospital all the time; the woman had a business to run!

After arriving at the hospital, Seraphina Sterling first asked about Kimberly Jennings’s condition. She was relieved to hear it was only a minor concussion and there would be no other issues. After she and Kimberly had finished eating, Cheney’s emergency treatment was also over. Out in the hallway, a group of men were arguing, their faces red with anger.

Seraphina Sterling walked over quietly, just in time to see Blondie and Scar start grappling with each other. Startled, she dropped the fruit platter in her hands and quickly fled the hallway!

”Scar, what’s your problem? Cheney needs money for the hospital, but you’re hoarding the cash Willow Hale gave you and won’t take it out. Don’t you want Cheney to get better?” Blondie punched Scar directly. He respected and supported Cheney the most, which was why he was so furious.

”Blondie, let’s talk this out. No matter what, Scar is our boss now!” Trey Lane, who was standing behind Scar, couldn’t watch any longer and stepped forward.

”Trey Lane, Cheney is back! Our boss now is Cheney!” Ox was Blondie’s underling; he only listened to Blondie!

”Blondie! What nonsense are you spouting? How could I not want Cheney to get better! Willow Hale only paid the deposit, she hasn’t given me the rest of the money yet. Where would I get the money to pay his hospital bills!” Scar did his best to hide his guilty conscience. ’Cheney’s not going to live much longer anyway, so why waste so much money on hospitalization!’

”Don’t fucking take me for a fool! You might be able to trick others, but you can’t trick me! Willow Hale already gave you all the money! Aren’t you just worried that if Cheney gets better, you won’t be the boss anymore? Who do you think you’re fooling with your petty schemes!” With that, Blondie threw another punch, holding nothing back, aiming to do serious damage.

”Blondie, you’ve fucking gone too far!” With that, Trey Lane and the other hooligans behind him who supported Scar joined the fight.

Meanwhile, the hooligans behind Blondie, led by Ox, also jumped into the fray.

In an instant, the hallway descended into chaos.

His thoughts exposed, Scar grew furious and struck back viciously. ”Stop fucking spouting nonsense! Am I the kind of person who forgets his debts? I’m thinking of everyone! This money isn’t just mine, it’s everyone’s! How could I just spend it all on my own authority!”

Although Scar fought back with all his might, he was no match for Blondie in a fight. Even using all his strength, he was completely pinned down by Blondie, unable to resist in the slightest.

Blondie got up and kicked him again. ”Don’t fucking use that as an excuse! The brothers aren’t ungrateful bastards! As long as we can save Cheney, I’m sure no one will care about this little bit of money!”

”Scar, just take out the money! Saving Cheney is what’s most important!” one of the hooligans shouted, trying to mediate as he saw everyone’s eyes turn red from fighting.

Scar spat out blood from the kick. Hearing his subordinate’s words, he grew even more furious. ’I’m their leader, and that Cheney is already on his deathbed, but they’re still taking his side!’

Scar picked up a fruit knife from the floor and lunged at Blondie, plunging it into his abdomen. ”I’m the boss! You all have to listen to me!”

Bright red blood trickled down the sharp blade. The beige floor was instantly stained crimson, and the air filled with the metallic tang of blood. The hallway fell silent; the fighting stopped.

”He... he killed someone!”

”Scar, you... you k-killed someone!”

Scar felt the warm liquid on the back of his hand and looked down dazedly, only then realizing what he had just done. Panicking, he yanked the fruit knife out. A SPLASH of crimson liquid sprayed across his face as he murmured, ”M-murder... I... I committed... committed murder!”

Just then, Ginny Gable arrived with a group of police officers and immediately apprehended Scar. ”You’re under arrest for murder with a deadly weapon in public. You’re coming with us.”

”You too. Brawling in public! Take them all back to the station!”

And just like that, the chaos was over.

As if he knew what had become of his subordinates, Cheney also breathed his last.

The hallway was quiet again. Seraphina Sterling, having rewashed two apples, emerged from around the corner. ’So many eyewitnesses,’ she thought. ’They’re all evidence. Even if no one in the hospital dares to testify, Blondie’s little brothers won’t let Scar get away with this. And even if Blondie’s guys are useless, the hospital’s security cameras aren’t just for decoration!’

’Tollan Town isn’t very developed, so there are few security cameras on the streets. But an important public place like a hospital is bound to have them!’

’Now that these hooligans have been dealt with, next up is Willow Hale!’
