Reborn into the 70: Turning Adversity into Her Dazzling Path

Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Where’s the promised aloofness?

”Kid, come here.”

Yang Yunhai, who was sitting there reading, waved at Yao Jingsong.

Through his observations this morning, he found that Gu Lingling was intentionally trying to temper Yao Jingsong’s impulsiveness.

This kid is too easily agitated.

”Brother Hai, you called me.” Yao Jingsong’s attitude towards Yang Yunhai was a complete turnaround, exceptionally good.

”Do you like reading military books?” Yang Yunhai asked with a smile.

Military books!

Oh my, can he really? Yao Jingsong was so excited he could jump.

”Come, sit down and read with me for a while.” Yang Yunhai tossed him a book, ”Tell me your thoughts when you’re done.”

Gu Lingling looked at the two people in the yard, somewhat lost in thought. Why does the scene seem a bit off?

Did she overlook something?

Wait, she still has food cooking in the pan.

She quickly rushed back to the kitchen, after all, Yang Yunhai wouldn’t harm Yao Jingsong.

But the conversation in the yard was still clearly audible to Gu Lingling.

”Finished reading?” Yang Yunhai asked lazily.

”Yes.”

”What are your thoughts?” His voice continued lazily.

”I... I’ll go write them down.” It was rare to hear Yao Jingsong at a loss for words, making Gu Lingling curious, standing at the window with a spatula, looking out at the yard.

”A good soldier not only needs courage but also intelligence.” Yang Yunhai pointed to his head, ”Otherwise, on the battlefield, not only would you lose your own life, but you’d also endanger your fellow soldiers.”

”I’ll study hard.” Yao Jingsong said loudly.

Gu Lingling smiled and continued cooking. Watching Tian Tian’s smiling face in the kitchen, Yang Yunhai’s lips couldn’t help but slightly curve upward.

Lunch for Yang Yunhai was handmade noodle pieces with chicken broth simmering on the coal stove; the siblings then bade farewell to Yang Yunhai, with Grandma Yao waiting at home for their return to eat.

Gu Lingling didn’t cook much, just enough for Yang Yunhai’s portion.

Taking care of Yang Yunhai was to repay a favor; they couldn’t shamelessly eat at someone else’s house.

A teenager’s appetite can drain the old man’s resources, let alone when there are two people.

Especially since these vegetables and grains were specially allocated by the military for Yang Yunhai’s recovery.

Gu Lingling feared she’d spoil Yao Jingsong’s palate; at Yang Yunhai’s place, it’s all fine noodles and good meat, but back home, he wouldn’t get such treatment.

It’s easy to go from frugal to luxurious, but hard to go from luxurious to frugal.

So when evening came and she was cooking, she explained this to Yang Yunhai, who met her with a stern face.

”What about me? You’ve also spoiled my palate, what should I do?”

Gu Lingling was speechless.

She was confident her cooking skills were better than the food at the military canteen.

”From now on, stay here for meals; I don’t like eating alone, it ruins my appetite.” Finally, Yang Yunhai said coldly.

After saying that, he didn’t bother with Gu Lingling and went straight back to his room.

”Brother Hai seems angry.” Yao Jingsong said with his head down.

Gu Lingling sighed.

When dinner was ready and they called him to eat, he finally came out with a stern face.

However, seeing the table with three sets of bowls and chopsticks improved his mood slightly.

So difficult to please!

Gu Lingling lamented inwardly; his stern face was indeed frightening.

It turns out the scene in the yard that morning was just her illusion.

”Why are you eating so little?” Yang Yunhai frowned, his appetite wasn’t even as big as Liu Yaxin’s.

Then, Gu Lingling looked at the bowl piled high with food.

Where’s the aloofness? The supposed clean freak?

He’s actually serving her food?

Gu Lingling stared blankly at Yang Yunhai, blinking her eyes, thinking it must be a trick of her vision.

But who piled this mountain of food?

If another girl were in her position, she’d certainly feel flattered, but Gu Lingling seemed only shocked, flattered? What’s that?
