Reborn into the 70: Turning Adversity into Her Dazzling Path

Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Strike Back

Before reaching the village entrance, they saw a group of people gathered there.

Wang Qingmei was protecting Gu Jiajia behind her, angrily staring at Wang Meili, ”Wang Meili, do you have any shame left? Two kids arguing, and an adult like you goes ahead and starts a fight.”

”What’s wrong with me, an adult? Jiajia is older than my Juanzi but shamelessly bullies my Juanzi. Look at what she did to my Juanzi?” Wang Meili pushed Gu Juan forward.

”Unlike some people who can’t lay an egg.”

Wang Qingmei and Gu Zhouhu had been married for two years and still hadn’t conceived a child. Wang Meili’s words stabbed Wang Qingmei’s heart like a knife.

Almost like pointing at Wang Qingmei’s nose and calling her a hen that doesn’t lay eggs.

”Wang Meili, I’m going to fight you today.” Wang Qingmei said angrily.

The two started to edge closer again, ready to fight.

”Stop right now.” Zhang Lanzhi, the women’s director, wasn’t one for show. She shouted with a dark face, and both sides finally quieted down.

Gu Lingling laughed when she saw Gu Juan’s condition.

Unexpectedly, quiet Gu Jiajia usually appeared silent but was quite strong in combat.

What they didn’t realize was it wasn’t that Gu Jiajia was fierce, but Gu Juan was too unruly in the village. Unlike Gu Jiajia, who had good relations and a mom who was the women’s director, the kids naturally sided with her.

”What’s going on? The educated youths are about to arrive, aren’t you ashamed?” Zhang Lanzhi glanced around and, seeing her daughter and sister-in-law were fine, finally relaxed.

”Lanzhi, you need to properly discipline your Jiajia; she’s almost of marriageable age, look what she did to my Gu Juan.”

”Such a temperament, how will she manage at her husband’s place later?”

”Who said my Jiajia is getting married?” If Wang Meili had said something else, maybe Zhang Lanzhi wouldn’t be so sensitive, but having heard Gu Lingling’s words and then Wang Meili’s.

She became even more convinced that something was wrong with Zhang Fulai.

And to Zhang Lanzhi’s ear, Wang Meili’s words sounded like thick sarcasm and mockery.

”People in Nanshui Village know clearly what my Jiajia is like; no need for you to teach.”

”Jiajia, what happened?” Zhang Lanzhi said angrily.

”Mom, Gu Juan insulted my Aunt Ruanqian; I told her to stop, but she said I was meddling like a dog chasing mice.” Seeing Zhang Lanzhi arrive, Gu Jiajia felt she had found her backbone.

”I... I was just stating the facts.” Gu Juan said, stiff-necked, ”Besides, what I say about my family isn’t your business.”

”You... Mom, she insulted my Aunt Ruanqian with... well, it was bad anyway.” Gu Jiajia stamped her foot angrily.

”Yes, we all heard it.” Several girlfriends who played well with Gu Jiajia nodded, ”Jiajia told her to watch her language, and Gu Juan called Jiajia a meddler.”

”Gu Juan, what did you say about my mom?” Gu Lingling trembled with anger.

Those words weren’t said by Gu Juan but overheard when Wang Meili privately insulted Yao Ruanqian.

Gu Juan had initially thought of retorting, but suddenly hearing Gu Lingling’s voice startled her.

It was the second time Gu Lingling had frightened her today.

Gu Juan glared hatefully at Gu Lingling, and before Wang Meili could pull her, she charged at Gu Lingling and shouted, ”Your mom is just a vixen, not even resting in peace after death, still seducing my dad into distraction, shamelessly vile woman, I have to insult her, stinking shameless vixen.”

’Slap’ sounded.

Gu Juan’s crazed voice ceased.

”Gu Lingling, you dare hit...”

’Slap’ sounded again.

”Lingling, stop it now.” Wang Meili’s voice.

Stop it?

She swore she wouldn’t be Gu Lingling nor Yao Ruanqian’s daughter if she didn’t tear Gu Juan’s mouth apart today.

’Slap, slap, slap...’

Gu Lingling’s hands moved swiftly with all her might, slapping Gu Juan’s face fiercely, ”I’ll make you insult my mom, I’ll make you insult my mom!”

She punched and pinched her body with fierceness.

She knew this woman’s weakest spots, where it hurt the most.

”Ah... it’s so painful...” Gu Juan cried out.

”Gu Lingling, you little witch, you’ve gone mad.” Wang Meili screamed.

Suddenly, Gu Lingling felt a sharp pain in her body, instinctively stepped back two steps, and fell against Zhang Lanzhi, ”Wang Meili, what do you think you’re doing?”
