Beast Taming: Reincarnated With The Ultimate Bond System!

Chapter 278: Chapter : 278 : Get Some Room You Two!

Kee sat on the low stool pulled right up to the side of the infirmary bed, close enough that his knee brushed the white sheet.

Mee lay propped slightly against the pillows, her long brown hair fanned out in a messy halo.

The room smelled faintly of healing salve, antiseptic, and the lingering lavender from Nurse Sera’s uniform.

Kee had shrugged off his crimson-and-gold blazer and draped it gently over her chest like a blanket.

The heavy fabric settled over her full C-cup breasts, covering the exposed cleavage.

Now his larger hand completely enveloped hers. He traced slow, feather-light circles over her knuckles with his thumb—over the fresh gauze taped across her burned fingers. Her skin felt impossibly soft beneath the bandages, warm and alive.

”Damn...” he murmured, voice low, almost awed. ”Your hand is really soft. This might be the longest I’ve ever held it.”

Mee’s cheeks flared scarlet. She tried to glare at him, but the effect was ruined by how small and shy her voice came out. ”S-shut up.”

She looked away—toward the holographic panel floating above the nurse’s desk at the far end of the room.

The duel feed was still playing: two new fighters clashing on the colosseum floor.

Nurse Sera sat at the desk—back to them—watching the match with casual interest, auburn bun slightly loosened, massive breasts straining her white uniform as she leaned forward.

Kee’s grin widened—mischievous, boyish. ”What can I say? My girlfriend is really cute when she’s embarrassed.”

He lifted her hand—still clasped in his—and pressed her palm gently to his cheek. Her fingers instinctively curled—thumb brushing the faint stubble along his jaw.

Mee’s breath hitched. ”You’re impossible.”

Kee tilted his head into her touch—eyes half-lidded, teasing. ”Impossible to resist, maybe.”

She huffed—trying to sound exasperated—but the sound came out soft, almost fond. ”God... you’re such a pervert.”

”Glad you finally realized.” He chuckled—low, warm—then turned his head to press a soft kiss to the center of her palm. ”Took you long enough.”

Mee’s blush deepened until her ears turned pink. She tried to pull her hand back—half-hearted—but he held on gently, thumb still tracing lazy patterns over her knuckles.

”You’re lucky I love you,” she muttered—looking anywhere but his face.

Kee’s grin softened—just a fraction. ”Well... I had to work very hard for it.”

”Work?” She finally met his eyes—narrowed, but sparkling. ”You mean teasing me for seventeenth straight years?”

”Exactly.” He leaned closer—voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. ”High-risk, high-reward strategy. Paid off.”

Mee rolled her eyes—then winced slightly as the motion tugged at the bandage on her forehead. ”You’re ridiculous.”

”And you’re adorable when you’re trying to be mad at me.” He lifted her hand again—this time kissing each bandaged knuckle one by one. ”Even all patched up and grumpy.”

”Stop...” she whispered—but her free hand reached out—hesitant—fingers brushing through his messy brown hair. ”You’re gonna make me cry again.”

Kee’s expression softened completely. He turned his hand so their fingers laced together—palm to palm.

”No more crying today,” he said quietly. ”You already did enough of that in the arena.”

Mee swallowed—eyes shimmering. ”I thought... I thought I wasn’t gonna make it back to you.”

He squeezed her hand—gentle but firm. ”You did. And you kicked ass doing it. Literally made a noble taste the dusk. I’m so fucking proud of you, Mee.”

Her lower lip trembled—then she smiled—small, watery, real. ”You’re not allowed to say sweet things after calling yourself my daddy five minutes ago.”

Kee laughed—soft, relieved. ”Can’t help it. You bring it out in me.”

She tugged him closer—until his forehead rested against hers. ”Idiot.”

”Love you too.”

They stayed like that—foreheads touching, breathing each other in—for several long moments. The holographic duel feed droned on in the background—mana explosions, crowd cheers—but it felt far away. Irrelevant.

Mee finally spoke—voice barely above a whisper. ”Kee?”

”Hmm?”

”When I’m better... will you still tease me?”

He pulled back just enough to look at her—grin returning, soft around the edges. ”Every single day. It’s my life’s mission.”

She huffed—then leaned in—pressing a shy, lingering kiss to the corner of his mouth. ”Good. I’d hate it if you stopped.”

Kee’s heart did something painful and warm in his chest. He kissed her back—soft, careful of her split lip—then rested his forehead against hers again.

”Deal.”

”Get some room, you two. I’m trying to concentrate here.”

Nurse Sera Veyne spoke up from her desk without turning around—voice low, sultry, laced with amused exasperation.

Mee squeaked—high-pitched, mortified—completely forgetting the nurse was still in the room.

Her face exploded crimson; she buried it instantly against Kee’s shoulder, pressing so hard her nose mashed into the fabric of his shirt.

The blazer he’d draped over her chest slipped slightly, threatening to reveal more of her creamy cleavage.

Kee felt her tremble—half embarrassment, half leftover adrenaline—and couldn’t resist.

He tilted his head down—lips brushing the top of her ear—voice dropping to that teasing, velvet murmur he knew drove her insane.

”Aw... did the big bad nurse scare my brave little fighter?” His thumb resumed its slow circles over her knuckles—gentle, maddening. ”You were just confessing your undying love a second ago. Where’d all that courage go?”

Mee’s muffled groan vibrated against his collarbone. ”Shut... up...”

Sera finally glanced over her shoulder—golden cat-slit eyes sparkling with wicked delight.

She leaned one elbow on the desk—massive breasts pressing against the white uniform fabric as she propped her chin in her hand.

”Don’t mind me,” she purred, lips curving. ”I’ve seen worse. Far worse. Though...” Her gaze flicked to the way Mee’s fingers were still laced tightly with Kee’s, then to the protective drape of his blazer over her chest. ”...this is disgustingly sweet. Almost makes me wanna puke rainbows.”

Mee peeked one eye out—face still flaming. ”Y-You’re not helping...”

Sera laughed—rich, throaty. ”Sweetheart, if I wanted to help, I’d lock the door and dim the lights. But alas...” She waved a manicured hand toward the glowing holographic duel feed still playing silently above her desk. ”...duty calls. Some of us have to pretend to work while teenagers defile my infirmary with puppy love.”

Kee grinned—unrepentant—lifting Mee’s hand to press another soft kiss to her bandaged knuckles. ”Hear that, Mee? We’re defiling. Should we stop?”

Mee’s free hand flew up—covering her burning face. ”Kee—!”

He chuckled—low, warm—then leaned in closer, lips brushing the shell of her ear again. ”Relax. She’s just jealous. Look at her—she’s been staring at us more than the duel feed for the last five minutes.”

Sera arched one perfect brow—lips quirking higher. ”Boi, I’ve been staring because you two are louder than the crowd outside. And cuter. It’s distracting.”

Mee whimpered—burying her face deeper into Kee’s shoulder. ”Kill me now...”

Kee’s arm slid around her back—gentle, protective—rubbing slow circles between her shoulder blades. ”Nah. I just got you. Not letting you go that easy.”

Sera snorted—turning back to the hologram, though her smirk lingered. ”Young love. Disgusting. Adorable. Keep it PG-13 while I’m still in the room, yeah? I’ve got standards.”

Kee’s grin turned wicked. He lowered his voice—whispering just loud enough for Mee to hear, but not Sera. ”She says PG-13... but I’m pretty sure she’d watch if we went further.”

Mee’s head snapped up—eyes wide, scandalized. ”Kee!”

He laughed—soft, genuine—then pressed a quick, chaste kiss to her forehead—right above the bandage. ”Kidding. Mostly.”

Mee huffed—trying to glare—but the effect was ruined by how her fingers tightened around his, how she leaned into his chest instead of pulling away. ”You’re the worst.”

”And you’re still holding my hand,” he teased—lifting their joined fingers to kiss her wrist. ”Guess you like the worst.”

She looked away—cheeks still flaming—but a tiny smile tugged at her lips. ”Maybe.”

Sera’s voice floated over without turning. ”I can still hear you, lovebirds.”

Kee called back—grinning. ”Good. Maybe you’ll learn something.”

Sera laughed again—shaking her head. ”Boi, I know more about romance than you’ll ever know. Now hush. Your girlfriend needs rest, not your terrible flirting.”

Mee mumbled into his shoulder—barely audible. ”She’s not wrong...”

Kee’s thumb resumed its slow circles over her knuckles. ”Rest then.”

”Boi... If I remember correctly,” she drawled, ”your fight is up right after this one.”

Kee and Mee locked eyes.

Mee’s voice came out soft, almost fragile.

”Kee... Show them hell. I’ll be fine.”

Kee exhaled through his nose, the sound heavy. ”I’ll take you up on that.”

Mee turned her head toward Sera.

”Nurse Veyne... could you maybe look the other way for a second?”

Sera’s lips curved, slow and teasing.

”Ohhh my. Sure, darling.”

She turned her face toward the window, deliberately dramatic, one hand resting lightly over her eyes like she was posing for a photoshoot.

Mee’s gaze flicked back to Kee.

In the next heartbeat she leaned forward, cupped his face with both hands, and kissed him—deep, urgent, like she was pouring every unsaid thing into it.

Kee froze for half a second, then kissed her back just as hard, one hand sliding to the nape of her neck, the other gripping the edge of the bed like it was the only thing keeping him grounded.

When they finally broke apart, both were breathing hard, foreheads pressed together.

”What... was that?” Kee managed, voice rough.

Mee’s laugh was small and shy, cheeks flushed. ”Good luck.”

She paused, then added even quieter,

”Now go.”

Kee nodded once—sharp, decisive.

He stood, crossed the two steps to the door, and paused with his hand on the handle. His eyes never left her.

”Ms. Veyne,” he said without turning, ”please look after her.”

Sera dropped the playful act for a moment, voice steady. ”Rest assured, lover boy. Your adorable little girlfriend is safe with me.”

Kee gave a short, grateful nod.

”Thanks.”

The door clicked shut behind him.

Silence settled over the room.

Mee let out a long, trembling breath and sank back against the pillows. She pulled Kee’s blazer up over her face until only her eyes were visible, burying her nose in the collar. His scent—clean sweat, faint cedar, something unmistakably him—wrapped around her like a second heartbeat.

”I hope he’ll be okay,” she whispered into the fabric.

Sera studied her for a long moment, all traces of sultry mischief gone.

”You love him a lot.”

Mee gave the tiniest nod, eyes still hidden in the blazer. ”Hm.”

”How long?”

Mee’s voice came out muffled, almost childlike. ”Since I can remember.”

Sera let out a quiet breath that might have been a laugh, might have been something softer.

”Good.”

She pushed off the wall and moved toward her.

”Then he’s got something worth coming back for. And trust me, sweetheart—boys like that don’t lose when they’ve got a reason like you waiting.”

Mee blushed before speaking again, ”Well... He will definitely win. T-there’s something special about him...” Then her blushed further, paniking, ”And... It’s not because I love him.”

Sera gave an amused smile, curious now. ”Then...?”

”You’ll see when the fight starts. Surprises are better kept hidden.” Mee smiled innocently toward her.
