Reincarnated as a Lizard

Rumble~

Feeling a strange sensation washing over her the moment she finished eating the heavenly lake serpent heart, Scaly could feel something starting to change inside of her body at a terrifying speed.

Although she had no idea what it was, she clearly felt that she was starting to grow drowsy in a way not much different from how she went through her evolutions in the past, the only difference being that there was no overwhelming pain to knock her out on the spot. Instead, it was just a slow drowsiness that she slowly felt taking over. Making it harder and harder for her to move her body.

No! I can’t fall asleep inside the heavenly lake serpent!

Understanding very well that she wasn’t in a place where she could just carelessly fall asleep, but instead in the middle of what was about to be a battlefield between the stuck mole lord and the heavenly lake serpents +1 oversized spider.

Bang-Bang-Bang!

ROOOOAR!

Roooar~

Just listening to the chaos outside the dead body made it clear that her situation was becoming more dangerous by the second.

NOooo-!

However, no matter how hard she tried, she had no way to fight back against the drowsiness, as she only managed to take a few steps in the direction of the tunnel she had dug through the dead body before she collapsed on the fleshy interior and felt the world growing dark around her.

If just I knew... I could have taken the heart out with me and eaten it in a safer location...

Along with these last thoughts, Scaly fell asleep. Unable to fight off the drowsiness that had come after she ate the heavenly lake serpent heart.

...

ROOOAR-!

At the same time, outside the dead body of the heavenly lake serpent located somewhat off to the side of the battle taking place with the mole lord at the center, Scaly was unable to see how the mole lord singlehandedly managed to hold off the countless enemies on its own. Relying on powerful earth magic.

Rumble-!

Creating countless earth spikes all around itself to fend off any heavenly lake serpent daring enough to approach it-

Rooo-

Ptsh-!

Soon enough managing to kill a second heavenly lake serpent in the process. Forcing the heavenly lake serpents to slow their approach to focus on trying to avoid the countless spikes emerging from the ground below them.

Swish~!

However, different from the heavenly lake serpents that were struggling to get anywhere close to the pinned down mole lord, the titan spider managed to swiftly move through the countless earth spikes shooting out of the ground. Moving with a grace unbefitting of its massive size.

Seeing this and knowing that it couldn’t afford to be careless against this powerful opponent that was clearly stronger than the heavenly lake serpents, the mole lord seemed to gather all its mana before pouring it into the ground below it.

RUMBLE-!

Soon enough, causing the massive section of the foundational cave pillar that had fallen on top of it and pinned it to the ground to start shaking ever so slightly before the part of it pinning it to the ground broke off and flew towards the approaching titan spider at a speed far too fast for it to dodge.

BANG!

As a result, the massive titan spider was sent tumbling to the ground with one of its legs having been torn off by the powerful impact. Making it difficult for it to get back up and charge towards the now free mole lord.

ROOOAR-!

Rooar!

ROooar!

Of course, even if the titan spider couldn’t continue the attack, the heavenly lake serpents who had been slowly approaching so far jumped at the opportunity to strike. Understanding that the move to free itself and knock the titan spider out of the battle had left it without any mana to continue creating earth spikes to threaten them.

Swish-!

Bang!

Understanding this as well, the mole lord was just about to dig into the ground to escape when one of the heavenly lake serpents managed to reach it and knock it flying. Stopping it before it had a chance to dig into the ground and escape.

Not just that, but the others were following close behind. Making it impossible for it to get the time needed for it to dig into the ground and escape. Forcing it to turn its attention towards one of the more concealed entrances to its tunnel network located not too far away from its current location.

The location in question just so happened to be right next to the dead body that Scaly was currently sleeping peacefully inside of. Shifting the entire battle towards her direction. Not that it mattered much anyway, as she had no idea what was happening.

CHOMP-!

However, unexpectedly, before the mole lord rushed into the hidden entrance to its underground tunnel network, it grabbed the tail of the dead heavenly lake serpent with Scaly inside of it before dragging it down into the tunnel below. Clearly intending on eating it to make recovery easier.

Roar...?

Roar!?

ROOOOOOOOOOOAR-!

And to no one’s surprise, the heavenly lake serpents all entered an enraged state when they saw the dead body of their companion being dragged into the tunnel by the mole lord.

Unfortunately, no matter how much they wanted to chase after the mole lord and retrieve the dead body of their friend, none of them were willing to follow the mole lord into the tunnel.

All of them understood very well just how dangerous it was to enter this demon beast’s domain, as it could easily cause the ceiling to collapse on top of them at any moment and bury them alive the next second.

For this reason, they could only stand outside the entrance to the tunnel roaring angrily at the death of their companion before ultimately being forced to leave as the battle seemed to have attracted the attention of other powerful monsters who might be looking to attack them if they stood around long enough for a large enough number to gather.
