Reincarnated as a Lizard

Continuing to follow behind the titan spider and the last heavenly lake serpent for what felt like hours, Scaly finally saw the two of them come to a complete stop just when they were about to get out of view and disappear.

Thinking that they had reached the location where the rest of the heavenly lake serpents might be living, Scaly could not help feeling a bit excited as she began to approach the two now completely frozen monsters. Not even bothering to think twice about why the two monsters had suddenly come to a stop outside of them reaching the entrance to the heavenly lake serpent home.

[Mole Lord, lvl 42]

[Description: Lord of Moles, a powerful monster resembling a normal mole. The main difference being its size that easily rivals that of the titan spider. Even though it has bad vision, it is well known for its powerful earth magic making it a far scarier opponent than the titan spider that only has its massive size.

As a lord, it normally has followers or subordinates, but it isn’t always the case, as some mole lords tend to be reclusive and without any other mole monsters around to follow them.]

Only when she managed to get a bit closer did she realize that the reason why the two monsters had suddenly come to a stop was not because they had reached the location where the rest of the heavenly lake serpents lived. Instead, it was because another even stronger monster had stopped them.

For now, it looked like the two sides were stuck staring at each other with neither party making the first move. Clearly, even though the mole lord was the superior one between the titan spider and itself, it also had to take the heavenly lake serpent right next to it into consideration.

Not to mention, even looking from afar, Scaly could clearly see that some of the heavenly lake serpents that had gone ahead of the two were already starting to turn around and make their way back in case a fight broke out.

No matter how she looked at it, the situation for the mole lord would only get worse as time continued to pass and more of the heavenly lake serpents began to figure out that something was happening behind them.

However, even with all of this, the mole lord didn’t seem to mind in the slightest as it continued blocking the path for the titan spider and the still rather bloated heavenly lake serpent.

Wait... The description mentioned that the mole lord has bad vision- Could it be that it hasn’t noticed any of the heavenly lake serpents!?’

Suddenly realizing what could very well be the reason for the mole lord’s inaction, Scaly could not help feeling a bit worried about the mole lord.

Even though it was clearly the strongest among all the monsters present, its bad vision was a significant disadvantage that seemed to have rendered it incapable of discovering the danger approaching from behind while it remained focused on the titan spider and the heavenly lake serpent in front of it.

Continuing to slowly move closer hoping to potentially take advantage of the upcoming conflict to kill a certain bloated heavenly lake serpent not too far away from her, Scaly soon realized that the reason why this staring competition had been going on for such a long period of time was not because the mole lord was unwilling to move out of the way, but instead because it was unable to do so.

Part of a large stone pillar, like the ones she had seen before crossing the underground ocean hours earlier, had collapsed on top of one of the mole’s back legs. Pinning it in place, while at the same time rendering it unable to move out of the way.

Not just that, but its inability to move also made it a clear target in the eyes of the titan spider, who would certainly benefit immensely if it managed to take down the mole lord.

Unfortunately, the mole lord was not known for its strong physical ability, but its powerful earth magic, which remained unaffected.

Even if it was just sitting ducks now and couldn’t move, the titan spider didn’t dare to underestimate its opponent and had thus been locked in a silent stare down for the past few minutes.

Whoosh-!

PTSH-!

The reason for this cation was soon proven valid, as one of the heavenly lake serpents approaching the mole lord from behind happened to get too close and was directly impaled by an earth spike that had emerged directly below its head. Killing it on the spot without giving it any time to react or defend itself against the sudden and deadly attack.

ROOOAR-!

Seeing the sudden and brutal killing of another heavenly lake serpent, the bloated one standing beside the titan spider let out a painfilled angry roar as it looked towards the mole lord with killing intent.

However, even filled with unimaginable killing intent over the killing just now, it didn’t dare take a step forward, as the dead heavenly lake serpent just now was a perfect example of what would happen if it did so.

Because of this, the silent staring contest continued. Only to be broken up whenever new heavenly lake serpents appeared and noticed their dead companion with a spike through its head.

Of course, being smarter, the heavenly lake serpents showing up later didn’t dare to recklessly approach the injured mole lord and soon enough joined the bloated heavenly lake serpent and the titan spider staring down the mole lord. Making it clear to the other party that they were intending to wait until the moment it lowered its guard to strike.

Unfortunately for the mole lord, there was nothing it could do about its current situation, as trying to free itself from the broke pillar section pinning it down would present just such an opportunity to the titan spider and heavenly lake serpents now slowly starting to surround it on all sides.
