Reincarnated as a Lizard

Ptsh-!

Kieee-!

Not detecting the water spear that suddenly appeared and stabbed into it, the spider could only let out a painful scream as it collapsed on the ground with blood leaking out from the wound left behind by the water spear.

This... It survived!?

Seeing that the spider was still alive and looked like it was about to get up again after having taken her water spear head on, Scaly could not help showing a look of disbelief on her small face.

At this moment, she understood that dealing with the spider in front of her would not be as easy as she had hoped. Especially considering that the spider was looking in her direction filled with killing intent as it slowly got back up!

Water Spear!

Using most of the mana left in her small body, Scaly conjured another water spear before sending it flying towards the spider that had still not managed to get back up yet. Understanding very well that her chances of winning against the spider would decrease to a near zero if it managed to reach her.

Whoosh~

Bang!

As the water spear flew towards the spider, Scaly could not stop a feeling of helplessness from welling up as the spider suddenly used one of its legs to pick up a nearby rock from the ground and block the water spear before it could reach its target.

Swish-!

Even if the spider’s current condition was bad and it was constantly losing blood with each passing second, Scaly felt her chances of winning decrease even further as the spider got up before using all of the strength it could muster to charge towards her filled with killing intent...

No! I can’t just give up to a little spider like this! Even if I don’t have any mana left to use magic, my vitality and physical power is still more than powerful enough to contend with a little spider!

Narrowing both of her eyes as she renewed her confidence in herself, Scaly prepared her small pair of claws while carefully watching the spider approaching. Waiting for an opportunity to land a final blow on the already heavily injured spider.

Kieee-!

Arriving in front of Scaly within seconds after she had prepared herself for the upcoming battle without the help of her magic, the spider used the small hooks located at the ends of its long legs to dig into Scaly’s body and prevent her from escaping.

Roar~!

Unconsciously letting out a rather cute sounding roar in response to the small hooks digging into her body, Scaly used her claws to directly cut off the two legs that had managed to grab onto her before the spider had enough time to bite down on her.

This- My claws are sharper than I expected...

Seeing how easily she managed to cut through the thin and weak-looking legs of the spider with her claws, Scaly felt like she had gained a much-needed boost in confidence as she no longer felt any fear towards the spider.

Swish-!

Knowing how sharp her claws were, Scaly went on the offensive against the spider-

Ptsh-!

Catching it off guard as she managed to cut off a few more of its legs before using its decreased movement to get close enough to use her sharp claws to stab through the head of the spider. Killing the already heavily injured spider in an instant!

[*Ding* Reached level 13]

So exhausting...

Feeling an overwhelming sense of exhaustion washing over her the moment she killed the spider, Scaly used her last remaining strength to crawl into a nearby empty hole to hide away inside of before she felt the world around her turning dark as she fainted.

...

Hm~! What happened- Ah! The spider!

Waking up inside the small hole she had found to hide away inside of before fainting, Scaly quickly checked her surroundings before seeing that the spider she had killed before fainting had already disappeared. Only a few parts of its skeleton were still left outside her temporary hiding spot...

However, this was not the most important thing on Scaly’s mind. Instead, it was the large monster that had decided to lay down just outside her hiding spot!

[Cave Troll, lvl ??]

[Description: A troll that lives in caves, a tough opponent even for skilled adventurers who encounters it due to its terrifying regenerative power being able to almost heal any wounds in a few seconds. Even lost limbs can be recovered if given enough time! The favorite past time snack of cave trolls are small lizards, they prefer brightly colored ones.]

”...”

Reading the description of the large creature that had laid down just outside her hiding spot, Scaly had no idea what to say. Especially after reading the last part of the description. For some reason, she had a feeling that it was specifically talking about her!

Well... There is no way for me to leave for now, I should check out my status now that my level increased and see if anything changed after my battle with the spider...

Understanding that she would not be able to leave now that a terrifying cave troll that apparently preferred to eat small lizards like herself, Scaly decided to spend her time looking through her status to see if anything had changed after her first real fight without using her magic.

Hm? This is- A new skill!? Claw Strike... From the name alone, it should be a skill related to using my claws...

Not expecting to actually get a new skill after her fight with the spider, Scaly could not help showing a surprised expression on her face when she actually found out that she did manage to get a new skill from her fight. Not only that, but it was also her first real combat skill that did not involve magic!
