Reincarnated as a Lizard

The human going by the name Eric, walked for a long time before finally reaching the rest of his group.

The group of humans numbered as much as five! All of them were armed and dangerous looking. They could definitely take care of a small, unarmed lizard the size of their fist, with the human called Eric acting as the leader of the group.

One thing was certain for Scaly after following behind the humans.

I am exhausted! Humans move way too quickly, and my small lizard feet can’t follow them at all!

The group of humans luckily did not look like they were going to move any time soon as the scary human called Eric, was inspecting what looked like a giant footprint on the ground. Maybe that was left behind by the giant lizard?

Well, for now, Scaly just hid beneath the shade of a bush and rested. Waiting for the humans to move again. Hopefully, they would not walk for a long time, or poor she would end up dying from exhaustion before anything could happen.

Time passed by and Scaly felt the exhaustion catching up, sleep slowly taking over as she could not even put up a fight before drifting off into dreamland.

...

”Eric, I think we should be able to find the giant earth lizard if we move south. From the looks of it, the giant earth lizard should have just eaten and is looking for a place to rest.”

Waking up, Scaly managed to hear the voice of one of the five humans.

Wait, when did I even fall asleep in the first place?

Thinking this to herself as she inspected her body, Scaly only calmed down after seeing nothing was wrong with her small lizard body.

Well, I was quite exhausted from moving so much... The humans are moving now, and it looks like they have an idea where they can find the giant lizard! Finally, I will also find out whether the giant lizard they are hunting is the same one that snatched my prey 2 days ago...

Even though the chances of it being the same one being quite high. Scaly had to confirm it for herself as she followed the group of humans.

’Well, I wouldn’t be able to take care of the giant earth lizard myself for now, but at least I should be able to witness it’s death, that is better than searching for it in the future and not finding it... With it gone, nobody would be able to stop me at the first floor of this dungeon as well! I will be able to hunt freely at that time!

Thinking about this, Scaly could not help but feel happy at the thought of being able to hunt freely without any disturbances from a certain giant earth lizard appearing and scaring her from time to time.

”It’s here!”

Interrupting Scaly’s thoughts, one of the humans at the front had a fear stricken look on his face as he pointed towards the trees a few meters away from the group of humans.

Stomp Stomp!

Two heavy stomps echoed across the forest as a giant lizard more than 2 meters tall and 10 meters long showed itself from behind the trees.

ROAAAR!

The giant lizard sounded nothing like a lizard as it gave off an angry roar before quickly moving towards the still shocked human at the front of the group.

It is indeed the giant earth lizard that stole my prey! But how will the humans deal with it?

Curious about how the relatively smaller humans would deal with such a giant lizard, Scaly turned towards the human group and watched with interest from the side as the five humans soon regained their bearing and drew their weapons before charging towards the giant lizard. Eric jumping forward as he was the first to appear in front of the giant lizard.

What followed, was what Scaly could only describe as a clash between monsters. One in the shape of a giant lizard while the other was in the shape of a human.

...

ROAR!

The giant earth lizard used what magic it could, causing dozens of rock spears to erupt from the ground as they flew towards the incoming group of humans.

The earth spears managed to pierce through the legs of 2 humans charging over before being blocked by a defensive barrier cast out by the human called Peter.

Peter then began to cast several earth spells as well, forcefully stopping the giant earth lizards earth spears with his own, causing no small amount of frustration to the giant lizard.

ROAAAR!

The fight between the human mage Peter’s earth magic and the earth lizard’s earth magic continued for a little while before the scary human, Eric, finally managed to reach the giant earth lizard.

”DIE!”

Lifting a giant greatsword that he had been carrying on his back before encountering the giant lizard high into the air, Eric swung down his sword directly at the head of the giant earth lizard.

Swish~

Blood splashed out from an open wound on the side of the giant earth lizards head as it let out an angry roar before raising its giant claw, swiping down towards Eric, who raised his greatsword to block the incoming claw of the giant lizard.

Bang!

”April, now!”

Barely holding back, the giant earth lizard’s sharp claw, Eric screamed at the top of his lungs as he tried his best to hold on against the terrifying strength of the giant lizard.

”Y-yes!”

A human female who had remained unharmed unlike the two others charging over together with Eric and Peter, timidly answered to Eric’s yell, as she quickly readied her bow and fired a glowing arrow directly towards the distracted giant lizard.

BOOOOM

The arrow pierced directly into the eye of the giant earth lizard and exploded. Killing the giant earth lizard in an instant.

...

’W-what was that?!’

I honestly had no idea what I just witnessed. The giant earth lizard was killed just like that!

Humans are indeed scary, only two of them got hurt at the start and they easily managed to take care of such a powerful lizard! Looks like I will need to become even stronger before I can stay alive outside where humans are abundant...

Scaly had no idea how strong humans were, but if there were more humans like Eric and the rest of his group... Scaly dared not think of it and decided that it would be best to become stronger before exiting the dungeon.

Yes...! For now, I can just freely hunt the oversized rats without worrying about the giant lizard anymore and the humans should leave soon as well. Now that the giant lizard is gone.

Feeling satisfied, Scaly decided to leave the humans and return to hunting oversized rats and level up like before.

It was only a few days after the death of the giant lizard, that Scaly would finally know what hell was...
