Miracle Doctor Baby

Chapter 1727: Chapter 1029. Sanzu River (2)

Chapter 1029

”You didn’t request anything in return, yet you selflessly healed my grandson and even helped my old companion to recuperate. Although I am just a wisp of a soul, back then I saw that you didn’t look like this, but I remembered the aura of your soul! During that period, I would go back almost every day to see them. From their mouths, I learned that you’re called the Asura Nine Doctors. Now, my grandson and old companion are both doing well! But what about you?” Elder Zhou looked at Mo Jiuli with some confusion and asked.

”I see, I just encountered some unexpected events! Elder Zhou, can you return to the Human World at will?” Mo Jiuli asked curiously.

”Yes, I can return, but each time it consumes a lot of soul power, and I can only stay for a short while in the evening! During that time, I often went back because I was worried about my old companion and grandson. Now that I know they’re fine, I don’t go back anymore. After all, they are in a different world now, separated by life and death. Ninth Doctor Lord, you are my great benefactor. Without you, I would never have peace, thank you so much!” Elder Zhou said sincerely.

”Elder Zhou, there’s no need to be so formal. Just call me Jiuli. I just have some medical skills!” Mo Jiuli said with a slight smile.

”Alright, Jiuli, what brings you to Santu City?” Elder Zhou asked.

”I’m going to the Netherworld Residence!” Mo Jiuli said.

”The Netherworld Residence? That’s quite far. It’s separated from Santu City by eighteen cities!” Elder Zhou said in response.

”Yes, I know, and I’m in no hurry. I’ll take my time getting there!” Mo Jiuli said.

”In that case, when I reach Santu City, I’ll discuss with the other ferrymen and then escort you to the Netherworld Residence, so I can feel more at ease!” Elder Zhou suggested after pondering.

”There’s no need for formality, Elder Zhou. I’m fine, no need to worry!” Mo Jiuli quickly replied.

”It’s alright. No matter which city you head to, you’ll need to cross the river. We ferrymen are accustomed to one place and don’t like moving, but sometimes we do change places for ferrying. It’s quite an easy task!” Elder Zhou smiled and continued, ”However, I can only wait for you at the Sanzu River; I can’t accompany you into the city, so you’ll still need to rely on yourself for protection!”

”Elder Zhou, why must each city be crossed by a river?” Mo Jiuli asked with some curiosity, recollecting that Uncle Yama had mentioned it to her before, but she hadn’t had the chance to ask in detail.

”That’s because every city in the Netherworld has a hierarchy, with a total of eighteen cities. Apart from the Netherworld Residence, along with Santu City, there are a total of seventeen cities, and Santu City ranks seventeenth! To reach the Netherworld Residence, you must proceed sequentially from the seventeenth-ranked Santu City to the 16th City, then the 15th City... and finally to the Netherworld Residence! The cities of the Netherworld are built in an alternating fashion, with Santu City on the opposite bank from us, and the 16th City across the river from Santu City. Cities 15 and 13 are odd-numbered and on the same bank, but regardless of who you are, to go to the 15th City, you must enter it through the 16th City! Hence, no matter which city you head to, you’ll have to cross a river...” Elder Zhou explained to Mo Jiuli.

”I see, isn’t it possible that this rule is just a way to collect soul pearls?” Mo Jiuli speculated with some bewilderment.

”Nobody really knows the exact reason; it’s merely the rule of the Netherworld!” Elder Zhou sighed and remarked.
