Chapter 1705: Chapter 1007. Ghost City (1)

Chapter 1007

”I know, I won’t act recklessly!” Mo Jiuli nodded and said.

The next day, accompanied by Elder Fan and Lingling, they followed Dawen and Xiaowen, bidding farewell to Ning City Lord and leaving Huangquan City to head to Ghost City! There are four cities between Huangquan City and Ghost City, but with Dawen and Xiaowen leading them, they arrived at Ghost City in less than a day...

Upon arriving at Ghost City, it was discovered that it was much larger than Huangquan City and correspondingly more prosperous. Even the souls here, if not closely examined, could be mistaken for humans living here...

”Isn’t it surprising? If you don’t look closely, you’d think this is the Human World!” Xiaowen looked at Mo Jiuli and said.

”Yes, it is indeed surprising. Why is Ghost City like this?” Mo Jiuli asked curiously.

”Because the Yama of the Ghost World and the Netherworld King were good friends, and it is said that the Netherworld King’s wife was a deity from the Divine World. Thus, it is said that the Main City of the Netherworld resembles the Human World. Yama used to frequently visit the Netherworld to report to the Netherworld King, and he particularly liked the city where the Netherworld King and his wife lived, so he established Ghost City here, building it to resemble the Human World...” Xiaowen patiently explained.

Hearing this, Mo Jiuli’s eyes twinkled, and she casually asked: ”And how about now? Does the Netherworld King still come back to the Ghost World?”

”Alas... Now, the Ghost World hasn’t had contact with the Netherworld for years. It is rumored that the previous Netherworld King, the one with the close relationship with Yama, and his wife, were plotted against and fell. Therefore, Yama later ordered a ban on souls from the Ghost World travelling to the Netherworld, completely severing ties! Fortunately, the previous Netherworld King was close with Yama, and the Netherworld King’s wife was an extremely Heaven-defying Array Master. Back then, she set up a protective Array formation for the Ghost World, so despite the current Netherworld King’s coveting of Ghost City, he is unable to break the array and come...” Dawen said with a sigh.

”I see! Do you know who the current Netherworld King is?” Lingling asked curiously.

”Not sure, but it was once rumored to be a confidant of the previous Netherworld King! The specifics have long been forgotten, probably only Yama knows! Ning City Lord advised you not to be impulsive and attempt to sneak into the City Lord’s Mansion to peek at the Book of Life and Death because the City Lord’s Mansion, where Yama resides, has many arrays left by the previous Netherworld King’s wife, which could cause soul dispersal if one is not careful...” Xiaowen said, looking at her.

”Rest assured, I know and won’t act recklessly!” Mo Jiuli smiled and said.

However, what she thought was entirely different; no wonder she felt familiar and unrepelled upon entering the Ghost World. It seems she might have been here before! Perhaps she should infiltrate the City Lord’s Mansion to meet with Yama; maybe then she could find out what happened to her parents...

Nevertheless, what Mo Jiuli was thinking, aside from Lingling, was not disclosed to Dawen, Xiaowen, or Elder Fan, to prevent them from worrying! Dawen and Xiaowen led Mo Jiuli and the others to a familiar inn to stay...

Staying at the inn in the Ghost World, Mo Jiuli unexpectedly felt no sense of incongruity. Although the buildings and many things here are similar to those in the Human World, they are not the Human World. For instance, the food souls consume here, although it looks like pastries and dishes from the Human World, is actually created from ghost energy through illusion...

After all, souls don’t need to eat. It is only to look appealing that the food is made to resemble those in the Human World...
