Longevity by Picking up Attributes in the Battlefield

Chapter 1185: Chapter 508: Jin Chanzi Returns, Guanyin Meets Again! (2)

Even the myriad Demon Kings of Huaguo Mountain were awed by Sun Wukong’s grand feat of procuring so many divine artifacts from the Dragon Palace, their gazes upon him filled with reverence.

At this moment!

Within the Dragon Palace of the East Sea!

”Father King.”

Ao Jia’s face was full of confusion and dissatisfaction as he looked at Aoguang and said, ”I truly don’t understand, why indulge that monkey so? Though our Dragon Palace possesses numerous Immortal Artifacts, to give them to that monkey without reason, what could possibly justify this?”

Having just been defeated by Sun Wukong, and then having to watch as many of the treasures from the Dragon Palace were taken by him, even the Sea Stabilizing Needle, Ao Jia felt indescribably discontent.

”Jia’er!”

Aoguang sighed deeply, an air of helplessness and ancient weariness in his expression: ”Don’t you know that an impending calamity is about to descend?”

”What does the impending calamity have to do with this monkey?” Ao Jia still looked bewildered, full of doubts.

Aoguang shook his head slightly and said slowly, ”This monkey is the child of the calamity and the Buddhist Sect’s chosen Scripture Seeker.”

”The great calamity will be initiated by this monkey.”

”Meanwhile, the eyes of the Buddhist Sect and the Heavenly Court are now all focused on this monkey.”

”Otherwise, do you think I would be so foolish as to give this monkey so many benefits for no reason?”

”The child of the calamity? Scripture Seeker?” Ao Jia was shocked by these words.

This, of course, was his first encounter with this matter.

”Alright.” Aoguang waved his hand, looking tired: ”You need not think much about these things.”

”Our Dragon Clan is no longer the Dragon Clan of ancient times, we can only survive in this complex situation.”

”Since we chose to cooperate with the Heavenly Court, naturally, we must comply with their wishes.”

”Should the Qin Court attack, perhaps the Heavenly Court is the only support our Dragon Clan can rely on.”

Aoguang’s voice was filled with helplessness, the former glory of the Dragon Clan long gone, now facing various forces, they could only cautiously seek a path to survival.

Meanwhile, in the Underworld, where Ksitigarbha resides, everything around was shrouded in Netherworld Qi, yet a rich Buddha Light emanated from Ksitigarbha.

It seemed to dispel all negativity.

”Daoist friend.”

Samantabhadra frowned slightly, looking at Ksitigarbha in front of him, with a trace of dissatisfaction in his voice: ”To soul hook Sun Wukong, this is the World Venerable’s decree! Do you not intend to comply?”

”Alas.” Ksitigarbha sighed deeply, his face full of helplessness, gently shaking his head: ”Daoist friend, why make things difficult for me?”

”You were not ignorant of the matters of the past.”

”The reincarnation of Jin Chanzi was beyond control precisely because Ping Xin was displeased with the Underworld’s manipulation of the Yang Realm.”

”If I soul hook this time and the lady finds out, how should I conduct myself?”

Of course.

Ksitigarbha’s concerns, Ping Xin was only part of it, and the strong threat Zhao Feng once posed to him remains a vivid memory.

In days past, even though Ksitigarbha was stationed in the Underworld by the arrangement of two Saints from the Western Teachings to seize Qi Fortune and lay the foundation of reincarnation.

Yet, as time passed, Ksitigarbha gradually realized his own path, his sole wish was to immerse himself in the Underworld, enlightening evil spirits and perfecting the path of reincarnation.

For the endless conflicts and contests in the Yang Realm, he truly no longer wished to participate.

But, he also had no means to refuse.

”Daoist friend.” Samantabhadra frowned slightly, his demeanor softening a bit, as he said: ”It is not my intention to trouble you. But with the beginning of the calamity, everything has its certain destiny, and it is bound to be so.”

”The World Venerable also explained, understanding well your difficulties, so after this soul hooking, the World Venerable will not ask you to defy the rules of the Underworld again.”

”Alas.” Ksitigarbha sighed once more, after a moment of silence, slowly nodding: ”Alright, I shall breach the rules of the Underworld one last time, after which the affairs of the Yang Realm will have nothing to do with me.”

Having said that.

Ksitigarbha gently closed his eyes, his face full of weariness and a sense of relief.

In the future.

He no longer needs to manipulate the affairs of the Yang Realm, is this not also a form of relief?

...

In a Buddhist temple in the South Domain of Qin, incense smoke twirled, serene and harmonious.

Worshippers came in an endless stream, devoutly entering the Great Hall, joining their hands in prayer silently.

However.

Strangely, within this temple, there was no usual Buddha Golden Body, only a large ”Buddha” character hanging high, exuding an ancient and mysterious aura.

This is the foundation of Great Qin Buddhism!

In essence, the Buddha has no form. With Buddha in one’s heart, one can become Buddha.

The Buddha needs no golden body. With Buddha in one’s heart, the Buddha transforms all things.

Under the character ”Buddha,” an old monk sat quietly.

He was dressed in a simple monk robe, holding a string of Buddha beads in his hand, gently rotating them while chanting a Buddhist scripture.

His entire body was cloaked in a layer of gentle Buddha light, exuding a tranquil aura that brought peace to the heart.

However, upon closer inspection, the old monk appeared exceedingly aged, with his face lined with the wrinkles of time, his skin loose, and his life force seemingly ready to dissipate at any moment.

Judging from the Buddha light around him, his cultivation should not be low, yet his state resembled an exhausted lamp, with the fire of life about to extinguish, no different from an ordinary mortal.

If in the days when the Heavenly Court governed the Eastern Continent, there were no Buddhist practitioners in the temples, that might be understandable, as they were all ordinary mortals unable to extend their lifespan through cultivation.

But in today’s Great Qin, various cultivation methods are prosperous and flourishing, and so is Buddhist cultivation.

Upon embarking on the path of cultivation, one’s lifespan becomes extended.

Especially those with a Buddhist nature and wisdom root, they can even achieve the Taiyi or even the Daluo realm.

Now in Great Qin, there are many high monks who have reached such a realm.

Outside the Buddhist temple!

Within the void, a figure was hidden, quietly observing everything within the temple.

This person was Guanyin, her gaze carrying a few scrutinizing intents.

”Strange.” Guanyin wondered to herself: ”Jin Chanzi’s Buddha power now is not low, and his realm is nearing the Daluo realm, yet why is his vitality so weak?”

In the next moment, a gentle voice sounded in Guanyin’s ear: ”Daoist friend, it’s been many years.”

Startled, Guanyin quickly looked over to see that the primordial spirit of Jin Chanzi had already appeared before her.

Unlike the aged appearance of the old monk below, Jin Chanzi’s primordial spirit still had a youthful visage, surrounded by bright Buddha light, appearing transcendent.

”Has Daoist friend regained spiritual wisdom?” Guanyin looked at Jin Chanzi in surprise, clearly not expecting such a situation.

Jin Chanzi’s face showed a faint smile as he calmly said: ”I regained it many years ago.”

Guanyin’s brow furrowed slightly, puzzled, she asked: ”Since you have regained it, and Daoist friend has also re-embarked on the path of cultivation, why is your incarnation still in a mortal form?”

Hearing this, Jin Chanzi smiled gently and countered: ”Daoist friend, do you not know my fate?”

This question instantly rendered Guanyin silent.

Jin Chanzi’s fate was an endless cycle of reincarnation until the journey to obtain the scriptures began.

Even though Jin Chanzi has re-embarked on the path of cultivation in this life, possessing a long lifespan, under the powerful force of the great tribulation, his life can’t be prolonged, destined to continue reincarnating.

”Have you ever resented the World Venerable, Daoist friend?” Guanyin asked softly with some concern in her heart.

”Why resent?”

Jin Chanzi’s expression was calm, his eyes showing a kind of enlightened detachment: ”In the past, the World Venerable had his insistence on Buddhist principles, and I have mine. He was not wrong, and neither was I.”

”Moreover, after reincarnating and coming to Great Qin, I truly found my own Buddhist path.”

”The Buddhism of Great Qin is the Buddhism for all beings, the Buddhist teachings of Great Qin are the teachings for all beings.”

”Daoist friend, look at the followers below, how do they differ from those in the Western Continent?”

Jin Chanzi smiled as he suddenly raised his hand, pointing at the followers continuously entering the temple to worship.

Guanyin shifted her gaze towards below.

She quietly observed for a long time, a full moment passed.

Finally, it seemed that Guanyin had grasped some understanding and slowly said: ”Compared to the followers in the Western Continent, these seem more lively and come to worship sincerely, not just as a routine obligation.”

As a Bodhisattva of the Buddhist Sect, how could Guanyin not know the situation in the Western Continent?

In that continent, it is entirely under the control of the Buddhist Sect, and compared to the previous Heavenly Court’s governance of the Eastern Continent, the control of the Buddhist Sect is even stricter.

Every being is branded with the Buddhist Sect’s mark from birth.

Buddha, supreme.

In the Western Continent, countless beings of the human race are assigned a class at birth, the bottom remains at the bottom, the top stays on top, with no change.

They studied Buddhist teachings from a young age, but it was more out of fear rather than genuine faith.

In contrast to the followers of Great Qin Buddhism, they are entirely different.

”What do you think, Daoist friend?” Jin Chanzi asked with a smile, seeing Guanyin lost in thought.
