My Youth Began With Him

“I still have patients waiting for me. Bye.” Before Huo Siqian could respond, Huo Mian directly hung up.

In fact, Huo Mian was actually a bit sad when Huo Siqian raised the question.

If she really didn’t care about Huo Siqian at all, then she would be indifferent when Huo Siyi beat Huo Siqian up during the kidnapping incident. Huo Siqian was deeply wounded and had to be hospitalized for a long time.

In fact, when Huo Mian saw Huo Siqian bleed to near death, she felt pain… However, she didn’t know how to respond to Huo Siqian’s question.

If she said she would be sad, she would be giving him hope. Huo Siqian would think she liked him back and would love her even more.

Huo Mian wasn’t the type of person that would lead others on. One could tell by how she treated Su Yu.

She couldn’t bear to say that she wouldn’t be sad at all because Huo Siqian protected her with his own life. No matter how evil he was, he did protect her with his own life, and she could not be that cruel.

This might be a kindness she developed after being a mother. She no longer could be as decisive and unrelenting as before.

“Doctor Huo, what medicine should I eat?” the patient in front of her asked anxiously.

“No, it’s okay. You’re not really that ill. I normally don’t recommend my patients to use drugs unless they really need it. After all, the drugs here are usually very strong and can stimulate the brain. You’re still in the early stages of your illness. I think you should go to a few psychotherapy sessions. Let me help you book an appointment with our psychologists. What do you think?” Huo Mian patiently explained to the girl in front of her.

“Okay, thank you Doctor Huo.”

You’re welcome.”

The girl nodded politely at Huo Mian and left with her medical records.

Chen Jie came in with a cup of milk tea. “Doctor Huo, you should take a break first. There are still many patients waiting for you outside. I don’t know why our department suddenly has so many more patients than usual, is it because of puberty?”

“It’s not strange at all. There are many people with depression but China is still behind in the recognition of these psychological diseases. Especially those in distant rural areas, they tend to treat depression as if it is a flu. The increase in patients here is a good sign that people are taking psychological diseases seriously… The earlier we treat depression, the better the patients’ recovery…” Huo Mian took a sip of the milk tea and explained.

“I pity that girl who just came in though. I heard she was going to get married to her boyfriend. Her boyfriend suffered from depression and took his own life one night by cutting his own throat. He even cut her wrist. Thank god she was smart and lucky enough to escape from the scene and report it to the police. She got to the hospital just in time or else she would have died. She’s well educated. I saw she has a master’s degree and is a high school physics teacher from her medical record. I heard her fiance studied abroad and used to work in the Education Bureau. They could have had a bright future. Ah… I don’t know what he was thinking…” It was rare that Chen Jie would gossip with Huo Mian about her patients. However, this was because Chen Jie chatted with the patient’s sister just now while Huo Mian was meeting the patient.

Chen Jie was shocked by the story the sister told.

You couldn’t blame this young and beautiful lady to be haunted by her past and come see a neurologist. It wasn’t something as simple as her hormones were off. Instead, she was almost killed by the man she loved the most.

“Chief, why do you think people are so crazy these days? Why do people commit suicide so easily?” Chen Jie said with frustration.
