My Youth Began With Him

“He said he would bring her with him,” Qin Chu answered calmly.

“Bring her with him? How… how’s that supposed to work?” Huo Mian was now completely distracted from her work.

She got up and walked over to the bed, leaning on Qin Chu’s shoulder.

“Honey… we both know about Rick’s situation in the U.S. He faces the possibility of death every single day. How could Xixi… I really don’t think it’s a good idea. Plus, that girl named Luna is always looking for Rick… I’m afraid she will bring them trouble. In places like the U.S, where guns are legal and gangs run rampant, killing people is as simple as stepping on an ant… I don’t think a frail girl like Xixi can handle it. I didn’t know Rick was such an impulsive person.”

“He is not impulsive. He just doesn’t have a better choice. This accident really made him rethink a lot of things. There’s no way he’d leave Xixi again, so the best solution is to bring her with him. The other choice is being in a long-distance relationship. One in China and one in the U.S, do you think that’s more suitable?” Qin Chu countered.

Huo Mian was speechless. Master Qin’s analysis was admittedly reasonable, but was Rick putting Xixi in danger by bringing her along?

“I know what you’re worried about but I’m pretty sure Rick’s thought of all of this… So, let them make their own decisions. We’re all grown-ups now,” Qin Chu comforted Huo Mian.

“I guess, when are they leaving?” Huo Mian looked up at Qin Chu and asked.

“I haven’t heard yet but I reckon within a few days.”

“Then I’ll have to have a good talk with Xixi.” Huo Mian was still worried.

– The next morning –

At the breakfast table, Mrs. Qin couldn’t help but whisper, “Mian, I need to ask you something.”

“Please, go ahead.” Huo Mian listened while peeling a boiled egg.

“That little girl, Qin Ning… is she in love?”

“Uh… where did you hear that from? From Pudding and Little Bean? Don’t believe those two, they’re just kids. They don’t know what they’re saying… you can’t trust them.” Huo Mian wasn’t expecting this question from the old lady so early in the morning.

“No, I figured it out myself. I mean, Ning-Ning was always in a hurry to get back to work every time she was home. Plus, being such a career-driven girl, she was constantly thinking about her work at the headquarters. This time, however, it’s as if she’s turned into a completely different person. Not only is she not in a hurry to leave, she even made excuses not to go back when her father called. Plus, she came home late yesterday… and I know that she doesn’t have friends here. Isn’t it obvious that she’s met a boy? I also heard Chu mention something about it before… that the boy is from the Tang Family, is that true?”

“Um… yes, the youngest son of the Tang Family.” Mian nodded.

“That’s not good. I strongly oppose.” When she heard this, Mrs. Qin’s expression immediately dropped.

“Mom, you… why do you oppose? The Tang Family is also a well-known family. Isn’t it a good match?” Huo Mian whispered. She knew that her mother-in-law was on the close-minded side, putting importance on family background and status.

“That’s not what I mean. The Tang Family doesn’t have a good reputation… Both its elders and its youngsters… All of them have poor characters. Didn’t that uncle of his marry a much younger woman? I have seen his ex-wife. She’s a great woman. I can’t believe that he was bewitched by a homewrecker. I heard that he’s getting divorced again for an even younger girl. How irresponsible.”
