My Youth Began With Him

“If it’s that serious, then I have to hear it…” Huo Mian said in a half-joking manner.

“Sis, the truth is, I’m not sure how to tell you…”

“Come on, Zhixin, out with it! You’re a man! You should be more direct and to the point, I’m your sister, for goodness sake!” Although Huo Mian loved Zhixin from the bottom of her heart, the fact that he was so soft and indecisive really got on her nerves, whether it was at work or in life. That was why Bella was not dating him yet.

“Okay then, I’ll tell you…” Zhixin said carefully as he observed his sister’s expression.

“Out with it! I can take it, even if you tell me your brother-in-law has someone on the side…” Huo Mian placed her arms around her chest and smiled at Zhixin.

The latter said, without much determination. “Sis, I really think Chu might… have another woman on the side.”

“How do you know?” Huo Mian asked calmly.

“One night I woke up and accidentally heard Chu talking to someone over the phone… Basically, he was saying that you can’t find out about this, and it seemed like it was something important because he looked really serious. We know how much Chu loves you, he would never do anything behind your back, so I thought…” Zhixin paused.

“So, you think Qin Chu has a mistress?” Huo Mian finished Zhixin’s sentence, and the latter nodded with a grim expression on his face.

“Ha, you’re kidding me, right? He’s always with me, where does he find the time to have a mistress? Plus, we share bank accounts, I can see all of his transactions.” Huo Mian smiled, obviously unconvinced.

“Sis, can you not be blinded by love and learn to be protective of yourself? My brother-in-law is handsome and rich, so it’s normal for women to fall for him. Plus, it’s not like you guys are together all the time…” Zhixin muttered under his breath.

“What are you talking about? I’m positive that he’s home every night, he rarely even goes out of town…” Huo Mian said, taking Qin Chu’s side.

“What about before he came back? You guys were apart for four years…” Zhixin couldn’t help but add.

Huo Mian immediately fell silent.

“Sis, I’m not saying that my brother-in-law is a bad person… but people change. He lived alone in the States for 4 years and moved from city to city. How are you sure that he wasn’t with anyone? Maybe there’s more to the story… He’s not a god, and humans often make mistakes… Isn’t it normal for a man not to be able to control himself? You guys might be married and have two children… But what if he slept with someone and they’re still in contact? How would you know? I think… this isn’t fair to you, you love him so much… Sometimes, I even think that you love him more than he loves you… you waited for him for four years and held onto your relationship while ignoring Su Yu’s feelings for you… How many women are capable of doing that?”

“Zhixin, you overestimate me… Plus, you can’t measure relationships based on the degree of fairness… I know how much your brother-in-law loves me. His personality doesn’t allow him to say what he thinks, but he always proves his feelings through his actions… I’m not an idiot, I know what is real is what is fake.”

“Sis, I’m not saying that he doesn’t love you… and I know his feelings toward you are real… I just think he’s hiding something from you. I heard him make a sketchy phone call a while ago, and he kept emphasizing that he would never let you find out… I’m certain he’s hiding something.”

“When did you hear him make that call?” Huo Mian asked calmly.
