My Youth Began With Him

“It’s okay. If you don’t want to eat the snacks because I bought them, just throw them in the garbage bin,” Huo Siqian said, feeling a bit sour in his heart.

He had to accept the fact that Huo Mian wasn’t about to accept anything from him, no matter if it was facial masks or food.

Seeing that she didn’t want to speak, Huo Siqian stood up and slipped on his deerskin gloves.

“Alright, I don’t want to take up more of your precious time, Great Doctor… Oh, wait, Vice Director… Since you are busy, I won’t bother you anymore. Look after your own health. Otherwise, if you exhaust yourself to death, Qin Chu will marry a younger woman… and she’ll spend your money, live in your house, and sleep with your husband… and she’ll hit your kids…” Huo Siqian teased.

There was finally a trace of a smile on Huo Mian’s face.

“Impossible. Not even I can control my kids,” she replied.

“There’s the smile, good… and please, next time when you see me, don’t look like you’re going to the cemetery. It makes me feel like I’m dying soon. I’ll leave the snacks here. Eat if you want. I’m leaving.” Huo Siqian turned to leave.

Suddenly remembering something, he looked back. “Mian… what are you going to do with Jian Tong?”

“My husband will take care of it.” Huo Mian didn’t understand why Huo Siqian was suddenly interested; it was very strange.

“Well, whoever deals with her, I think they should completely get rid of her… Jian Tong is not the kind of woman who learns from her mistakes. This time, being so heavily wounded, she would hold more grudges even if she survives. She’ll always be a danger to you… It is good to clean up early… you should be careful. The same goes for Mo Xue’er. Don’t ever meet her alone…” With that, Huo Siqian opened the door and left.

Huo Mian sat there for a few minutes more, staring blankly into space. She then slowly opened the package of the snacks Huo Siqian brought her.

She picked up one of the small steamed buns and took two bites. She suddenly realized that it didn’t taste the same as before.

Or maybe it wasn’t the taste that had changed. Maybe she was the change… She was no longer the same Huo Mian.

Huo Siqian’s visit chased away Huo Mian’s appetite. She was starving before he came and after he left, she didn’t feel like eating at all.

After a couple of small bites, she cleaned up and sank her head back to work.

Just then, Ni Yang’s call came in.

It was a video call.

“Hey… Sis… how are you doing?” Ni Yang smiled brightly.

“Hello, I’m good. Is Tahiti beautiful?” Huo Main tried to wake herself up.

“I’ll show you!” Ni Yang held the cell phone up, pointing its camera toward the blue sea and blue sky behind him.

“Such a rich kid… you’re using data like a vampire drinks blood. Don’t you care?” Huo Mian laughed.

“Why would I care? I’m talking to you, my good sister.”

“Where is Jie?”

“She’s swimming over there…” Ni Yang pointed to the beach.

“Alright, as long as you’re having a good time. What time are you coming back?”

“Maybe a week later. It is near the spring festival so we’re planning to go home earlier… Sis, I have a favor to ask..”

“What is it?”

“When I get back, I want to have a wedding ceremony… Of course, it’ll be impossible to have it happen before the festival since there’s not enough time. I looked at the calendar, the 8th day of the new lunar year is a good choice, I want the ceremony to be held in a hotel owned by GK, and… can you please help me take care of these things?”

“You little brat, finally getting married?” Huo Mian’s smile was very warm; she was really happy for Ni Yang.

“Well, I’m getting old. I don’t want to wait any longer. If I meet the right person, I want to get married.”

“Great, I support you. I’ll help in any way. Tell me what you want at the wedding, and I’ll make sure it’s a banger.”

“Sis, this time I want to go to the Mian Resort on Yunding mountain. It is quiet there and it’s beautiful. What’s most important is that the hotel is named after you. I think Jie and I will have an unforgettable trip there.”

“Okay, I’ll cover all the costs. You two have fun.”

“Also… I have a plan that I need to discuss with you,” Ni Yang deliberately lowered his voice and whispered.

After hearing his plan, Huo Mian began to stutter from shock. “Ar-ar-are you sure that it’ll work? Are you sure Jie won’t kill you?”
