My Youth Began With Him

“I haven’t seen you for a long time. I really missed you so I came over to see you…” Huo Siqian was as straightforward as usual.

However, Huo Mian didn’t feel awkward or shy about what he said. Instead, she felt her heart sink.

“We are… not siblings, nor are we friends. You don’t have to visit me… because you’re not very welcome here….” Huo Mian said impolitely.

“Not very welcome here? … Does that mean you welcome me a little bit?” Huo Siqian took advantage of Huo Mian’s minor fault in wording and argued about meaningless semantics.

Huo Mian didn’t care enough to respond.

She changed the topic. “You’ve been very low-key recently… You haven’t begun your attack on Mo Xue’er?”

“What? Are you hoping that I would do something?” Huo Siqian chuckled.

“No, I’m not interested in anything that has to do with you.” Huo Mian simply rejected.

“But I’ve always been interested in everything about you… I heard about Jian Tong. How is Little Bean?” Unexpectedly, he started asking about Little Bean.

“How did you know about this?” Huo Mian looked at him with caution, staring straight into his eyes.

“Nothing can be hidden from me… unless I don’t want to know. Otherwise, I will know everything …” Huo Siqian lifted the corners of his mouth.

“Then, do you also think I’m a terrible failure?” Huo Mian changed the topic once again.

“Why would I think that?” Huo Siqian looked at her with a serious gaze. It seemed that his uncontrollable heart would always calm down in Huo Mian’s presence. It was one of the reasons why he enjoyed being alone with her so much.

“I’ve always kept to myself and have always had a low profile… I’m not interested in being in the spotlight… and I’m not interested in competing with others… But even so, Jian Tong hates me, Mo Xue’er hates me, and Song Yishi hated me… They all hate me… and the sad thing is that I don’t even know what I’ve done to them to make them hate me so much.” Huo Mian smiled bitterly.

“It’s because they’re envious of what you have… The things that you own… they’ll probably never find in their lifetimes.” Huo Siqian answered.

“But I don’t think I have a lot. Others only see what I have now but they don’t know how many hard roads I’ve walked. What I’ve experienced these past years can probably equate to someone else’s entire lifetime… or maybe they wouldn’t suffer so many hardships. After all these ups and downs, I still haven’t lost my mind… but I’ve really had enough. I thought that my family could finally live a happy life, but… who knew? Those despicable people reached out their claws to my children… Huo Siqian, you too, right? When I was pregnant, you wanted me to have a miscarriage many times, didn’t you?”

Huo Mian ended with a heavy mood, looking up at Huo Siqian.

Perhaps her experience with the bombing had changed her. Nothing seemed to faze her anymore… Huo Mian even felt that she was brave enough to have an honest conversation with Huo Siqian. There was no need to hide or to run.

“Yes, at that time… I just didn’t want you to give birth to some other man’s children. I’ve always wanted you all to myself, that’s all,” Huo Siqian readily admitted.

“What about now? Would you still want to harm my girls? Still thinking about taking them out of my life?” Huo Mian asked earnestly.

She tried to get the answers she wanted from his face.

“If I told you the answer, would you believe me?” Huo Siqian asked back.
