My Youth Began With Him

”You…” Huo Mian had never looked so closely into his eyes and was all of a sudden at a loss for words.

She mostly mocked him or made fun of him, but he never got mad, and always kept his joking demeanor.

Therefore, she was not used to him speaking in such a serious tone with her…

”Thank you, you don’t have to celebrate for me. I’m not one to be flashy,” Huo Mian said faintly.

”I can tell from the way you’re talking that you’ve recovered… Survival sure brings about good fortune.”

”Are you talking about Qin Chu?” Huo Mian felt like this phrase better suited her husband, since he literally just survived a catastrophe…

”No, I’m talking about you.” Huo Siqian chuckled.

”Are you heading out? In pajamas?” Huo Siqian was speechless upon seeing what Huo Mian was wearing. Was she really going out in that outfit?

”I, um… wanted some fruit,” Huo Mian said truthfully.

”Fruit? Why are you going yourself? Did the Qins not bring Qin Chu anything when they visited him?” Huo Siqian complained.

”They probably forgot… they were just worried about Qin Chu.” Huo Mian looked for excuses for Mr. and Mrs. Qin.

But she really couldn’t blame them for not bringing anything. Qin Chu’s parents were in so much shock that they forgot to bring anything to the hospital.

Upon hearing that Qin Chu woke up this morning, Mr. and Mrs. Qin immediately hurried over.

They bumped into Song Yishi by the entrance, and all three of them came completely empty-handed.

Plus, Huo Mian was sick of plain congee and wanted to improve their diet. That was why she wanted to go get some fruit.

”You shouldn’t be wandering around outside… your immune system is probably still weak, and you wouldn’t want to catch a cold or something…” Huo Siqian said as he turned around and glanced at the nurse sitting by the on-call booth.

”You, come here,” Then, he took out 1000 yuan and handed it to her.

”Go get some fresh fruit and keep the rest of the money for yourself. Don’t worry about the on-call booth, I’ll take responsibility if anything happens.” Huo Siqian was the founder of the Huo Foundation, so he held high status at South Side. The nurse also knew that he was close to the director, so she didn’t dare question his authority.

She took the money in her hands and asked feebly, ”President Huo, what kind of fruit would you like?”

Huo Siqian glanced at Huo Mian. ”Ask her.”

The nurse turned her head around to face Huo Mian, ”Dr. Huo…”

”Um… anything’s fine.” Thanks to Huo Siqian butting into her business, she had no idea what she wanted to eat.

”Then just buy a little bit of everything, here’s another thousand,” Huo Siqian said as he passed the nurse some more money.

Then, the nurse ran out of South Side…

Those who didn’t know would think that Huo Siqian was a sister-spoiler. Yes, he was, but he only spoiled Huo Mian and never Huo Yanyan.

After the nurse left, Huo Mian didn’t know where she was supposed to go, so she slowly followed Huo Siqian in the hall.

”You seem to be very worried about my wellbeing…” she suddenly asked him.

”Of course I am, after all… you’re my only sister,” Huo Siqian answered nonchalantly.

”Why do you hate Huo Yanyan so much but treat me so well? Is it because the enemy of your enemy is your friend?” Huo Siqian didn’t understand Huo Siqian’s intentions.

”It’s not that complicated. Me liking or disliking something or someone completely depends on my mood… I don’t like Huo Yanyan because she’s stupid. You, on the other hand… are very smart, and I happen to like smart people.” Huo Siqian smiled as he placed a hand in his pocket.

”I always thought that we were… enemies.” Huo Mian tilted her head and glanced at him.

”What about now? Do you still treat me like your enemy?” Huo Siqian suddenly stopped smiling teasingly and instead looked at her with a serious expression on his face.

It seemed like Huo Mian’s answer was very important to him…
