Apocalypse Villainess? Nah, I'm Nice

Ivan Warren froze for a moment. ’That makes sense,’ he thought. ’If he were really a Zombie, he wouldn’t have been able to get into the city. Am I just on edge? Is that why he seems more and more off the longer I look at him?’

Seeing his lingering doubt, Leo Joyce added, ”Your instincts are sharp, though. Peter actually mentioned this to me. The man was indeed injected with the Zombie Virus and his body was damaged, but he didn’t develop a superpower from it. His brain was also damaged, so he’s not all there—he seems a bit slow. However, his Enhanced Superpower actually rose by several levels, and he’s extremely obedient. That’s why Peter brought him along.”

Ivan Warren had always been completely loyal to him. Hearing this explanation, he quickly relaxed and dropped the subject, merely urging him to rest.

Leo Joyce lay down on the bed.

But even after Ivan Warren left, he didn’t close his eyes.

He had been anxious before, but Ivan Warren’s interruption had unexpectedly calmed him down.

’So what if he’s a Zombie?’

He had already arranged it with Peter. Before dawn tomorrow, they would release Haff in the most densely populated residential area. That way, at worst, only some ordinary people would be turned into Zombies.

Haff himself wasn’t that strong; he wasn’t much of a threat.

As long as Maisie Joyce was dead, he could reappear and easily reclaim the title of City Lord.

Then, he would just send people to kill Haff and all the Zombies he created.

Everything would be settled.

As for Peter, he was a smart man.

He wouldn’t leak this secret, for the sake of his own future benefits.

Otherwise, the only thing awaiting him would be death.

Besides, ’Once I’ve won, who would believe anything he says? I’ll just have to pin all the blame on him then!’

The more he thought about it, the more relaxed Leo Joyce became.

’As long as... that man doesn’t cause any problems, everything will proceed smoothly.’

A few hours passed in a flash.

In Southreach, the night gradually faded, and dawn was approaching.

Suddenly, screams erupted in a residential area, raising the curtain on chaos!

This day would become the most unforgettable day for the people of Southreach.

For them, it was nothing short of a catastrophe falling from the sky.

Some were sleeping soundly in their homes, while others had just woken up, when suddenly doors were smashed open. A man with half his face covered lunged ferociously, beginning a feast of flesh and blood!

The news quickly reached The Citadel.

Maisie Joyce listened in shock to her subordinate’s report. ”A Zombie has entered the city and bitten many people. It’s incredibly powerful. Even many members of The Guard have been injured, and some have started to turn...”

”Send reinforcements immediately! Protect the residents at all costs and kill all the Zombies!”

Then, she summoned another subordinate from The Citadel. ”Send someone to get Army Commander Payne and Deputy City Lord Koenig. Tell them we’re holding an emergency meeting!”

”Yes, ma’am!”

After giving her orders, Maisie Joyce sat in her chair with a dark expression, slamming a fist on the table. Unrelenting fury surged within her.

’This is no coincidence!’

’Today is the day of my succession ceremony, yet a Zombie is running rampant in the city...’

’Who is it?!’

’To do something so heinous, something that enrages both heaven and humanity, all for personal gain!’

’I will never, ever let them get away with this!’

With that thought, she called out loudly, ”Go and summon the heads of the Koenig and Archer Families!”

The number of people bitten by the Zombie grew, and the civilian residential area descended into chaos.

But the Zombie that started it all was exceptionally cunning. Every time it was about to be surrounded, it would vanish without a trace, only to find another opportunity to create more Zombies!

Soon, the adjacent residential areas also began to panic.

In the courtyard, Shawn Monroe supported Paige Summers as they walked out. ”A Zombie has infiltrated the city,” he said. ”It’s not far from us. The situation here is getting bad. We need to evacuate to another district first!”

”A Zombie?!”

Paige Summers was stunned. ’A Zombie actually managed to get into Southreach? How could something like this happen?!’

Shawn Monroe helped her into the car and sat down beside her. After ordering his subordinate to drive, he turned to her and said, ”I wouldn’t lie to you about this. It’s a bit of a mess, but it should be resolved. A base like Southreach won’t fall to a few Zombies. For now, we’ll go to a more secluded place to lie low. Once this is over, we’re leaving!”

Paige Summers said nothing.

’As if I want to leave!’

’At least in Southreach, Claire Chapman is here. She might have already sent people to search for me. But if I leave, then I’ll really be in trouble.’

Shawn Monroe glanced at her. ”It’s chaotic out there, so don’t even think about running off. Even if you’re not thinking about yourself, you have to think about the baby in your belly and Mrs. Lowell. In your current condition, you can’t use your superpower at all. If you run into a Zombie...”
