Fated to My Billionaire Husband

She didn’t say anything, but her tears had already soaked his chest.

Ruan Tianling gently stroked her back, ”Why are you crying?”

She was, of course, upset about his difficult month-long ordeal.

”I didn’t know you were right under Sun Moon Island. If I had known, you wouldn’t have stayed in there for so long. I thought the Treasury had been blown up...”

Ruan Tianling chuckled, ”I also thought it had been blown up. Later, I realized that although the two Treasuries are adjacent, they are accessed from different places. The entrance to the one I went into was very hidden.”

Jian Yufei felt very fortunate that she had given Ruan Tianling the Double Dragon Ring back then.

”How did you manage to get out later?”

Ruan Tianling laughed, ”You won’t believe it, but I accidentally touched a switch inside that opened a door, revealing a tunnel. I followed the tunnel and when I emerged, I was on the mountain of Sun Moon Island.”

Jian Yufei exclaimed, ”At that time, we had just evacuated!”

They had just evacuated, and he emerged from there.

If she’d known, she would have persisted for a few more days.

Ruan Tianling didn’t want her to feel too guilty, ”It’s okay, you had left me a phone and a letter in the villa. It was through the phone you left me that I contacted my subordinates.”

Jian Yufei stared intently at him, ”Why didn’t you contact me? Why did you take more than two months without contacting me?”

Since he had gotten out earlier, he should have contacted her promptly to let her know he was alive.

Yet Jian Yufei knew, Ruan Tianling wasn’t that kind of person.

He wouldn’t intentionally avoid contacting her just to take time to empty the treasures.

So something bad must have happened to him.

Ruan Tianling smiled helplessly, ”At that time, I looked really terrible, so I didn’t rush to see you. I held on until Sang Li and the others came to find me. I told him I would contact you once I woke up, then I slept for half a month.”

”Why?!”

”The doctor said my body was too weak, and my bodily functions were poor, so I was exhausted. I spent half a month recovering but still wasn’t well. So, I contacted my father-in-law, who rushed to London and treated me for another month, and my condition improved significantly.”

Ruan Tianling felt very fortunate that at the time, Xiao Zexin had fully recovered from his illness; otherwise, who would have treated him?

If he had let another doctor treat him, he estimated it might have taken a few more months before he could return.

Jian Yufei frowned, ”Is that the reason you didn’t contact me?”

Ruan Tianling nodded, ”Yes, I looked bad, thinking I’d wait until I recovered before seeing you.”

”Are you that concerned about your image?”

”Of course! In your heart, I’ve always been a handsome man. If you saw me with dry, yellow hair, a gaunt, yellow face, looking skinny as a skeleton, wouldn’t that ruin my reputation?” Ruan Tianling said seriously.

When he first emerged from the tunnel, he almost frightened himself by his appearance.

He swore he would never let her see him looking like that.

Jian Yufei, both distressed and annoyed, started hitting him.

”You idiot, dummy!”

”How can you be so stupid! Do you think I care about those things? I just want you to be alive; you even let me worry uselessly for over two months because of your image!”

Jian Yufei grew increasingly upset, ”You are really too much!”

Ruan Tianling allowed her to hit him, ”Darling, I didn’t want you to worry.”

”By not contacting me, you made me even more worried! Could you please focus on what’s important?!”
