Fated to My Billionaire Husband

This is a French Restaurant, naturally, one eats French cuisine here, and everything served are the restaurant’s signature dishes.

The waiter is a former employee who is aware of Xiao Lang and Jian Yufei’s relationship.

Once the dishes are served, he smiles at Jian Yufei and says, ”The owner prepared all these dishes for you himself, the food will definitely be delicious.”

Jian Yufei is surprised; she looks at Xiao Lang in astonishment.

Xiao Lang with his deep gaze, ”I just wanted to do something for you.”

”Thank you, but you don’t need to do anything for me.”

”No!” Xiao Lang stared at her intently, speaking in a deep voice: ”Yufei, I was the one who did you wrong, I owe you a lot. So, I want to make it up to you, to heal the wounds I’ve caused.”

”Xiao Lang, you don’t owe me anything. Neither of us owe each other anything. I have truly forgotten what happened before.”

”What does it mean to have forgotten?”

”It means I don’t blame you, I have let go of the past. To me now, you are just an acquaintance, so let’s not mention the past, shall we?”

Xiao Lang pursed his lips slightly, his dark pupils swelling like ink.

”You never blamed me?”

Jian Yufei smiled lightly, ”I did blame you initially, I blamed you for leaving me alone, for disappearing after just one phone call. Even if it was unavoidable, you shouldn’t have just left. You should have at least explained to me in person, not leaving me alone to face so many guests. But, I stopped blaming you later, which is strange. I forgave you very quickly, and had no thoughts of blaming you at all.”

Xiao Lang’s heart ached inexplicably.

Her casual dismissal of the resentment he expected suggested that he wasn’t that important to her after all.

It’s easy to forgive when you don’t care enough.

It wasn’t her fault, really. He was the one who hurt her. He was the one who failed her first.

”I’m sorry...” Xiao Lang’s voice was filled with painful remorse; besides these three words, he didn’t know what else to say to express how guilty he felt.

”Do you know? Every day after that day, I always found myself thinking about you, guessing what you were doing, whether you held any resentment towards me. I have been looking forward to coming back to see you, but I was also scared to see you. I was afraid you wouldn’t forgive me, but I was more afraid of not being able to see you. So I came back and couldn’t wait to see you.”

Listening to his heartfelt confession, Jian Yufei’s expression was calm, unaffected.

”Xiao Lang, you don’t need to feel so guilty, I have really forgiven you.”

Xiao Lang’s heart ached even more.

It was because she didn’t blame him that he felt worse.

”Yufei, are you happy now?” He asked her suddenly.

Jian Yufei paused, then smiled faintly, ”Everyone has a different definition of happiness, so I don’t think I can answer you.”

”Are you doing well?”

”... How is that any different from the previous question?”

”Tell me, are you doing well?” Xiao Lang asked again earnestly, as if this were a very serious question, and he needed to know the answer.

Jian Yufei opened her mouth, wanting to say she was doing very well. But the truth was she was not doing well at all, she was in pain and felt awful, and couldn’t even bring herself to lie about it.

”Are you doing well?” Xiao Lang repeated the questioning, his dark eyes gleaming.

Jian Yufei’s eyes suddenly reddened, she stood up hurriedly, ”I’m sorry, I’d like to leave now.”
