Family Rise by Daily Intelligence

Chapter 455: Chapter 228: Massive Rewards, Activating Demon-Defying City, Usurping the Nest (Part 3)

Additionally.

The Cao Family’s Foundation Establishment left in a hurry and exploring now might uncover something useful.

Once the three, including Grandmaster Yu, have exited the Star-Receiving Tower.

The three groups gathered together.

Fu Changsheng said:

”Since we want to lure the Tai Chi Locusts into the formation, it’s best for our three groups to act separately. Otherwise, if the Tai Chi Locusts swarm all at once, their numbers will be too high, and the risk will be too great. Before we slay the Tier Two Tai Chi Locusts, it’s best to first eliminate the nearby Tier One Tai Chi Locusts. If there’s any issue, communicate it promptly.”

”Understood.”

The three groups departed from Demon-Defying City.

Headed in three different directions.

.....

Hee Family.

Within Huike Garden.

The four individuals from the Cao Family were temporarily settled here.

Cao Xueyang walked in from outside, looking anxious:

”Father, Third Uncle, Sixth Brother, the Hee Family people said that Clan Leader Hee is currently attending the Ninth-Grade Noble Family meeting and is unable to leave immediately.”

They originally wanted to ask the Hee Family for help, to send a few more Foundation Establishment cultivators to return with them to the fief and rescue the Qi Cultivation clan members from the refuge.

But as it stands.

The Hee Family clearly isn’t inclined to do so.

Cao Xueyang said worriedly:

”Father, the refuge in the fief has sufficient grain reserves, and it is safer for our clan members to stay there than for us to risk bringing them back.”

”I think”

”Our immediate priority for the Cao Family is to decide on a candidate for the Family Head. Otherwise, we won’t know anything about the Court’s decrees or the discussions of the Ninth-Grade Noble Families.”

Hearing this.

The gaze of the three naturally fell on Second Elder Cao.

Evidently allowing him to assume the position of Family Head.

Second Elder Cao stroked his beard and said:

”To elect a new Ninth-Grade Family Head, one must go to the World Suppression Bureau for granting the title. From the Hee Family to Wanning Marketplace is too far, with too many variables; let’s wait a bit and see what conclusions the Ninth-Grade Family Council makes.”

He paused.

Second Elder Cao sighed:

”Now the spirit vein of our fief, our worldly clan members, have all been destroyed by the Insect Tide. According to the Court’s decree, to maintain the Ninth-Grade Noble Family title, we must cultivate a Tier Two Spirit Vein and ten thousand citizens within ten years in the fief.”

”Our ancestors fought hard to establish this foundation, and now it’s being buried in our hands. Regardless of the hardships ahead, we must preserve the Ninth-Grade Noble Family title.”

Cao Xueyang felt a bit guilty.

But regarding his father’s worry, he dismissively said:

”Father, remember when the Fu Family had only the Four Cultivators left, with the highest cultivation at Qi Refining Third Layer. Not considering the Qi Cultivation clan members in the refuge, we, just relying on our four Foundation Establishment cultivators, can achieve those two goals within three to five years, not needing ten.”

Third Elder Cao glanced at Cao Xueyang.

Xueyang is still too young.

If it were a time of peace.

Perhaps there would be a chance to achieve the goals in a short time.

But now it’s during the outbreak of the Beast Tide; when it will end is unknown, and whether they can survive it is also uncertain.

Cao Xueyang still wanted to say something.

But swallowed his words.

Before them lies an easy shortcut to achieve the two Court-required metrics.

.....

After Hee Clan Leader came out of the Noble Family Council, a guard at the door reported:

”Family Head, the people from the Cao Family have come several times for news after learning of your attendance at the Noble Family Council.”

Hee Clan Leader squinted slightly.

At the Noble Family Council, after hearing that Fu Changsheng had given the Cao Family a warning about the Insect Tide, he became noticeably more wary of the four Foundation Establishment cultivators who had defected to them.

The cause of Elder Clan Leader Cao’s death is unknown.

Hee Clan Leader thought quickly.

And soon made a decision.

He instructed the guard:

”Notify all Elders to gather at the Council Hall; I’m going to Huike Garden and will return shortly.”

”Yes, Family Head.”

Hee Clan Leader flashed his body several times and soon reached Huike Garden.

Second Elder Cao was quite surprised to see Hee Clan Leader visiting in person and quickly went to greet him:

”Hee Clan Leader, if there’s anything, you can send a guard to deliver the message. There’s no need to trouble you to come in person.”

Hee Clan Leader exchanged a few pleasantries.

After the five took their seats.

Hee Clan Leader got straight to the point:

”Four Fellow Daoists of the Cao Family, I have just received a decree from the Court, which for you is undoubtedly good news for revitalizing the Cao Family.”

Saying this.

He mentioned the Recruitment Order and the Bounty Order.

In the end, he said:

”As long as you seize this opportunity during the Insect Tide and slay a few Tier Two Tai Chi Locusts to accumulate sufficient Court Merit Points, you can exchange them with the Court for a Tier Two Spirit Vein.”

In this way.

There will be a place to settle down.

Second Elder Cao sensed an implied message and respectfully said:

”Indeed, Hee Clan Leader speaks rightly. In that case, the four of us will discuss it.”

”Yes, if you all decide to leave, do inform me at any time.”

Hee Clan Leader stood up and left.

After he left.

Second Elder Cao used a Sound Insulation Technique.

His expression darkened:

”The Hee Family is giving a subtle eviction order.”

Hearing this, Cao Xueyang, knowing they couldn’t just leave, argued:

”Father, the more they do this, the less we should step out of the Hee Family’s territory. Otherwise, we won’t even have a place to recuperate. And though killing the Tier Two Tai Chi Locust seems tempting, it’s also very dangerous. We’re better off staying quietly in the Hee Family and waiting for this wave of Insect Tide to pass.”

If the Hee Family’s Foundation Establishment cultivators suffer losses in this Beast Tide.

It would be easier to act then.

Second Elder Cao pondered for a moment and spoke:

”The Hee Family took us in during these difficult times out of past regard, but now our Cao Family and the Hee Family are no longer on equal terms, and the Hee Family has no reason to keep us. As such, let’s first head to Wanning Marketplace and secure the Ninth-Grade Family Head position.”

”Additionally”

”We left in a hurry then, and it’s time to return to the fief once more.”
