Chapter 2789: Chapter 2784: 13 Days Discussion (41)

Why does the director seem somewhat split?

Yes, this is the question Fu Qian seemed to find the answer to.

An attitude that is erratic and contradictory.

Like enjoying the spectacle while pushing himself into the vortex of the sanatorium— the office of the chief physician.

But when faced with the truth, he retreats, reverting to a righteous persona aiming to uncover the scandal.

Even the hired actors are driven to madness, clearly poised from entrance to station, but then disheveled thereafter.

Why does the director behave this way?

The answer is because it’s not merely his own behavior.

Wayne Falter embodies two wills within.

...

The suspicion from the beginning now truly bears fruit.

Especially the note in Wayne Falter’s hand, though brief, is potent evidence.

Firstly, it unequivocally proves the director’s existence.

From the start up until now, he’s really been controlling the scene, thus any matter could be interpreted as a conspiracy theory.

Secondly, as previously argued, the note serves as a valuable counsel left for Wayne Falter.

As for the specifics of the clever plan, it’s to be used when control falters, offering the intruder a bit of initiative, freeing him from constant suppression.

Frankly, this arrangement is reasonable, even representative of certain ”operating limits.”

As an intruder perpetually designed into the plot, after leaving Lady Trish’s male companion, his behavior suddenly turned aggressive.

And whether it was emergency fire-fighting or naturally within the plot, Wayne Falter stood and bore the pressure, leading the rhythm throughout.

But it’s well-known that even genius actors improvising occasionally need the director to reign in the scene.

Not to mention, the counterpart he plays against particularly relishes pressuring others, straining the nerves.

So no matter how much direction the director provided Wayne Falter prior to the act, subsequent developments are inevitably prone to spiraling out of control.

At this point, if one still wishes to retain control, more aggressive measures are necessary.

For instance, the content within the note, ”Yeah, yeah, you’re absolutely right.”

Wayne Falter expressing such an attitude implies, far from sarcasm, a loosening of the intruder’s binds.

Just like Wayne Falter, I also gained a certain range of freedom to improvise.

Until then, it perhaps seemed like a success of prior plans, probing the director’s operational boundaries.

Then subsequent developments, amid further testing, I pointed out contradictions in Wayne Falter’s actions, leading him to directly hand over the note, displaying its contents for me.

The director’s representation was not of operational awkwardness, but rather an ambiguous attitude.

He didn’t mind exposing his own impotence, completely handing over control to me— a dangerous element, reducing Wayne Falter to a supporting role.

The trigger was merely me perceiving the ”hesitation” within Wayne Falter’s heart.

...

Was Wayne Falter’s previous predicament perhaps due to my repeated wavering, resulting in his miserable state, surprisingly still within the director’s expectations?

He had long known of Wayne Falter’s inner ”hesitation,” even if it seemed not deliberately planned, but an actor’s genuine expression.

The director even didn’t mind me knowing all that, thus offering a broader perspective on the whole incident—

This was undoubtedly a prank orchestrated by him; if the intruder is comparatively easier to handle, let Wayne Falter control the scene entirely, toys them to the end.

If the intruder possesses relatively keen insight, then reveal everything to him— congratulations on guessing correctly, indeed, the one opposite harbors ”hesitation,” guess why?

Fu Qian seemingly already hears someone articulating thus to him.

Even if guessing, it hardly seems difficult— the reason Wayne Falter exhibits so many contradictory behaviors is that the director and Servis aren’t one person.

Previously speculated, barring supernatural forces, organizing so many people in cooperation, nearly only the true authority within the sanatorium could achieve that, namely the unseen Servis.

Thus pondering if he was that director, amusing himself by converting the sanatorium into an amusement park, had always been among the conjectures.

And the director showing the note was equivalent to negating this point face-to-face.

Wayne Falter was more likely dispatched by Servis, but the director needn’t be Servis, potentially exhibiting a starkly contrary attitude.

One wishes the intruder to board the train, another to have the intruder enter the chief physician’s office.

Their specific goals might remain unclear, but most directly, it leads to Wayne Falter being caught in the middle, in extreme agony.

Of course, these are still within the speculative phase and cannot rule out everything being a plot by ”Director Servis,” intending to mislead me into such thinking.

But if adopting such a setting, Wayne Falter’s actions appear considerably more coherent.

Obeying Servis’ orders while aligning with the director’s script results in constant instances of obstruction.

No need for much guidance, spontaneously oscillating back and forth.

And under such circumstances, I managed to keep the rhythm surprisingly even more animated than anticipated.

Essentially, a three-person skit rather than the original two-person assumption.

The outcome was excellent, successfully probing the director’s limits, continually clarifying the divergence of two wills until, under centrifugal force, dividing successfully.

All good, now only one question needs clarification— why does Wayne Falter need to cooperate with the director’s script, seemingly allowing the entire logic to align seamlessly.

Even magnifying it a bit, why do so many people, including Servis himself, cooperate with the director’s script?

”The person writing this seems not very confident in you?”

Without burning it post-reading, Fu Qian neatly folds the note away, glances at Wayne Falter, and speaks again in provocation.

...

”Regrettably, I will not disclose anything related to that object.”

Even having experienced the other’s malevolence, Wayne Falter’s breath ceased for a moment under such point-targeted provocation.

After a slight adjustment, he coldly shook his head, expressing helplessness.

”Aren’t actions under my direction?”

Fu Qian looks surprised.

”Of course, no problem, any thoughts can be implemented by me— but you wouldn’t suggest actions equate to answering questions?”

Wayne Falter coldly reiterates.

”Certainly not.”

Fu Qian instantly switches to a smile, indicating he wouldn’t play such word games.

”Next action is... you may leave.”
