Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1525: Chapter 1520: Human Tree (29)

The belief that the mind is greater than matter truly exists, in an unreal place.

After some exploration, one of the greatest discoveries is that this place is not reality.

Although it doesn’t quite feel like a dream, in situations like this, the power of will, cognition, and so on plays such a significant role in driving events that it outweighs the ordinary.

In fact, when realizing this, Fu Qian had already tried self-persuasion, such as telling himself that other rings on his hand were still there.

Of course, the result was that no change occurred.

The first reaction for a normal person encountering this situation would most likely be to question the validity of their previous assumptions.

However, Fu Qian is not someone who easily denies himself.

Many things that seem irreconcilable may not actually have inherent contradictions.

The first thing he did was assume that the previous conclusions were still correct, that his attempts weren’t wrong, and then deducing what elements could cause these two situations to coexist.

It was indeed possible—consensus.

The thing lurking in the shadows was wounded by Mr. Li Sr., followed by Lady Ji Ning leaving a mark, based on the premise that, under his guidance at the time, the team members truly believed to some extent that the grown Tree Infant had transformed into the tracker.

But the matter of the rings was only known to himself.

This touches on a theoretical problem: if indeed in a space where the mind is greater than matter and every individual can transform it through their will into what they imagine, what happens when a conflict arises?

A considers B dead, while B considers A dead, what is the final result?

Assign a value to their willpower and then compare strength?

Or is it determined by ranking, as in the real world?

Either could be possible, and what if there was another person then?

C, like B, also strongly believes A is dead, what would the situation become?

Fu Qian doesn’t believe that there would truly be complete equality between different individuals, but in his view, the answer to this unavoidable question lies in the convergence of numerous cognitions into a result, that is, ”consensus.”

This should produce a more stable representation than an abstract contest of wills.

And this fundamentally leads to a seamless exploration, because reality itself is driven by ”consensus.”

His state and items completely reset to before the Academy task, which was the predetermined information when the task began.

If he wanted to change it, the will of a single individual like himself wouldn’t suffice.

Not to mention in terms of ranking, the team members even have cognitive consensus as resistance.

...

After hypothesizing a set of theories, the next step is verification.

This seemingly dates back to the tests of Li He and the other.

Their hypothesis was that the crying was caused by a separate entity following each person based on their soul-walking experiences.

This of course is one explanation for the crying diminishing after soul-body separation, but in a world that’s not really real, it’s not hard to think of other rationalities.

For instance, the crying was indeed omnipresent, but fresh flesh and blood was the excellent antenna receiving it, then transmitting through connections to the will walking outside.

However, the fact was that as soon as they got the idea, the discovery by Mr. Li Sr. naturally eliminated other possibilities.

When eventually joined by their own duo, and later exchanging ideas on rescuing others, through some deductions, everyone felt their thought was justified, the tangible minions actually appeared.

All these can’t absolutely prove anything, but they’re not at odds with the aforementioned seamlessness.

Therefore, Fu Qian went on to do two things, one was the aforementioned flaunting, inviting skepticism.

The second was convincing himself that the mental resistance brought by digesting 2/3 of the Thug was also effective against the crying.

The self-suggestion of not hearing the cries definitely wouldn’t work; that would mean directly opposing the consensus of the team members.

But the enhancement that belongs to one’s own resistance was another matter.

Isn’t it clear that among Demigods, Lady Ji Ning’s symptoms were much lighter than Lord Aike’s?

Perhaps it’s her ability, or perhaps it’s the items on her, clearly providing her with superior resistance.

It’s something entirely worth emulating.

The final result also proved this, as he indeed resisted longer.

And once this was inevitably discovered, the next step was to use some superficial changes to successfully redirect the consensus towards another truth—that he was actually a Demigod hiding his strength.

Lady Ji Ning’s questioning was something he had long been waiting for.

At the same time, the facts proved that the theoretical application was quite successful.

...

”Who are you, and what is your purpose?”

At this moment, no matter how dire the crisis, Ji Ning couldn’t continue the previous actions.

That extravagant burial garment being removed mid-sentence had already proven their determination to eliminate internal threats before foreign ones.

And the eyes restoring their sight were unmistakably fixed on Fu Qian.

It seemed that amidst the collaborative struggle to escape the predicament, there was a member of the Bloodline Clan who had been hiding their identity all along, subtly guiding actions... even affecting her own search.

Her gaze settled on the dagger in Fu Qian’s hand, observing its truly silver-blue appearance, Ji Ning felt countless thoughts arise.

”Who I am isn’t important; please trust that I mean no harm.”

Even while under heavy scrutiny from the strong, especially with Mr. Li Sr. showing no expression and full of pressure, Fu Qian seemed not to be aware of impending doom.

”There aren’t as many Bloodline clan members as you think, and even fewer are Demigods. It wouldn’t be that hard to find your identity.”

Regrettably, his explanation that he was a friend not a foe immediately received a threat from Lord Aike.

As a Night Watchman Demigod, he had every reason to say these words, except—

”Indeed, there aren’t that many Bloodline clan members, in the limits of your cognition.”

With a slight smile on his lips, Fu Qian looked up to the dome, his voice carrying a frenzy.

”The ancient glory that belongs to Him has already returned, the unforgotten memories will ultimately become reality.”

Ancient glory...

The term evidently had a significant impact on the Night Watchman, as Aike’s gaze flickered like a hard drive light, as if frantically searching memory.

”No malice... Do you have a way to prove this?”

After the Night Watchman retreated with a gesture, Ji Ning followed, coldly smirking once more.

”Of course, although I’m not too sure why you’re having trouble pulling it out, I think I can offer some help.”

Yet even in such troublesome self-proof situations, Fu Qian still responded fluently, and as he spoke, the thin blade in his palm changed direction and was almost effortlessly pressed down.

”Cutting the wound, smearing blood on it to obtain abstract information guidance, is that right?”

The gushing blood instantly engulfed the blade, but Fu Qian didn’t retract it hurriedly; instead, he meticulously ensured complete coverage, including the hilt and the sheath.
