Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1522: Chapter 1517: Human Pillar (26)

Can’t see?

Next to the long cabinet where things were taken, yet the door not even closed, stood a shrouded lady holding a cosmetic knife, her presence peculiarly harmonious with the scene.

In such a setting, Lady Ji Ning’s comments on the attire undeniably grew more chilling upon deeper thought.

However, even so, the overly simple and crude explanation Mr. An Ke provided instinctively made people hesitant to believe.

Throughout the journey, Lady Ji Ning’s eyes may not have been captivating, but they were sharp and agile, showing no sign of abnormality.

Not to mention, she accurately found another item, disregarding any visual impression.

Do you mean to say that such efficiency, even surpassing the beginning, was accomplished by a blind leader?

This eerie contrast indeed challenges one’s nerves excessively.

The problem is, if not accepting this explanation, how can one interpret Lady Ji Ning’s behavior before and after this issue—

”When did you realize it?”

Fortunately, this confusion didn’t last long; Madam Ji Ning soon snapped out of her daze and stopped fiddling with the dagger.

Is this an admission?

Though the questioning tone was mild, it was undeniably shocking.

Even as she spoke, her eyes seemed to become stagnant, as if no longer intending to disguise.

”Initially, I just felt something unusual, not that certain.”

Although supposedly meaningless eyes, the reflections within, coupled with Lady Ji Ning’s meaningful expression, exerted a peculiar pressure.

Yet Fu Qian neither retreated because of this nor felt complacent for practically confirming his suspicion, but calmly expressed his thoughts.

”I fully believe in your plan about the mark, including the talk of being twisted.”

”And precisely because of that, as a person with abundant imagination, I naturally envisioned what it could be like after being twisted.”

Fu Qian pointed at the clothes on Ji Ning, seemingly certain she could perceive this gesture.

”Knowing it’s there, yet having no sense of ordinary spatial concept; I must say, it’s a curious state, and the appearance of this garment elevates that abstraction further.”

”To the extent that a thought struck me: if many things including position are meaningless, then would eyes also become an obstacle in searching?”

”What followed was fascinating. You put on the clothes and didn’t want to take them off, while your search efficiency greatly improved.”

”Of course, this doesn’t prove anything. Initially, I thought perhaps this garment gives you some unbelievable guidance, only transmitting abstract information to you.”

”However, the way you found that second item made me deeply feel as if vision wasn’t needed at all.”

”Except for misjudging color, if your guidance didn’t precisely target a specific part of the cabinet, no one seeing such a huge item would proceed with that search sequence.”

Fu Qian stepped forward and gently closed the cabinet door.

”And if you received such precise guidance, then eyesight seems unimportant in it.”

”Of course, these are just inferences based on personal experience.”

...

”In a dangerously filled predicament, you’re saying you’ve experienced giving up vision before?”

Lady Ji Ning, listening attentively to Fu Qian, was mainly intrigued by the last sentence, asking with interest.

”Though the duration wasn’t long, indeed I have.”

Fu Qian straightforwardly satisfied this curiosity.

And the experience he mentioned naturally pertained to the exploration journey with the Sage and others under the Star Watchtower.

”Very well, I suddenly feel you might truly give it a try now.”

Lady Ji Ning actually smiled. The elegantly dressed elder seemed not to doubt the truth in Fu Qian’s words.

”You’re right, the moment I donned this garment, I realized I lost my sight.”

”Or put differently, sight twisted into another form; a different ’seeing’ replaced the eyes.”

It truly is!

At that moment, Luyi seemed ready to bolt for the exit.

Lady Ji Ning’s confirmation of Fu Qian’s speculation unquestionably made the scene increasingly surreal.

For instance, the previous actions were remarkably led by a blind person.

”But it doesn’t let you see colors?”

Yet Fu Qian’s prior academic spirit once again manifested.

Despite receiving confirmation, he remained unemotional and continued to delve deeper.

”Far from being such a clear concept.”

Lady Ji Ning’s smile remained undiminished.

”More precisely, you will only see colors at the moment you need to see them; likewise with shapes, textures, and so on. You cannot choose, only passively accept.”

”And among this multitudinous information is how to find traces, which I have verified to be correct.”

”Of course, before verification, I didn’t want my eyes to trigger too many doubts affecting efficiency, hence chose to temporarily conceal it.”

”Naturally, now it’s no longer necessary.”

...

Such a fascinating way of ’seeing’.

Even though Lady Ji Ning mentioned having the qualification to attempt it, Fu Qian wasn’t particularly focused on the dagger.

Instead, what sparked his imagination was the description of distorted vision.

As for the reactions of others in the team, they didn’t seem too peculiar.

Luyi and Lord Aike couldn’t hide their shock, while Mr. Li Sr. appeared thoughtful, as if having similar musings himself.

This reaction to some extent again validated previous ideas.

Li He and Lady Ji Ning were quite familiar and likely noticed some strangeness long ago, merely without revealing it.

At this point, it seemed like resolving previously held doubts.

”In any case, you’ve convinced me.”

Unfortunately, there’s often not so much room for unbridled imagination.

Evidently disliking wasting time, Lady Ji Ning instantly handed the dagger in her hand towards Fu Qian by the wooden cabinet.

”But no pressure needed, I’m very certain it also belongs to me, even knowing it will bring me new information, though it’s unclear why it won’t open, similar to not understanding why the colors are wrong.”

”Try it anyway, you can even pass it to others afterward—”

Lady Ji Ning’s words abruptly ceased, ”staring” at Fu Qian’s hands.

Amidst subtle friction, a slender, icy silver strand, merely the width of a finger, slipped out with ease.
