Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1505: Chapter 1500: Human Plant (9)

Why is it so noisy...

In that instant, amidst the instinctive alertness that arose, an unavoidable sense of confusion appeared as well, even a bunch of bafflement—

Why does it smell so hot...

Why does it look so sweet...

...

That sudden burst of brightness, as if a bomb was thrown into the five senses, tearing everything into shreds.

An intense sense of danger emerged, and Aike knew she was caught in some form of strong spiritual interference.

The anomaly she had been seeking appeared so suddenly.

But to deal with a Demigod, this was far from enough.

She was merely a mass of discolored flesh, but in that instant, it surged again, even light couldn’t be a barrier.

Within moments, her body transformed into a Ghost state, exuding a chilling aura.

With this transformation, the residual shockwaves of the sensory bomb seemed to lose its medium, rapidly dissipating.

At this moment, she no longer relied on conventional senses.

”Thunder!”

However, just then, she sensed an oscillating message from not far behind.

...

The deafening shout naturally came from Fu Qian.

As a member of the team, although he wasn’t charging at the forefront, he had undeniably captured the sudden bright light with his eyes, nose, and throat, and wasn’t any less affected by the sensory shockwaves.

But compared to Demigod Aike, although his Ranking within the current mission was forcibly suppressed, his rich life experience allowed Fu Qian to respond more calmly.

To be precise, he had encountered similar methods before when having a cordial exchange with Goto Hi from the Sea of Ashes.

Thus, after confirming the type of attack faced, Fu Qian’s first reaction wasn’t even to escape this disturbance, but rather to draw upon the power in his lower Dantian and let out a roar.

Of course, it would be more domineering if this roar was accompanied by golden lightning sweeping and slicing through everything around.

Regrettably, currently, he was playing the role of a brute of flesh and blood.

This roar at most counted as an intimidating shout, boosting his team’s Momentum—and informing the enemy that someone had arrived.

In fact, after the shout, Fu Qian didn’t even intend to move, continuing to leave the focal point to Aike.

”Please wait a moment!”

However, determination rewarded, as the voice of Thunder still reverberated in the space, a voice suddenly erupted.

...

Unfamiliar, female, elder.

The intimidation shout actually had an effect, and although the senses were muddled, Fu Qian still managed to gather some information from the response.

He even showed remarkable compliance, remaining unmoved in place.

”Aike?”

Yet the steadfast will of a Demigod is not to be underestimated, and simultaneously, an unending cold flow swept out from Aike up ahead, blasting in all directions.

Fu Qian didn’t think Aike intended to eliminate him as well, but with impaired perception causing unavoidable friendly fire, she clearly chose to cover everyone with firepower instead.

This act successfully triggered another scream, which even called out her name.

”Who is it...”

The chilling wind suddenly halted, and Aike, still warily floating in place, issued a voice filled with uncertainty from her ethereal form.

”Our side, don’t worry.”

As she eased, the other party also seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.

And as the disturbance completely ceased, it was obvious the voice came from behind the half-open door.

In the next silent moment, a quite tall figure for a woman emerged from inside.

Indeed an elder woman, hair slightly gray, yet her gentle face showed no wrinkles, and her attire was utterly simple in both color and style, appearing as a kindly elder.

Yet upon closer inspection, one would find that her pitch-dark eyes carried such depth, seeming to harbor endless mysteries.

At least a Demigod, and likely of the spiritual type.

As soon as this lady appeared, Fu Qian made the above judgment.

...

”Lady Ji Ning? Then just now...”

Almost simultaneously, Aike also reacted, even recognizing the new arrival.

”It’s me, sorry for earlier offense.”

Nodding slightly, the newcomer appeared quite relieved.

”I just wanted to ensure nothing was trailing behind, didn’t mean to accidentally harm you.”

Quickly explaining the sensory bomb’s reason, the lady Ji Ning looked up and down at Fu Qian.

”Who is this?”

”He claims to be Anke, not the security personnel here.”

Aike seemed finally reassured, casually explaining as her ghost-like manner quickly turned real again.

”Indeed not.”

Not bothering the Demigod to vouch for his background, especially when the counterpart seemed skeptical.

Although as a non-High Tier player, the sensory bomb left some lingering effects, Fu Qian’s demeanor remained unaffected as he seriously took over the conversation.

”I’m uncertain why I’m here, even these clothes and this face are not my own.”

”That’s truly strange and quite dangerous...”

Without showing any disdain due to Fu Qian’s Ranking, Ji Ning listened attentively to his statement, then sighed.

Hmm?

This word clearly puzzled Aike a bit.

”I noticed the trap was triggered, and when I rushed over, both of your states were quite unusual according to my perception.”

Ji Ning softly explained.

”You clearly transformed into some non-human state, and this one’s face I’ve seen before, it belongs to security personnel here, but absolutely not of such high Ranking.”

”...So we were mistaken for some sort of special Creations from this place, a potential threat?”

Only then did Aike also finally react, gaining a further understanding of the earlier situation’s urgency.

”Just about, and luckily Mr. An Ke shouted.”

Ji Ning smiled and shook her head.

”Though I didn’t understand its meaning, at least it confirmed you’re not mindless beings.”

”So what exactly does Thunder mean? Some kind of special ability?”

As she said this, Ji Ning seemed to recall this point, turning curiously towards Fu Qian.

”A codeword.”

For someone of her age to maintain such curiosity, Fu Qian internally praised her while sharing without reservation.

”In unfamiliar dangerous places, it facilitates rapid ally identification, for example, I say Thunder, you should respond with Lightning.”

...

For a moment, not only Aike but even the newly emerged Ji Ning fell into a brief silence.

”Simple, yet it does seem quite apt for the current situation.”

However, being more seasoned in societal ways, Ji Ning soon recovered, her initial response was still approval.

”Thunder.”

In the next moment, she even turned towards the half-open door and solemnly called out.

”Lightning.”

Hardly had the words fallen, a response indeed came from there.
