Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 465: Chapter 465 Wasteland Chapter (27)_1 Chapter 465: Chapter 465 Wasteland Chapter (27)_1 “`

Ji Yicheng? Or some other member of the Ji Family?

After all, it was said that Ashfall was a unique ability belonging to the Ji Family, quite symbolic indeed.

And if that was the case, Fu Qian felt as though he had witnessed a conspiracy against the Siren Group.

As competitors, it was not too difficult to understand that the Ji Family’s operatives would try to infiltrate the Siren’s exploration efforts to steal intelligence.

However, the adeptness of that individual hinted at another possibility — the information the Ji Family had might not have come from an undercover agent.

After all, consider this: the areas behind were unexplored by the Siren Group themselves; even if there was a mole, from where would the information leak?

Fu Qian clicked his tongue, now suspecting that it was likely the Ji Family who had discovered this place first.

But after that, instead of exploring further, they might have leaked the information to the Siren Group on purpose.

And the latter, being the largest force in the wasteland at the moment, naturally found this very interesting. They not only quickly organized resources for exploration but also tried to block the news.

Little did they know, everything was falling into the rival’s scheme.

In order to deceive the rival, the Ji Family even feigned effort, appearing to strive for intelligence, and deliberately raised suspicions of undercover infiltration.

It seemed the Ji Family had estimated a high level of danger in these ruins!

Fu Qian shook his head.

The Ji Family’s strategy was probably to distract their rivals and find an opportunity to vie for control of the wasteland.

But if the ruins were too small and weak to be quickly explored and resolved, it would mean losing soldiers without gaining ground.

The Ji Family must have initially explored and judged that there were significant dangers within, that Siren wouldn’t be able to quickly finish the exploration, and might even lose personnel in the process — only then would their actions make sense.

Indeed, the hatred amongst competitors is stark naked!

However, this kind of power struggle is just par for the course, nothing too extraordinary.

What Fu Qian was interested in was something else.

The brother who was secretly observing just now, the one who risked exposure to save Kelson and Sybil, that action was anyhow illogical.

No matter how you look at it, rivals killing each other would be good news; losing one or two Demigods would probably make them wake from their dreams laughing.

So what really motivated this person?

It seems that Brother Angel is indeed the key to the problem!

With this thought, Fu Qian didn’t delay any further, he left the hall and retraced his steps quickly through the corridor.

At the same time, he took out his handgun again, spilling a handful of empty shells, and reloaded with practiced ease.

…

“Why have you come out?”

At the ruins’ exit, the group that had left earlier was standing guard.

Ailina and Montes were no longer there; they must have been taken back for treatment.

Seeing Fu Qian returning alone, the group was full of suspicion, and one of them couldn’t help but ask.

Back to normal?

Fu Qian didn’t reply but nodded silently in his mind.

The one speaking had clearly exited that Saint status and had returned to normal emotional states.

In fact, even for himself, at this very moment, he could distinctly feel the change.

So, the influence was confined within the ruins?

For a moment, Fu Qian felt even more certain of his guess.

“If I remember correctly, you were asked to explore together inside?”

Not getting a response, the interrogator clearly became displeased, narrowing his eyes as he spoke coldly.

“We have orders not to let anyone in or out, so sorry, but we can’t let you leave for now.”

Despite Fu Qian’s mysterious reputation, the group still felt a natural psychological advantage over such an external member.

“Understood.”

Fu Qian nodded in response but didn’t stop moving.

“So no one has come out from here?”

“`

“Of course!”

That person huffed heavily.

“So you—”

The next moment, the gun barrel pressed against the forehead halted that person’s voice abruptly.

Although it was completely incomprehensible how Fu Qian could dare such an act, at such close range, a shot to the head was not something this person could withstand.

And given Fu Qian’s previous actions, it was clear this person dared not bet that Fu Qian wouldn’t shoot; thus, allowed Fu Qian to use them as a hostage with the gun to their head, leading them by the collar through the crowd.

During the humiliating process of being dragged along, this person actually wanted to say a few more words to Fu Qian, so there would be something to account for later.

Unfortunately, Fu Qian had no interest in doing so.

Considering his own actions inside, Fu Qian did not think there was room for explanation now.

Kelson and Sybil, unless they had lost their minds, would certainly be greeted by a Siren Group manhunt after coming out.

Of course, it wasn’t easy to say how much energy the Siren Group still had to spare for such matters at the moment.

After leaving the onlookers behind, Fu Qian casually threw the hostage to the ground and walked away.

There was a certain possibility that the city was already in chaos.

As the saying goes, ‘fish in troubled waters,’ in such a situation, it would be reasonable to grab someone for a beating, right?

…

Passing through an area that seemed like a swamp of flesh and blood, Fu Qian soon returned to the gathering area.

Almost immediately, he felt a different kind of deadly aura than before, and there were hardly any people to be seen on the streets.

This was not a good sign!

Fu Qian surveyed his surroundings and finally noticed a human figure.

Looking closely, it was even someone he knew.

The guy in the leather jacket who had had a conflict with him in the bar, seemed to be named Felix?

Fu Qian hesitated not and directly approached him.

Upon seeing Fu Qian, the man first froze for a moment, then his eyes lit up, and he stepped forward to block Fu Qian’s path.

“Hello there, we meet again!”

“Yeah, what’s happened?”

Fu Qian asked in a casual tone, gesturing around him.

“A few people died, nothing major.”

Felix still had a smile on his face.

“Dead people? People from Siren Group?”

“You’re more informed than I expected.”

Felix was taken aback once more, then switched to a sinister smile.

“Not just them.”

As he spoke, he stretched out two fingers.

“Lesson two, when the situation is chaotic, it’s best to stay at home.”

Before his words had finished, he already had a black dagger with specks of starlight in his hand, and he charged forward.

His train of thought was clear! Take advantage of the chaos to take out those he disliked, and then blame it on the feud between the two organizations.

Fu Qian thought this as he nodded, and faced with the Felix charging at him like a big bird, he sent out a forceful kick.

The next moment, the latter was sent flying backwards at a speed faster than he came, smashing a section of the corner wall to smithereens.

But Fu Qian had no intention of letting him off, stepping forward and pulling out his handgun.

“You—”

At this moment, Felix’s expression was extremely complex, with fear increasingly visible in it.

“Don’t be nervous!”

Fu Qian flicked the magazine with his finger, aimed at the man’s stomach, and pulled the trigger.
