Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 395: Chapter 395 Starry Prism_1

The prompt for task completion came through, yet Fu Qian’s hands did not stop moving.

No sooner had the kidney-plucking hand retracted than another shot forth, aiming straight for Claudio’s grizzled skull.

Crack!

Amid the snapping sound, he managed to physically liberate Claudio’s brain.

And unsurprisingly, on the skull that Fu Qian held in his hand, he found a smooth cut similar to the one on Teresa’s.

This…

At this moment, Li Min beside him, whose consciousness was already a bit muddled by the burning Inner Flame, still looked stunned at the scene.

What kind of deep hatred or grudge was this, to mutilate a corpse after killing it, feeling even more excessive than herself!

It sounded like just a clash of ideologies, could it be this brutal?

But regardless, the target had been duly executed.

Just now, her fearlessness in facing death was for the sake of revenge, and at this moment, Li Min no longer had a reason to seek death.

Snapping back to reality, she began to desperately disperse the flames enveloping her body.

Unfortunately, as soon as she thought about it, the flames on her body burst into an even larger circle, eliciting a pained groan from her.

Too much time had passed, and her body was nearly out of control, she couldn’t put out the flames on her own.

Very quickly, Li Min realized her predicament and subconsciously looked up at Fu Qian beside her, wanting to ask for help, only to find that she couldn’t even speak.

Hearing the commotion, Fu Qian glanced up at her and instantly understood the situation.

The next moment, a dazzling light burst forth.

Fu Qian casually activated the Decree Residue.

He wasn’t sure how effective this mind-cleansing aura would be on Li Min who was nearly burned senseless.

But this was the only skill he could think of that might have some effect.

She would have to fend for herself.

After doing all this, Fu Qian didn’t even glance at the effect and turned his head straight to Claudio’s corpse, his gaze settling on his missing piece of brain.

Amid the bloodstains, the grayish-white brain was still wriggling slowly.

Every single fissure on it opened and closed like eyelids, revealing blood-smeared eyeballs.

The eyeballs of various sizes rapidly swelled and burst like bubbles the next moment, turning into a stream of blood plasma.

At the same time, more eyeballs surfaced from within the brain, churning like a boiling hotpot.

Is this the Inner Eye? It looked sickening enough!

It was only when the image in front of him began to distort that the bursting of the eyeballs hadn’t completely stopped.

For this thing, Fu Qian was more inclined to believe it was some sort of manifestation of the Inner Eye concept, not simply eyeballs growing inside the head.

As the scene shifted, Fu Qian found himself back in the familiar warehouse.

[Mission Evaluation: Blind Messenger]

[The eye of righteousness is meaningless.

Transcendents cut eye-shaped notches on their skulls, attempting to glimpse the knowledge of the Divine Beings.

But this ludicrous act was far from achieving their goal, it was nothing but crude imitation.

Claudio never told these people the true meaning of the Inner Eye.

Just as he never told them, most of the initially received revelations came from himself.

As one truly capable of glimpsing the will of a Superior Being, Claudio saw an opportunity— to trigger a tide of rituals and steer a legitimate death amid the raging undercurrents, removing the initial instigator of this tidal force.

In the end, he chose Posey as the place, quietly fostering change.

When everything was proceeding smoothly, he even discovered the arrival of the avenger and was quite delighted.

However, unfortunately, he never thought, nor could he comprehend, that there might be powers capable of destroying this revelation.

In the final moments of his life, he had come to realize clearly that he was stepping into the eternal darkness]

[Play event recap?]

So, Roland and his group are basically self-deluded?

Sitting in his seat, Fu Qian pondered.

According to the summary, Roland and his people’s imagination wasn’t enough for them to have the ability to perceive “Divine Knowledge.”

Their god-given insights mostly came from Claudio, much like what Roland did for Che Shunyong.

So to sum it up, the insights related to the ritual in Posey City had essentially two sources—

Claudio’s sharing and the occasional enlightenment received by others due to being in the middle of the ritual, like Ms. Huang.

It must be said, Claudio’s plan was very meticulous.

If it weren’t for our kidney effort, he would’ve likely completed the ritual with the Spirit of Vengeance, Li Min, and witnessed the divine by now.

And considering his other words and actions, the supernatural realm of Posey City will probably be quite turbulent for a while.

As Fu Qian thought, he found his special reward.

The next moment, his hands sank, and something appeared in front of him.

What’s this?

Although Fu Qian was now quite experienced and knowledgeable, he still couldn’t help but frown slightly.

What appeared in his hands was a gigantic eyeball!

It was as big as a basketball, and its touch was soft and spongy like a colloid.

Not real, of course, but astonishingly lifelike.

Fu Qian examined the bright red blood vessels on the eyeball and came to a conclusion.

One of the bases for his judgment was that this thing had some extra structures compared to a regular eyeball.

At the side and back of the eyeball, where the optic nerve should be, there was a fist-sized hole.

The key was that this hole was extremely regular, even looking like a purposely designed entrance.

Fu Qian focused his attention on the reward, and lines of information appeared accordingly.

[Name: Starry Prism]

[Type: Special Item]

[Description: Establishes a connection with the stars, an artificial eye with the power of Insight that can glimpse knowledge from supernatural artifacts. Feed the supernatural artifact to it and then look into it at close range to use.]

[Note: When you are puzzled, you should learn to look at issues from a different angle.]

This thing is quite special!

After reading the introduction of the Starry Prism, Fu Qian was intrigued.

Combined with its appearance, it easily reminded him of Claudio’s Inner Eye.

Although this one is a craft, the two share some conceptual similarities.

It’s just that this ‘feeding’ seems to imply a one-way transaction.

That is to say, I might only obtain some related “knowledge” by sacrificing the items.

Fu Qian looked around the table.

Although he had accumulated some items over these past days.

Most of the items here held their own significance, and he was somewhat reluctant to feed them to the eyeball.

Wait a second!

The next moment, Fu Qian’s gaze fell on a dimly glowing green bracelet.

It seems there are still some things that could be fed to it.

He picked up the bracelet and weighed it in his hand; he had paid a whole 180,000 for it.

Come to think of it, he had always wanted to find out more about the person who left this bracelet, and wondered whether the Starry Prism could reveal anything.

With that thought, Fu Qian did not hesitate much and directly tried to place the bracelet next to the eyeball, near the suspected entrance.
