Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 366: Chapter 366 Lincheng Horror Story (Four)_1

A dark space, a strange atmosphere, a group of people already prone to suspecting the supernatural.

Under such circumstances, Fu Qian’s eerily rhetorical question was almost too fitting for the scene.

Especially for the remarkably imaginative Tan Ying, as she asked the question, her mind naturally conjured up many bizarre images.

And caught by Fu Qian’s glance, it was like the final twist in a horror film, exceptionally frightening.

Clamping her lips tight, Tan Ying barely managed to suppress a scream; her face had already lost all color.

No face for Fu Qian?

It was only now that the group understood the meaning behind Tan Ying’s words, and they all turned to look at the mirror in unison.

In the dim light, the old photograph behind indeed had no face for Fu Qian!

Hisss!

The group all drew in a sharp breath of cold air, looking at Fu Qian as if they had seen a ghost.

“Damn, are you human or a ghost!”

As the saying goes, extreme fear can lead to anger, and among the crowd, Young Master Qin couldn’t help but take a step back before finally erupting in anger, voicing what everyone was feeling.

“Aren’t you guys getting something wrong?”

Fu Qian looked at the group as if staring at a bunch of idiots.

“Not to mention whether it’s scientific, just think with a little bit of logical reasoning. The reflections of your six faces appear in an old photograph, from what standpoint are you accusing me of being abnormal?”

“Logically, shouldn’t I be the one suspecting? Fess up, are you six human or ghosts?”

…

After Fu Qian finished speaking, the six people exchanged looks at a loss.

Why does what he’s saying suddenly seem somewhat reasonable?

“Of course we’re human.”

Tan Ying’s classmate laughed, though it was a forced laugh.

“Then how do you explain the faces in the photograph?”

Fu Qian snorted and relentless pursued the question.

…

“We really can’t explain this at the moment, but we truly are all human, please believe us on this,”

Pei Yanqing said timidly from the side.

“I can believe that, but according to what you said, I’m different from you. If you’re human, then doesn’t it mean I’m not?”

“We really didn’t mean it like that…”

Pei Yanqing repeatedly waved her hands in denial.

“It’s just that we can’t figure out what’s going on. Why would such a strange illusion appear?”

Yes, yes.

The group chimed in agreement, then fell into deep thought.

“You’ve already answered your own question with the question itself.”

Fu Qian looked at the group with contempt.

“As living people, mysteriously appearing in a photograph of a haunted house, the only explanation is that it’s fake, just some kind of trick of the mind, that’s all!”

…That actually made sense.

“But why doesn’t it work on you?”

Tan Ying’s expression eased a bit, but she still looked at Fu Qian with suspicion.

“It’s hard to say.”

Fu Qian looked down, pretending to be in deep thought.

“Isn’t this place for groups of six? Maybe the trick can only accommodate six people? I came afterwards, there was no more space, so my face wouldn’t appear,” he suggested.

…

“That kind of makes sense!”

After hearing Fu Qian’s words, Young Master Qin was the first to respond.

You have to admit, once you stop worrying about the specifics, everything seems much simpler.

They had simply entered a high-quality haunted house and gotten scared by some device inside, just like witnessing a flawless magic trick.

Jiang Yuanliang also breathed a sigh of relief from the sidelines.

This trip to Lincheng had been overly thrilling for him!

Although he still couldn’t quite understand why he’d suddenly decided to come here, one thing was certain—it had been one heck of a ride.

But no matter what, after all the twists and turns, things seemed to be back on track and hadn’t gotten more abnormal.

At least they were still using logic they could understand to explain things.

“Should we… just get out of here first?”

He looked around at the others, tentatively asking.

…

After a roller coaster of adrenaline, everyone enjoyed their share of haunted house thrills for the day, but were also eager to leave the place. They unanimously agreed with the suggestion at once.

“Hold on, if what you’re saying is true, I have an idea—”

Tan Ying, however, wasn’t in a hurry to move, but was staring at Fu Qian with an expression of dissatisfaction.

She had wanted to tease and watch the kid make a fool of himself, but never expected to end up being the one startled and unsettled, which was a blow to her ego.

“You, go over there!”

The next moment, she unhesitatingly pointed at Young Master Qin, signaling for him to stand outside the open door of the room.

“Hide well, don’t let me see you from any angle.”

“What are you up to now?”

Realizing he was about to become a prop again, Young Master Qin clearly seemed reluctant, but Tan Ying’s gaze was so determined that he eventually chose to comply.

After confirming that Qin Mingze was absolutely not going to be seen in the mirror, Tan Ying waved Fu Qian over.

“You, come to the front.”

Alright.

Fu Qian clearly understood what she wanted to do, but still moved in front of the mirror as she requested.

“So now there are six people left in the room, according to your statement. Shouldn’t the face above now change to yours?”

Yeah, that’s actually a very simple way to verify it.

Following Tan Ying’s explanation, the group instantly understood her intention.

Curiosity overcame fear for a moment, and they all turned their gaze to the mirror together.

Huh?

The next moment, they all froze simultaneously.

First off, Qin Mingze’s face was indeed no longer to be found in the picture.

But at the same time, the faces in the picture didn’t resemble Fu Qian either.

He still hadn’t appeared in the picture!

The looks they gave Fu Qian took on a strange quality once again.

“Did I count wrong?”

At this point, Pei Yanqing began to mutter to herself.

“On the picture, does it seem like there’s one person missing?”

Huh?

Once she brought it up, everybody’s scalps tingled in shock.

Indeed, upon closer inspection, the picture seemed to have one less person than before.

“So how should we explain this?”

While everyone was trembling with fear, Tan Ying was struggling to find the right words.

Although Fu Qian couldn’t see the magical scene in the eyes of the others, he could easily guess what had happened based on their reactions.

“So, what changes do you guys see in the picture now?”

“Qin Mingze’s face is definitely gone, but there’s also one less person…”

Tan Ying swallowed hard.

“Is that so?”

Fu Qian rubbed his chin, looking deep in thought.

“Actually, it might not be that hard to explain.”

A few seconds later, he snapped his fingers, as if he had an epiphany.

“How so?”

Tan Ying’s eyes brightened.

“That’s naturally because… he’s become just like me—”

Fu Qian’s tone sounded quite normal at first, but the pace of his speech suddenly stretched with the latter half.

At the same time, he adjusted his facial muscles, making a face ten times more sinister than before.

If you’re on the hunt for thrills, you follow through to the end.

Ah—

The next moment, Tan Ying’s scream finally echoed through the room.
