I Return From Hell

Chapter 27: Chapter 25: Blood-Stained Interrogation Room

”Grand-matriarch, I was blinded by greed! I beg you, please spare me.”

Manager Ma kowtowed frantically, completely ignoring the injury to his mouth.

Xia Yu didn’t even spare him a glance. Staring at the monitor, she soon found Yisuti, who had put on some human clothes to cover her vital parts.

ZZZT.

A human head flew through the air, destroying the surveillance camera. The monitor screen abruptly went blank.

The monitor feeds for the fourth and third sub-levels all went dark.

They had clearly all been destroyed by Yisuti.

”She’s too fast. She’s already on the second sub-level.”

Xia Yu’s brow furrowed slightly.

There were over a dozen people on the fourth and third sub-levels combined. So little time had passed, yet they had all been killed.

Besides, Yisuti couldn’t have eaten all of them; her stomach wasn’t that big.

If all those bodies turned into Mutants and swarmed up here at once, she would have no choice but to hide in the monitoring room, not daring to go out.

’So...’

’I have to deal with Yisuti as quickly as possible.’

Xia Yu quickly formulated a plan. When Yisuti destroyed another camera, Xia Yu saw that she had arrived at the door to the interrogation room. She spoke, ”Let’s go. To the interrogation room.”

BANG.

Xie Shaokun kicked Manager Ma to the ground and asked, ”Yu, what should we do with him?”

Xia Yu walked away without looking back.

Xie Shaokun hurried to follow. He thought Xia Yu was going to let the man go. Just as they stepped out of the interrogation room, he couldn’t help but speak up again. ”Yu, this guy did a lot of unforgivable things with Brother Li.”

”Killing him wouldn’t even be going too far.”

Xia Yu suddenly asked, ”Do you dare to kill him?”

”I...”

Xie Shaokun hesitated.

Killing a living person.

Right now, it wasn’t that he didn’t dare. The main thing was that he couldn’t get over the mental block. Having lived in peaceful times for so long, his own moral code wouldn’t allow him to do it.

’Alright, he really didn’t dare.’

”The interrogation room door can’t be locked,” Xia Yu said nonchalantly, not surprised by Xie Shaokun’s reaction.

Hearing this, Xie Shaokun’s eyes lit up.

The frustration in his heart dissipated, and he felt an inexplicable sense of relief.

...

...

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.

Yisuti knocked on the interrogation room door. She noticed another camera in the distance aimed at her. Her lovely brow knitted slightly, and with a flick of her wrist, a head went flying.

CRACK.

The camera burst apart.

It hated being watched, yet it couldn’t find the observer.

’How do humans manage to do this?’

It was very curious.

At the same time, it also found it strange. Why hadn’t its two children appeared yet?

’Playing around?’

’Or being greedy with their food?’

Shaking her head, Yisuti didn’t let her thoughts turn to the worst-case scenario. These humans were simply too weak. Even the reanimated humans weren’t that much stronger.

If a fierce battle broke out, it would surely hear the commotion.

’I can just go and support them then.’

Little did it know.

Just around a nearby corner, its two children were lying silently.

Separated by life and death.

「Inside the interrogation room.」

The moment they heard the knocking, Brother Li and the others trembled in fear.

They all held their breath.

Not daring to make the slightest sound.

Sister Yan needed to fart but could only hold it in forcefully.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.

The knocking grew louder and louder.

The entire door was trembling violently, shaking dust loose. It looked like it could shatter at any moment.

’If I had known, I would have hidden in the monitoring room,’ Brother Li thought to himself.

While escaping for his life earlier, he had been chased by a Mutant, and in his panic, he hadn’t thought things through. Now, he was filled with regret.

BOOM.

The door was smashed to pieces.

Yisuti looked at the pile of things barricading the doorway: candlesticks, red embroidered shoes, bricks, a cross... There was a bit of everything. She couldn’t help but frown before kicking out.

The immense power sent the entire door flying, along with all the torture implements.

The red embroidered shoes were made of iron. They had always been a favorite of Xiao Cai’s, a torture device he had insisted on having forged. He had even personally used them to punish No. 7.

And now...

”Ah.”

Xiao Cai was struck in the head by the red embroidered shoes, and his brains splattered on the spot.

He died instantly.

The machete fell to the ground.

The red embroidered shoes also fell to the ground.

Brother Li’s heart skipped a beat. He hurriedly snatched up the machete and aimed it at the fiend walking in through the doorway.

Huh?

A woman?

Such a beautiful one?

He was stunned.

The immense contrast left him momentarily unable to process it.

”Have you seen my children?”

Yisuti spoke, looking as if she were about to burst into tears. ”My children are missing,” she sobbed.

The group exchanged glances, looking from the bloody, mangled pulp of Xiao Cai to Yisuti, their expressions strange.

”If you won’t talk, then I’ll just have to ask you one by one.”

Yisuti spoke again, extending a finger and waving it in front of the group.

Whoever her finger passed over became incredibly tense.

Suddenly, her finger stopped, pointing at Sister Yan.

”You. You tell me.”

”I... I don’t know...”

Terrified, Sister Yan shuddered, yanked Ye Zilan from the side to stand in front of her, and said, ”She knows! She must know!”

”What are you doing?”

Startled, Ye Zilan shook off Sister Yan’s hand and scrambled to the side, putting distance between them.

Brother Li and No. 9 also backed away from Sister Yan.

In an instant, Sister Yan was isolated and helpless, like a discarded pawn.

”Brother Li, save me.”

She was desperate. Being stared at by Yisuti made the hair on her body stand on end, and she felt as if she’d been plunged into an icy cavern. ”I’m begging you.”

Brother Li’s gaze flickered, but he remained unmoved.

Sister Yan was about to say more when Yisuti bizarrely opened her chest.

The two sides of the opening were lined with dense rows of sharp, slender teeth that glinted coldly in the light, a truly chilling sight.

It was like a gigantic mouth.

”AHHH!”

Sister Yan was so scared she collapsed to the ground on the spot. Her mind went blank, and all she could do was scream to release the terror in her heart.

THWIP.

A long, scarlet tongue shot out from Yisuti’s chest, rocketing into Sister Yan’s open mouth at extreme speed and emerging from the back of her head.

The next moment.

Sister Yan’s screams stopped abruptly.

The scarlet tongue retracted, its barbs acting like fishhooks, snagging the inside of Sister Yan’s mouth and dragging her forward into the giant maw on Yisuti’s chest.

CRUNCH.

The chest closed. Its upper body writhed continuously, and horrifying chewing sounds came from within.

Then, a bizarre scene unfolded:

Yisuti’s bulging chest began to shrink at a rate visible to the naked eye.

Clearly, its digestive ability was astonishing.

”Holy shit!”

”What kind of monster is that!”

Brother Li wasn’t very articulate; those two words were all he could find to express his terror. The machete even fell from his terrified grasp.

Just a moment ago, when Sister Yan had suggested having No. 1 and the others lure the monster away, he had been thinking: ’I can use the monster to kill everyone who knows my secrets. After this whole bizarre incident is over, I can wash my hands of it all and get away clean.’

’Then I’ll take all the money I’ve earned and live a life of luxury.’

’Maybe I’ll do some charity work on the side, you know, build up some good karma.’

Sister Yan knew too much about him, so naturally, she was the first one he wanted to get rid of. But he never would have imagined that there was more than one kind of monster here.

This monster right here was even more terrifying than those dried-corpse-like ones.

The sight of Sister Yan being killed had flipped the switch on the deepest-seated terror in Brother Li’s heart.

All his scheming vanished; his only thought was to survive.

He quickly reached for his back...
