Players' NPC Big Daddy

A Blessing was a highly convenient thing. Experience and knowledge that would normally take decades to acquire could be easily obtained just by learning the corresponding Skills and Professions.

The advantage was its ease; the disadvantage was that once an opponent used Identification, one would be completely seen through, with all their abilities laid bare.

Those without Blessings simply lacked a Blessing to narrate their hard work, so they were always capable of delivering unexpected surprises—or scares.

Take Herbie, for example. She wasn’t a Blessed One, but she was absolutely far superior in business compared to Blessed Ones who actually possessed the [Merchant] Profession.

And now, with just one glance, Herbie saw the true value of the Copper Coins in Blaze’s hand.

”Ancient Bronze Coins...” Blaze stared at the Copper Coins in his hand. Judging by Herbie’s reaction, he almost couldn’t recognize these old friends of his anymore.

He couldn’t quite remember what these Copper Coins used to look like. After all, no one ever paid attention to the appearance of the lowest denomination of currency.

But there was no doubt that after receiving the Black Beast Knight’s Blessing, his Copper Coins had changed. Perhaps the Black Beast Knight had been carrying something similar to Copper Coins back then. Just as he had taken the Black Beast Knight’s place in wearing the Armor, his three Copper Coins had replaced the Black Beast Knight’s Copper Coins.

”This should be the currency of your homeland,” Herbie said. ”You might be able to find some clues about your origins on them to restore your Memory.”

Blaze kept his mouth shut. It wasn’t that Herbie hadn’t probed into his background before, but his answer had always been amnesia.

Although Herbie was exceptionally shrewd, the good thing was that she genuinely knew nothing. Thus, she believed him and even earnestly asked if he needed to purchase the [Memory Recovery Package].

”If you can find anything out, then I’ll give you—”

Before Blaze could finish his sentence, Herbie immediately leaned in, her eyes shining as she held out both hands.

”Just one.”

”YAHOO!”

Like a little kid who just got her allowance, Herbie happily ran off. Since Audrey currently couldn’t show her face, Blaze naturally couldn’t wander around the streets casually either. Only Herbie was free to do whatever she wanted.

Following the secret passage arranged by [Hermes’ Travel Hat], Blaze returned to the tavern. Without stopping, he headed straight into the underground cellar.

As the old cliché went, the underground cellars of famous taverns were usually repurposed from graveyards or prisons. Places where Ghosts or resentment existed—or had once existed—would permanently maintain a [Cold] and [Dry] status, making them perfect for use as wine cellars.

The Dionysus Tavern’s underground cellar used to be a combination of a graveyard, prison, and torture chamber. Terrifying scratch marks still lingered on the bluestone bricks, which were imbued with the [Cold] and [Dry] status. Normally, a place like this would definitely harbor Monsters like Ghosts.

But this was the Dionysus Tavern’s underground cellar, the storage site for Dionysus Wine.

[Dionysus Wine]

[Enshrined in wooden barrels made of Church thorns and cypress wood, this Divine Wine of the Human Realm is brewed from grapes Cultivated in the land of ???. The living will fall into a deep stupor upon drinking it, while the dead will have their resentment washed away upon touching it, moving on to the afterlife.]

[Edible, and can also be used as an Exorcism Tool.]

”Isn’t this a bit too overpowered? Speaking of which, why weren’t you sent to the afterlife after drinking it?” Blaze flicked the chicken’s rear end on his shoulder. He clearly remembered the way the chicken had soaked her entire body in the Dionysus Wine.

”This concentration will only make me sleep a little longer at most, and the quantity isn’t enough.” The chicken struggled to gesture a rather modest size with her wings. ”I can grow even more massive. If you really want to affect me, you’d need at least a river’s worth.”

”How much money would that cost...” Blaze glanced at the price tag hanging on the wine barrel. It was a string of Zeros, and they were Gold Coins.

Perhaps the reason Flying Brick chose to fight Yamata head-on wasn’t out of confidence or disdain for using cheap tricks, but because he would have gone bankrupt long before he could get Yamata drunk.

The second ritual was roughly the same as the first. This time, the created body was larger, and the process of gluing the feathers on one by one was extremely tedious. The most important part was the placement of the Soul Seed.

Previously, he had placed the Soul Seed in the heart because the chick’s skull was too small. From now on, it would always be placed in the skull, the location meant to enshrine the soul.

Once the soul’s placement was correct, the creature would be considered completely resurrected.

This chicken could finally be of some use!

”Go, chicken!”

The chicken rolled her eyes at Blaze. Her body withered, and a seed glowing with a faint green light flew out from the desiccated corpse and burrowed into the new body.

[Skill Level increased]

[Soul Seed F to E]

[Destiny is now intertwined with the Night Watcher’s Soul]

The noble Peregrine Falcon raised her head, her narrow, elongated eagle eyes admiring her grayish-black feathers with a hint of humanized charm.

”Finally. The noble me finally has a decent body.”

[Vidforlir / Night Watcher’s Soul]

[Skills: Noble Soul Z / Piercing Claw E / Supersonic Flight F / Three-dimensional Maneuvering F / Map F / Hawkeye F]

”[Map] and [Supersonic Flight]?” Blaze inspected the parts of the chicken’s Skills that caught his interest.

[Map F]

[Remember the observed terrain.]

[Supersonic Flight F]

[Can occasionally fly at supersonic speeds.]

”Mhm, this is proof of an excellent private postman.”

”SQUAWK! P-Postman?!” The chicken’s elegant posture faltered, dropping a few feathers. ”This elegant and sharp body isn’t going to be stained with blood, but used for delivering letters?!”

”Human, don’t you think that’s a waste?”

”Not a waste at all. Only those who are trustworthy and highly capable can become... a postman who escorts private information.” Seeing the chicken’s suspicious look, Blaze knew that casually bluffing wouldn’t be enough to make this self-proclaimed noble creature obediently act as a postman.

He had to put a little more effort into his bluff.

”Think about it. Doesn’t a postman possess all the Map intelligence? Wouldn’t such an entity be an incredibly important scout and vanguard on the battlefield? And once you become stronger, you’ll upgrade directly from a scout to an assassination squad.

”Before I even know what happened, you’ll have already taken out the enemy, proudly bringing back their head to enjoy my worship.”

”W-Worship?! Ohoho~ Worship~”

The chicken spread her wings, half-closing her eyes in intoxication. She was probably already fantasizing about the scene of being worshipped.

Seeing the chicken like this, Blaze knew it was settled.

[Unlocked Skill: Deception Skill F]

[Can easily bluff a little kid into handing over their favorite toy.]

”Hey, rooster of High Heaven, your Intelligence is at a little kid’s level,” Blaze thought to himself.

Blaze left the underground cellar and went up to the tavern. Herbie and Audrey were sitting on either side of the bar, studying something.

It seemed he had stayed in the cellar for quite a long time.

”Profiteer, Lady, what are you looking at?”

The chicken made a hasty entrance. Normally, she couldn’t even be bothered to speak, but now she couldn’t wait to show off her beautiful figure.

”Ooh~ Amazing, so amazing~”

”Quite pretty.”

Her pride wounded by their perfunctory reactions, the chicken flew back to Blaze’s shoulder.
