Chapter 614: Chapter 246: Giant Serpents (Part 3)

This is definitely a Demon Beast.

Each giant snake, its tongue flickering in the air, seemed to treat these twenty-three people in front of it as food, slowly advancing towards them.

Elder Qi, seeing this, said, ”Prepare for battle, take out the Seven-leafed One-flowered Plant.”

Everyone from the Great Wilderness Border Village entering the Great Mountain would carry a Seven-leafed One-flowered Plant with them.

After taking them out, a faint floral scent wafted through the air, as if forming a protective shield, guarding them.

However, the dozens of snakes were not affected at all, continuing to advance towards them, their tiny eyes staring intently at everyone, as if they would swallow them into their bellies in the next moment.

”Elder Qi, what do we do?” someone asked.

Elder Qi drew the machete from his waist, the others did the same without needing a word.

The machetes in their hands gleamed brightly, and when held before them, clearly reflected their faces.

This batch of machetes was forged by the blacksmiths from Cast Iron Village. Currently, there were only ten total in the entire Great Wilderness Border Village, all equipped for the hunters who went into the mountains to protect the children.

”Leave two to guard the children, the rest, fight our way out with me.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Elder Qi charged out with the machete, using his aged body to carve a bloody path for them, and the remaining five followed suit, rushing forward.

The children were the future of the Great Wilderness Border Village, especially those who had been refining their bodies since childhood, their potential far outstripping these middle-aged men.

The giant snakes blocking their way stood tall, meeting the charging hunters with their heads in direct confrontation with the machetes.

”Clang---”

”Clang---”

”Clang---”

”Clang---”

”Clang---”

”Clang---”

Simultaneously, six crisp sounds echoed through the silent thicket, like two steel machetes clashing, clear and strong.

The children looked towards the direction of the sound, only to see the large snakes facing the hunters being pushed back several meters, while the hunters stood firm.

Seeing this, they showed joyous expressions.

”Great, it’s working.”

”The giant snakes have been forced back.”

”Elder Qi has opened a path for us.”

...

The children assumed that the advantage was theirs, shouting excitedly, their blood boiling.

For the past month, they had entered the Great Mountain almost every day, with Elder Qi and the others teaching and protecting them daily.

But in this month, they hadn’t encountered any large Demon Beasts, mainly due to Elder Qi’s vast experience.

Today, one could say, this was the first real battle they witnessed.

This first battle, with the advantage being theirs, and facing a Demon Beast no less, gave them a huge confidence boost.

Only the two hunters responsible for protecting the children noticed something was off with the six people.

After several breaths’ time, the six remained standing still, and upon closer inspection, they saw their hands holding the machetes were trembling, and the formidable machetes now had several small notches.

The two thought they were seeing things and rubbed their eyes, confirming again.

They found that each of the six had notches on their machetes.

Now, they understood why the six stood still and their hands trembled.

Immediately, the two shifted their gaze to the snakes pushed back several meters, seeing that their heads, which had collided with the machetes, were unscathed, now slowly crawling towards the six.

The six exchanged a glance and thought inwardly, ”Not good.”
