The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 854: Chapter 335: Screw Your Tragic Beauty (Part 5)

During this time, the real mother would have already been busy serving her parents or working tirelessly for her younger brother.

However, this time He Xiaobao was wrong.

Ms. Hetian came up to He Xiaobao, and without a word, lifted the firewood off his back.

”Mom?!” He Xiaobao was even more scared; could it be that his real mother finally found him useless, a waste of food, and was going to abandon him?

”Mom, here, there are some grass roots here, I, I won’t eat rice, I’ll eat these grass roots—”

So, please don’t abandon me.

In He Xiaobao’s beautiful phoenix eyes appeared a look of fear, with a faint glimmer of tears.

Seeing how frightened He Xiaobao was, Ms. Hetian was initially puzzled — this child, I didn’t do anything, why are you afraid?

But quickly, from today on, with her mind becoming especially clear, Ms. Hetian understood.

Her son was scared.

Whether he was worried about being abandoned, or worried that his real mother would hurt him, it all only pointed to one thing —

She, Ms. Hetian, as a mother, was truly, truly, truly unqualified!

”Absolutely a top-grade failure, damn it, unfit to be a mother!”

Ms. Hetian silently cursed herself in her heart, even though it seemed strange to scold herself, she couldn’t help it!

Where in the world is there a mother like Ms. Hetian?

Fine, you care about your maternal family and feel for your younger brother and nephew, there’s nothing wrong with that.

But, you should make sacrifices yourself, why drag innocent people into it?

Even though he is your own child, once he is born, he is an independent individual, not anyone’s possession!

By what right does Ms. Hetian make He Xiaobao suffer for her?

A six-year-old child, who should totally trust his mother, yet what happened?

Ms. Hetian was extremely angry at her past self, but she knew that now was not the time for self-loathing.

”Nonsense! How can you eat grass roots? Your grandma made flatbreads, we’ll go back and eat flatbreads and vegetable soup!”

Ms. Hetian suppressed her guilt and a surge of tears, cleared her throat, and gently spoke to He Xiaobao.

Hearing the words ”flatbread,” He Xiaobao subconsciously swallowed his saliva.

He was somewhat tempted, and his stomach was growling non-stop.

But in the end, he still shook his head with difficulty, ”Grandma said, we don’t have much food, and I’m just a useless eater, I can’t eat too much!”

He Xiaobao was definitely not complaining in front of his mother, because ”useless eater” was already the mildest term amidst Old Lady Han’s many insults.

There were many more hurtful words that He Xiaobao simply couldn’t repeat.

Not that he didn’t want to, but saying them was pointless.

His mother wouldn’t just hear those words, even if she personally witnessed his grandma pointing at his nose and scolding him as a little wolf cub that couldn’t be fed, she would only blame him for being disobedient, causing his elders to get angry.

”What useless eater? Xiaobao, have you forgotten that when mom brought you back to grandma’s house, she brought a whole cartful of grain.”

”And that noisy donkey too, it’s from the He Family.”

Ms. Hetian no longer wanted to curse herself because no amount of scolding could offset the harm she had done to her own flesh and blood!

Instead of wasting energy cursing herself, it was better to take good care of her son!

Ms. Hetian bent down and, with just one hand, effortlessly lifted her son.

Her body’s strength was indeed great; though she looked thin and was long underfed, she was still strong as an ox.

With one hand carrying the firewood, and the other holding a six-year-old boy weighing twenty or thirty pounds, Ms. Hetian was completely at ease.

”Xiaobao, in the past, mommy was confused, but no more in the future!”

”Mommy will take good care of our Xiaobao, and make him plump and fair—”

She weighed her son’s weight in one hand, realizing he was only a bit over thirty pounds.

This was a six-year-old boy; theoretically, he should have at least over forty pounds.

He was clearly lacking in height too.

His little face was sallow, hair sparse, tiny hands like chicken claws, just skin and bones without any flesh.

Ms. Hetian sniffled, rubbing her head against the child’s body, wiping away the tears of heartache.

Though He Xiaobao felt his mother was acting odd today, being held by her and hearing her apology was rare, and he felt a deep sense of emotion.

The previous estrangement from his mother seemed to disappear.

Ah, it can only be said that children are indeed naturally attached to their parents.

Even if the mother had ignored or even abused him before, a single tender word, a warm embrace from her, and the child could forget everything and choose to trust his mother again.

No matter how precocious He Xiaobao might be, he was only a six-year-old child.

So, hearing these words from his mother, he was no longer afraid but instead became interested in discussing with her, ”Mom, fatter than Fu Gui?”

”Yes, even fatter than him! But our Xiaobao is more handsome.”

As a normal mother, she ought to see her own child as the best.

One’s nephew is family, but they should not overshadow one’s own flesh and blood!

Starting today, Ms. Hetian decided to be a ”son-slave,” to make up doubly for the past neglect of her son...
