My Silly, Sweet Wife

Mai Gu was completely dumbfounded, his eyes staring straight at those boxes of gold, as if he couldn’t pull himself out of it.

It took several calls from Ye Guichen for Mai Gu to respond, face flushed, ”Exciting, really exciting.”

”Master Mai, if I give all this to you, how do you plan to handle it?”

Ye Guichen wasn’t too obsessed with money.

The gold bars and those jewels probably amounted to several hundreds of billions at the very least.

According to Mai Gu, the previous one hundred billion on that card was more than enough for the development of the Shennong Sect.

However, when it came to spending money, Ye Guichen genuinely didn’t know how to spend it.

If it really came down to it, he could hand the gold over to the Star Group under the Heavenly God Temple to manage. That should work too.

But when Mai Gu heard that Ye Guichen intended to give him the gold, his legs instantly went weak. He quickly waved his hands, shaking his head like a rattle drum, ”No, no, no, Sect Leader, you’re really overwhelming me! Last time, you gave me one hundred billion, and I haven’t even spent it. If you give me this gold too, I’d never breathe easy again.”

Even though Mai Gu was the head of the Chinese Medicine Association in Jiangnan Province and the Mai Family held considerable influence in Qinghe, their combined messy assets were only around tens of billions at most.

More so, those tens of billions included real estate, and the cash probably wouldn’t even reach a billion.

Suddenly holding over a hundred billion in cash had already made him flustered. Now added with these hundreds of billions in gold and jewels, he probably wouldn’t even know where to throw it.

”Haha, Master Mai, alright, alright, I was just teasing you.” Seeing Mai Gu scared pale, Ye Guichen casually took two gold bars out of the box, threw one to Mai Gu, put one in his own pocket, and then put his arm around Mai Gu’s shoulder, ”Master Mai, actually, I came today to tell you that you want to develop the Shennong Sect, right? Go ahead, we aren’t short on money, just spend it lavishly!”

Mai Gu’s face was flushed, losing any semblance of an elder, instead looking shy like a child, ”Hehe, Sect Leader, don’t laugh, you really shocked me! But there is something I can’t quite handle, how about you come with me?”

”Sure!” Ye Guichen didn’t hesitate and walked out side by side with Mai Gu.

Mai Gu had expected Ye Guichen to decline, and had thought of many ways to persuade him. Seeing him agree so readily, he felt a bit uneasy, ”Sect Leader, you agreed without even asking what it is?”

”Besides matters of the Shennong Sect, you wouldn’t bring it up.” Ye Guichen locked the iron door again, then as they were walking, said, ”If I’m not mistaken, you encountered resistance in opening the Chinese Medicine Hall?”

”Sect Leader, are you a deity?” Mai Gu was utterly impressed.

The more time he spent with Ye Guichen, the less he could see himself as an elder.

Unknowingly, he felt that even without the sect leader’s title, he was indeed a head lower.

Ye Guichen grinned, ”Alright, Master Mai, don’t make such a fuss. Just tell me where we’re going, and we can head there now.”

With King Yan dead, Ye Guichen felt much lighter.

Although the words King Yan said before he died weighed heavily on him like a knot, there was no need to worry about things that had yet to happen.

”Oh right, Master Mai, didn’t I give you a gold bar? Exchange it for cash later, and consider it your service fee!” Ye Guichen casually mentioned after getting into the car.

Mai Gu bashfully replied, ”Hehe, that’d be a bit embarrassing.”

Previously worried Ye Guichen had no money, Mai Gu now felt comfortable taking it.

This money was peanuts to Ye Guichen, and if Mai Gu refused, he’d just be being pretentious.

Besides, Ye Guichen trusted him enough to hand over a hundred billion.

On the way, Mai Gu explained the situation roughly.

It turned out that after some investigation in the past few days, Mai Gu had taken a liking to a storefront, intending to buy it, do a bit of remodeling, and open a Chinese Medicine Hall to test the waters.

However, another well-known Chinese Medicine Hall in Jinling also had its eyes on the storefront and even threatened that if Mai Gu dared to compete, they’d make sure he couldn’t stay in Jinling.

As an old man, though skilled, how could Mai Gu fight against the local powers?

”Sect Leader, I now suspect that the Chinese Medicine Hall is under orders from the Chinese Medicine Association of Jinling, deliberately trying to stop me from opening one here.” Mai Gu caressed the gold bar, smiling while cursing with gritted teeth.

It was a bizarre sight.

Ye Guichen glanced sideways at Mai Gu, amused.

The old man, like he had never seen money before, joyfully holding a gold bar, looked like an old child.

Unknowingly, they arrived at the place Mai Gu had mentioned.

After parking the car, Ye Guichen looked up and frowned.

It really was a coincidence.

The storefront Mai Gu had his eyes on turned out to be Tianhe Martial Arts Hall.

Last time, due to a fire, only the master’s son, Fang Yu, was left at the martial arts hall.

Though Fang Yu had become the heir to the hall, he was still young. Despite his ambitions to fulfill his father’s wishes, he would likely find it hard to do so alone.

It seemed now that Fang Yu couldn’t hold on and was preparing to sell the hall.

When they arrived at the martial arts hall’s entrance, the door was closed but not locked.

Ye Guichen and Mai Gu pushed the door open and entered.

The inside lights were off, making the place dim.

But they vaguely heard someone sobbing softly.

Due to the fire, the martial arts hall was in ruins.

No cleanup had been done. Besides some non-flammable equipment, the interior decor had been completely consumed by the fire.

Following the sound, Ye Guichen came to where the training stage used to be.

The protective materials there had turned to ashes, leaving only a small concrete stand nearby.

On the steps of the stand, a young boy had his head buried in his knees, crying softly.

Upon hearing footsteps, the boy looked up and was surprised to see Ye Guichen, ”Brother Ye?”

The boy was Fang Yu.

Mai Gu also found it odd, ”Sect Leader, you know each other?”

Ye Guichen nodded and walked up to Fang Yu, ”What’s going on? Didn’t you aim to keep the hall running? How come you’re selling it after just a few days?”

Fang Yu tried hard to hold back his emotions, forcefully wiping away his tears, managing a smile that looked worse than crying.

”Brother Ye, I, I didn’t want to, but, but I had no choice.” Noticing Mai Gu for the first time, Fang Yu’s eyebrows slightly raised in surprise, ”Brother Ye, isn’t this the old man who wanted to buy the hall to open a Chinese Medicine Hall? How come he is with you?”
