Reborn In The 90's: Saving My Siblings With A Fishing System

Shen Lingxue’s face turned pale. She thought that Han Ruochen was taunting her for being too young. She was filled with anger, but she did not lose her temper; instead, she raised her chin and admitted it with a sneer. ”So what if I like him? I have liked him since I was a child. I want to be his bride; after all, the two of them have been engaged since we were children. Brother Zhai is outstanding, and he deserves only someone like me, whose family background is compatible with his.

”Only someone who has both power and family background deserves to be his wife. I already had one perfect aspect, and if I had become Old Master Xu’s disciple, then I would have become simply the perfect wife for Brother Zhai, but you ruined it all!”

”So what are you trying to say? On one hand, you say that your family background is important, plus you also need to have power and authority of your own, but at the same time you say that you are Brother Muchen’s fiancée. Can you please clarify this matter for me? Either you are his fiancée accepted by his family, or you are still trying to become a part of his family by rising in prominence. It’s either one of the two things.”

Shen Lingxue’s face turned pale when she heard Han Ruochen’s questions. She knew what the woman was trying to say to her and immediately curled her lips into a sneer. ”I am his fiancée. It’s just that I don’t want to embarrass Brother Zhai; that’s the only reason I am working hard, because I want to stand next to him with pride and honour. I am unlike those women who do nothing but wait to marry over.”

”I see.” In contrast to Shen Lingxue’s aggressiveness, Han Ruochen had an innocent smile on her lips. She tilted her head to one side and asked sharply, ”Then according to your words, even I am considered someone with abilities, right?”

”You...” Shen Lingxue wanted to deny that Han Ruochen had any ability. However, when she thought about how Han Ruochen, despite her age, pointed out such huge mistakes in her map, a woman who had taken advice from the experts of the department of oceanology. Even if she was thick-skinned, she could not bring herself to say that Han Ruochen had no ability; after all, that would be going against her conscience.

She had no qualms about insulting Han Ruochen by using her age, but she could not say that the woman was unintelligent and had no ability. That would be a slap in her own face.

”Judging by your reaction, it seems like you too accept that I have the ability. I am quite happy about it.”

”...”

Who wanted to acknowledge her?

Shen Lingxue did not say a word, and Han Ruochen continued, ”I have become the little disciple of Old Master Xu. May I ask you another question? Can I be considered someone who has status now?”

Shen Lingxue turned pale. She badly wished Han Ruochen, who was smiling as brightly as the sun, a slap in the face. Shameless! This woman was utterly shameless!

She was supposed to be the little disciple of Old Master Xu, and yet because of Han Ruochen, she lost her chance. This woman was simply too unscrupulous and scheming. She actually used Old Master Xu’s name to suppress her.

Han Ruochen was now the closed-door disciple of Old Master Xu. Of course, she was considered someone of status. In fact, if one were to ignore her origins, Han Ruochen could now be considered someone who was worthy of Zhai Muchen. Shen Lingxue gritted her teeth; she originally wanted to use the status of being the closed-door disciple of Old Master Xue to cast another layer of gold on herself. She did not expect that a woman of no status would thwart her plans.

Shen Lingxue hated Han Ruochen for upsetting her plans and snatching away the opportunity that was supposedly hers. When she heard Han Ruochen use the status of being the closed-door disciple of Old Master Xu to refute her earlier words about status and ability, Shen Lingxue could no longer tolerate the anger that was burning inside of her. She raised her hand and forgot all about Han Ruochen being older than her and waved it at Han Ruochen with all her might.

”...” Han Ruochen was stunned. Her mother was unreasonable and liked to use physical violence on others. Never did she expect that she would one day meet someone similar to her. What was more, this woman was seemingly high and mighty as well as sophisticated.

Han Ruochen was not prepared for Shen Lingxue’s attack. Earlier, when she was speaking to Shen Lingxue, she was only using her own words against her. But Shen Lingxue was so bad-tempered that she actually raised her hand.

However, before Han Ruochen could deal with the woman, another hand, which was big and strong, blocked the slap from Han Ruochen. Most importantly, the person even slapped Shen Lingxue back so hard that it was as if she were slapping herself back.

Shen Lingxue’s strength was naturally not comparable to Zhai Muchen.

Zhai Muchen’s backhand slap was so strong that it not only pushed her hand away but also uprooted her from the ground. Shen Lingxue nearly fell after losing her footing.

”Zhai...Brother Zhai?” Shen Lingxue was both shocked and angry. On top of that, her hand was throbbing. The hand that was slapped by Zhai Muchen was becoming slowly, painfully numb.

Zhai Muchen, on the other hand, did not pay attention to her. His face was black as the bottom of a pot, and he was looking at Shen Lingxue with a hint of hostility. ”What are you doing? Just what were you thinking? What were you trying to do?”

”I was not trying to do anything.” Shen Lingxue panicked and could only make some silly excuse: ”I...I saw that there was a leaf stuck on her shoulder, so I was trying to pat it away. I was not trying to harm her, Brother Zhai.”

She regretted having made up such a lame excuse, especially when she saw the look of cold distrust in the eyes of Zhai Muchen. She wanted to bite her tongue off. ”Brother Zhai, I don’t wish to say this. After all, this old lady is really insensible. Nevertheless, I feel that it is better for you to know, lest your kindness end up being misunderstood and creates troubles for you. This old woman likes you!”
