Reborn In The 90's: Saving My Siblings With A Fishing System

”You should not waste your time doing such hopeless things. Since you are already so old, you should go back home and try to get married. Maybe if you put more effort into dressing up, someone will accept you as their wife.” Shen Lingxue kindly reminded Han Ruochen to go back home. In her eyes, what Han Ruochen was doing was nothing less than a waste of time and effort.

Han Ruochen stared at Shen Lingxue speechlessly. She never expected a woman only a few months younger than her to lecture her. However, before she could say anything, the sound of footsteps came from behind her; she turned around and looked at the person who was coming over—

”Brother Muchen—”

”Brother Muchen!” Shen Lingxue’s surprised voice drowned out Han Ruochen’s voice. She hurried over to Zhai Muchen with a smile on her lips and came to a stop in front of him. ”Brother Muchen, did you come over specially because you knew that I was coming over to the Xu residence?” Shen Lingxue blushed shyly. She never expected that she would end up running into Zhai Muchen at the Xu family residence.

Han Ruochen: ”...”

She turned to look away, not knowing what to do in this situation. She raised her head and stared at the ceiling above her. Wow, it was just as white as the floor.

Zhai Muchen was walking toward Han Ruochen when he was stopped in his tracks by Shen Lingxue. He dodged to one side and frowned hard. He asked, ”Who are you?”

”...” Shen Lingxue was all smiles, but when she heard what Zhai Muchen said, the smile on her lips disappeared. She could not hide her embarrassment.

Han Ruochen turned to look at the flowers that were blooming in the corner. She did not dare to look at what was happening in front of her. With the current situation, it would be quite difficult for her if she were caught eavesdropping.

”What are you looking at? Come here.” Zhai Muchen could not be bothered with Shen Lingxue, so what if she was upset? He turned his attention back to Han Ruochen, who was standing in one corner and looking at the chrysanthemums.

”Brother Muchen.” Han Ruochen had no other choice but to walk over in Zhai Muchen’s direction since he called her name.

”Brother Zhai, do you know her?” Shen Lingxue schooled her expression. ”This sister is really beautiful. She showed me the directions just now. Brother Muchen, how did you get to know such a pretty sister? You should introduce me to her as well.”

”This is Old Master Xu; you can call him Grandpa Xu.” Zhai Muchen did not look at Shen Lingxue. He had no intention of wasting his time with someone like Shen Lingxue since he knew that she was not the kind of person whom she pretended to be. He came to the Xu family house because he wanted Han Ruochen to meet with Grandpa Xu. As for everything else, he did not care about it.

”...”

Han Ruochen looked at the man in surprise. She did not understand why Zhai Muchen brought her here to see ’Grandpa Xu ’. But what surprised her even more was that the so-called Grandpa Xu whom he brought her to meet was actually the unreliable old man. The very same one who had gone against her.

Old Master Xu raised his head proudly when he saw how surprised Han Ruochen looked. It seemed like the girl was not lying when she said that she did not know him. Look at her; she looked quite shocked upon finding out about his identity. He lifted his chin and remarked, ”Young lady, you still have time. If you want to ask for a favour, then you can ask me for it.” He did not like to owe anyone any favours. As long as the woman did not make any unreasonable requests, he could always fulfil her wishes.

”Grandpa Xu.” Han Ruochen came to stand beside Zhai Muchen and addressed the man as Zhai Muchen had asked her. As for the favour that Old Master Xu mentioned, she did not hear what he was trying to tell her. After all, it was too windy. She then turned to look at Zhai Muchen and asked, ”Brother Muchen, tell me, why did you bring me here?”

Though the old master insisted that he owed her a favour and that she could make any request of me as long as it was reasonable —and the young miss looked like she was coming from the back door through connections- Han Ruochen did not want to get involved with the two of them. She understood a simple principle very well. One should only cut their coat according to the piece of cloth that they could afford. She wanted to go back home rather than stay among these people.

Han Ruochen blinked up at Zhai Muchen. Her long, curly and luscious eyelashes swept over her eyes as she blinked. Zhai Muchen looked at Han Ruochen and felt an indescribable itch in his heart. He raised his hand and pressed it on top of Han Ruochen’s head. ”Be good.”

Though he said only these two words, and even though he said them way too briskly, Shen Lingxue and Old Master Xu were able to sense the tenderness in his tone with ease.

Zhai Muchen had put too much strength into his hand, and Han Ruochen could not withstand the pressure from it. She almost stumbled back and glared at the man who was rubbing her head like she was some kind of little cat. She had to grab hold of his shirt to steady herself before saying, ”Brother Muchen, I am not a kitten or a puppy. Stop rubbing me so hard; I cannot stand straight.”

She had known Zhai Muchen for a long time, and she had never seen him rub a person’s head before. Nor had she seen him taking care of a cat or dog. Han Ruochen couldn’t help but wonder if this was a habit that he had developed just a few days ago.

”Oh...” Old Master Xu gave a slight cough. He wanted to remind Zhai Muchen that he was not alone with Han Ruochen and that Shen Lingxue was standing beside them. It was better not to publicly display his affection for Han Ruochen.
