Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder

Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Three-No Product

Shi Feng wandered around for a bit before stopping at the sight of Mecha engines. An entire wall in front of him was filled with the most crucial core components of a Mecha.

There were all sorts of types. After looking them over carefully, Shi Feng frowned. None of them were what he wanted.

’A Mecha engine that’s ninety percent new is a recent arrival. This engine is very powerful?’

’Putting this engine in a Mecha could unleash unexpected power, but it has a major flaw: it can only be used in beast-type Mechas. Heavy, speed, and light-type Mechas are completely incompatible.’

Furthermore, the Mecha Shi Feng had designed was completely incompatible with this engine.

He could only give up on this one. Besides, its price was high, and Shi Feng didn’t have the money to buy it anyway.

The rest were either unremarkable or outdated models.

Shi Feng pinched the bridge of his nose. ’Does this mean I have to build one myself?’

That would just add one more thing he needed to learn, creating even more work for him.

”Didn’t find a suitable one?” Lin Jingjing asked, standing beside him and looking at the engines on display.

Shi Feng shook his head. ”No, none of these engines are compatible with the Mecha I designed.”

”I’ll just have to build one myself,” Shi Feng said with a sigh. It was clear he really wanted to save time.

As the two were talking, the shopkeeper had walked over. Hearing their conversation, he asked, ”What type of engine are you looking for?”

The sudden voice startled Shi Feng, but after hearing the question, he activated his Star Ring and projected the Mecha design he had drawn for the shopkeeper to see.

”I’m looking for an engine that’s simultaneously compatible with speed, heavy, beast, and light-type Mechas.”

The shopkeeper looked at his design, then heard his request, and gave him a strange look.

”All of them combined?”

”I’m just combining some of the design elements I like from each of them,” Shi Feng explained. ”For example, the speed of a speed-type, the ammo capacity of a heavy-type, the agility of a light-type, and the ferocity of a beast-type.”

”Not bad, that’s a good idea,” the shopkeeper couldn’t help but praise. But then his tone shifted. ”So what’s your own unique feature?”

”Maxed-out defense, maxed-out attack, and it won’t be slow either.”

Hearing this, the shopkeeper chuckled. ”That’s not a very distinct feature.”

”You need to make something that makes everyone’s eyes light up, something they can recognize as your unique style,” the shopkeeper suggested.

Shi Feng knew that, but he just wanted to perfect the aspects he had just mentioned.

”So, sir, do you have the engine he needs?” Lin Jingjing asked from the side.

The shopkeeper thought for a moment. He remembered buying one from a scrap collector a while back. The engine was a wreck and didn’t even have a serial number.

At the time, he had felt sorry for the old man, who didn’t even have enough Star Coins for a meal, so he’d bought it on a soft-hearted impulse.

Who would have thought that two years after he bought it, it still hadn’t sold.

”I might have something, but it has no serial number. It’s a no-name product,” the shopkeeper said.

’A no-name product is fine,’ Shi Feng thought. ’As long as it works.’

”Okay, I’ll take a look,” Shi Feng nodded.

The shopkeeper went into the storeroom and pulled the unnumbered engine out from a corner. It was covered in dust, clearly having been tossed there and neglected for a long time.

Shi Feng examined it carefully and found that it was quite similar to the engine he wanted. Feeling a stir of interest, he asked, ”How much for this thing?”

”It’s been sitting here for two years. I’ll sell it to you for 1,000 Star Coins.”

1,000 Star Coins. That was much lower than he had expected. Shi Feng said, ”Alright, I’ll take it!”

After he paid, Lin Jingjing, who was standing beside him, stored the engine in her Space Ring.

After they left, Feng He rubbed his stomach and asked, ”Shi Feng, are you done looking?”

”I’m done,” Shi Feng replied. ”Then let’s go find a restaurant. I’m starving,” Feng He said hurriedly.

”Alright,” Shi Feng nodded.

The area was full of shops selling second-hand parts, and it took them a long time to find a restaurant nearby.

The place was packed with people; there wasn’t a single empty seat.

’So many people. This place must be really good.’

After ordering their food, the group waited outside for a table to free up.

The food smelled amazing, and for people like them who enjoyed strong flavors, every bite was pure bliss.

’No wonder it’s so crowded. It’s delicious.’

After eating, they started wandering around the area.

There was a Mecha store nearby that offered a test experience. The five of them hesitated for a moment before going in to try it out.

A salesperson stood by, giving them the sales pitch with a cheerful smile on her face.

Shi Feng went first. After his turn, he got out and sat on a nearby chair, lost in thought.

’This Mecha is the latest model. It’s exceptional in every aspect.’

’I should learn from its features to design an even better Mecha.’

After trying it, they were all very tempted. But one look at the price—ten million Star Coins—and the hands stroking the Mecha’s arm immediately retracted.

’It’s... pretty expensive.’

’Looks like only rich people can afford this kind of Mecha.’

’Poor slobs like us can only design our own.’

Since they had spent quite a while on the experience, they felt a bit embarrassed and each bought a relatively cheap Mecha model before leaving.

Another employee watched the five of them leave and said dismissively, ”Why would you even bother trying to please poor slobs like them?”

But the salesperson just smiled without a word. ’Isn’t this just part of the job?’

’When someone comes in, I explain the products and recommend a suitable Mecha based on their spiritual power. If they’re willing to buy, I make money. If they don’t, it’s no loss to me.’

”As expected of a major brand, even this Mecha model is so detailed,” Gu Kaiwen said, looking at the blue model in his hand. He fiddled with it for a bit and found it quite fun.

”Mechas are so expensive. It’s a good thing Shi Feng knows how to build them,” Feng He remarked with a sigh. ’Ten million Star Coins... How long would it take for us to earn that much?’

”Yeah, this way we can save a lot of money,” Lin Jingjing agreed.

They bought some snacks and sat down on the roadside to eat. The weather wasn’t very cold, but those more sensitive to the cold were already wearing long sleeves.

”Mommy, all my classmates have Mecha models. I want one too,” a little girl’s innocent voice rang out. She looked up at the woman holding her hand, her eyes filled with caution.

But even with her cautiousness, the woman’s face fell the moment she heard the request.

”Can’t you be a little more considerate? Your sister is sick and needs a lot of Star Coins for treatment. How dare you ask for something like this!”

”Just because they have one doesn’t mean you need one. Why are you always trying to keep up with them?”

Hearing these words, the little girl’s head drooped.

”But... everyone else has one, I’m the only one who doesn’t... I can’t talk about the same things as them, and no one plays with me,” the little girl said in a small voice, her eyes filled with sadness.
