Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 1544: Chapter 1559: Going Home

”Go home.” An Ran blurted it out without hesitation. Mu Xingfeng hadn’t returned to the Imperial City yet, so of course she was going home.

”Going home again?” Zheng Kai muttered under his breath. Then he thought, going home is fine—he wasn’t planning to go to evening self-study anyway. He could walk her home, and if possible, take her out for dinner and a movie.

Thinking of this, Zheng Kai opened his mouth, just about to say he’d take her home tonight, when he heard Lu Yi’s voice from behind them.

”Morning. Why are you two standing here?”

An Ran didn’t notice at all that Zheng Kai’s face had gone the color of pig liver the moment he heard Lu Yi’s voice. She lifted her little paw and waved at him. ”Morning, Lu Yi. I just ran into Zheng Kai. Class is about to start, let’s hurry up and go.”

With that, she turned and headed into the teaching building first. Lu Yi was still smiling gently; he nodded at Zheng Kai and followed her in, leaving Zheng Kai grinding his teeth in frustration.

Xiao Xiao was already in the classroom. The moment she saw Xiao Xiao, An Ran remembered what Mu Xingfeng had said last night and couldn’t help feeling happy for her from the bottom of her heart. It’s just that neither she nor Mu Xingfeng was sure what exactly Lin Junyang was thinking. All they could do was hope the two of them would blossom and bear fruit soon.

”An Ran, what’s with you, laughing like such a horny slut first thing in the morning?” Seeing An Ran’s smile, Xiao Xiao folded her arms across her chest in a defensive pose, then scooted up to her. ”You and Instructor Mu went at it all night and all day, all day and all night again, huh?”

”Xiao Xiao, you...”

An Ran flew into a mortified rage and smacked Xiao Xiao with a slap.

Just for that mouth of hers that never shuts—knowing perfectly well that Brother Junyang has her on his mind, and she still won’t tell her. Hmph!

With that anticipation in her heart, the whole day sped by. As soon as the dismissal bell rang, An Ran was once again the first one to bolt out of the classroom.

Zheng Kai had already made preparations; once An Ran left the classroom, he slipped out the back door and followed close behind.

”An Ran.” Zheng Kai hurried to catch up, but he didn’t try to stop her, just matched his pace to hers as they walked out.

An Ran didn’t think much of it. Seeing that he was also carrying his backpack, she asked, ”You’re skipping evening self-study? That’s rare.”

”Thought I’d give myself a day off. Oh right, An Ran, are you free tonight? Want to grab dinner together?” After thinking it over, he still chose to voice his intention in a roundabout way.

An Ran rejected him without even thinking. ”Sorry, Zheng Kai, I really don’t have time tonight. I have to go home.”

Zheng Kai’s heart lurched. He’d always known An Ran had a place in Nan’an—being a shareholder of Wenshan Group, having an apartment was nothing unusual. But he’d never heard of her having any family there. Xiao Xiao had even said more than once that An Ran was an orphan and had already cut ties with her adoptive parents.

Rushing home like this, there had to be someone waiting there. Who could it be?

Once again, Zheng Kai thought of that tall boy who’d come to school looking for An Ran a few days ago.

Why would someone cut ties with their adoptive parents for no reason? Could it be because of him? That way they could be together openly and legitimately, couldn’t they?

Thinking of this possibility, Zheng Kai felt utterly awful.

”Alright then. I heard you live in Longteng Xinyuan, right?” Since he was already out here, Zheng Kai didn’t want to come away empty-handed. One way or another, he had to figure out who this man was that kept An Ran running home every day.

”Yeah.” An Ran didn’t hide it. In her eyes, Zheng Kai was just like Lu Yi—they were both her closest friends.

Besides, the fact that she had a place in Longteng Xinyuan wasn’t some shameful secret. Now that Mu Xingfeng wasn’t in Nan’an, that home was just a place for her to crash.
