Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 1043: Chapter 1056: Good-Tempered and Patient

Jia Chenggang checked into the guesthouse with Wang Xia and Rong.

Wang Xia followed behind Jia Chenggang, silent all the way, with Mu Xingfeng’s words echoing in her ear: She’s my pride. Don’t let me hear any words against my wife again, or I, Mu Xingfeng, will be the first not to agree.

She didn’t understand, a university student who was still in school, a little girl who hadn’t yet stepped into society, and could even be somewhat arrogant and unreasonable, what made her worthy of such pride from a man like Mu Xingfeng? Was it just because she was pretty?

But in her heart, Mu Xingfeng had never been such a shallow person.

As they entered the room, Jia Chenggang placed the mother and child’s luggage on the ground and looked at Wang Xia’s sullen face; he was quite upset too.

He had long heard that Captain Mu got married, and had also heard that Captain Mu dotes on his young wife, who is six years younger than him, but he had never seen her before.

Unexpectedly, the first meeting was on such an occasion.

Although he didn’t think that, given Captain Mu’s circumstances, finding a girl six years younger was inappropriate, yet seeing An Ran’s behavior made him very disappointed.

It wasn’t just An Ran that disappointed him, but Mu Xingfeng as well.

He and Mu Xingfeng had been comrades for seven or eight years and executed tasks with Haigang together; they were brothers who could rely on each other. He never thought he would allow his wife to insult the widow and orphan of a fallen comrade this way.

Just because of An Ran’s remark about not having a man, Jia Chenggang was itching to confront her directly.

With such an upbringing, how could she be fit to be among the families of men like them?

He couldn’t understand how Mu Xingfeng could stand having such a person by his side.

”Xia, Xingfeng’s wife is young, don’t take her words to heart,” Jia Chenggang wasn’t a man of smooth words and didn’t know how to comfort women. Seeing Wang Xia with a gloomy face, he thought for a long time and awkwardly uttered this sentence.

Wang Xia nodded slightly, ”I won’t, after all, she’s Xingfeng’s wife. I won’t hold it against her, but some of her words reminded me of...”

Wang Xia didn’t continue, her eyes just turned red.

Pressing her hands against her front, she took a deep breath before continuing, ”Xingfeng and you are outstanding team members, but as women, even if we can’t help the men at work, at the very least we shouldn’t be a burden to them. This is especially important for families, but I see Xingfeng’s wife... well, maybe she’s just young now, in a couple of years she’ll get better.”

As Wang Xia spoke, she sighed and gently patted Hairong’s little head, ”Rong, remember, your dad is a hero. No matter when or where, he’s our hero in our hearts.”

Hairong nodded obediently, ”Mom, I know, my dad is a hero.”

Jia Haigang looked at Wang Xia and her child, thinking how gentle and understanding this woman was. No family member in the courtyard had Wang Xia’s grace.

Her husband sacrificed himself, living alone with a child was already hard enough, and now facing others’ exclusion, she not only faces it calmly but also considers the other side.

He knew Wang Xia didn’t mind An Ran, not because An Ran was young, but more because of the camaraderie between Mu Xingfeng and Haigang.

Haigang was fortunate to have such a woman, yet unfortunate, having only been married to Wang Xia for one year before he sacrificed himself.

Thinking of the fallen comrades and seeing the mother and child in front of him, Jia Chenggang felt even more that this mother and child deserve better treatment, not discrimination from others.

The weather in Nan’an in August is stuffy and changeable, with the sun shining high at noon and clouds gathering in the afternoon.

Thunder rolled from distant to near intermittently.

Mu Xingfeng glanced at the little one who was still asleep on the bed, his gaze gentle.
