Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend

Chapter 1443: Chapter 503: Marquis Zhongyuan Again

The news of the Demon Ancestor’s resurrection made the quarrelsome mother and son temporarily set aside the topic of ”forced marriage.”

”The news was told to me by Yan Jiu, so it must be true.”

Chi Ye recounted in detail his encounter with Moonflower and Yan Jiu being suppressed near the entrance of the Demon World.

After listening to Chi Ye’s account, Empress Dowager Chi pondered.

”So it seems that the fall of the Demon Ancestor back then is likely related to that couple from South Nether City.”

Speaking of that couple from South Nether City, Empress Dowager Chi never thought much of them.

Not to mention, South Nether Empress Xiyan is a seductive woman who, since childhood, caused numerous young men of the Demon Clan to fight over her. As for South Nether Emperor Zhanhen, he wasn’t any better.

Back when the territories of South Nether and Beiyu were divided, that couple played many tricks behind the scenes.

If it weren’t for the concerted efforts of Empress Dowager Chi and Chi Ye, there might not be a Beiyu Palace today.

In contrast, Empress Dowager Chi actually appreciated the Demon Ancestor and Yan Jiu’s group more.

The Demon Ancestor was once a sworn enemy of Chi Ye, and the past grievances between them were well-known to Empress Dowager Chi.

When the Demon Ancestor was alive, the major demon clans were so oppressed they could hardly move, even she had to be wary of him.

But at least the Demon Ancestor had real abilities and engaged in fair confrontation, and her son considered him the only rival who could be his equal.

Empress Dowager Chi still remembers the news of the Demon Ancestor’s fall; her son Chi Ye stood dazed, visibly lost and forlorn.

For years, Chi Ye and Zhanhen have jointly ruled the Demon World, and though her son has governed smoothly as the Demon Emperor, he has always seemed lazy and lacking in motivation.

But this time upon returning, her son appeared spirited, as if transformed back into the young and eager youth he once was.

Seeing her son like this, Empress Dowager Chi didn’t know whether to be happy or worried.

Happy because her son finally found a worthy opponent and seemed revitalized.

Worried because if the Demon Ancestor reappears, the centuries-old balance of power in the Demon World would surely be disrupted.

”What do you plan to do about this matter?” Empress Dowager Chi asked casually.

”Watch the tigers fight from a distance. It’s best if the South Nether Emperor and Empress fight the Demon Ancestor to the death; we at Beiyu Palace will not take sides.”

Chi Ye stood with his hands behind his back, looking calm and composed.

How could Yan Jiu, that fox, be so kind as to warn him?

He merely wants to provoke conflict between the two empires, but Chi Ye is no longer the naive youth of the past, easily deceived by the Demon Clan and Yan Jiu’s people.

He has some grudges with the Demon Ancestor, but compared to the South Nether Emperor and Empress’s issues with him, those are trivial matters.

When two tigers fight, one will surely get hurt, and Chi Ye is happy to reap the benefits.

”At last, you haven’t let my years of teachings go to waste. However, before these two tigers even fight, the Demon World may already plunge into chaos. Look at this letter.”

Empress Dowager Chi said, handing over a letter she took from her sleeve.

The letter bore the stamp of South Nether City.

”Jiu Provinces Hunting, tens of thousands of Human Clan Demon Hunters entering the Central Plains?” Chi Ye’s expression, which had been carefree, changed to one of coldness and danger upon reading the secret letter.

”Tch, those Human Clan scum have truly forgotten their past wounds, daring to challenge the authority of our Demon Clan.”

Chi Ye’s palm quivered, turning the letter into fragments that drifted down like snowflakes.

His fiery red hair flared angrily, resembling a flame.

The Central Plains is a strategic choke point to the entrance of the Demon World.

If occupied by the Human Clan, it would certainly affect the safety of the Demon World.

The Northern and Southern Demon Emperors have always ruled separately but only cooperated and didn’t conflict over the governance of the Central Plains.

”This matter may not be as simple as you and I think. The Human Clan has always been greedy and cowardly, with designs on the Central Plains but never the courage. Over the years they’ve only dared minor skirmishes on its outskirts, relying on the lingering prestige of Marquis Zhongyuan. Gathering forces for a grand Jiu Provinces Hunting involving tens of thousands must have some hidden agenda.”

Empress Dowager Chi, shrewd and cautious, doubted the true cause of this Jiu Provinces Hunting.

The main reason for this Jiu Provinces Hunting was because the South Nether Emperor and Empress attempted to dispatch the Demon Clan to seize nine new cities, leading to the death and injury of two City Lords.

This event angered the upper echelons of the Jiu Provinces Alliance.

Combined with the occurrence of the Taixu Tomb Realm, the Jin Family and other hidden families of power secretly stirred up trouble, further expanding the scope of Jiu Provinces Hunting.

The Central Plains was simply made a scapegoat in these events.

”Mother, aren’t you being too cautious? In my view, the Central Plains and even the Ancient Nine Provinces should be territory of our Demon Clan. Yet you and the elders oppose me attacking the Ancient Nine Provinces, allowing the Human Clan there to become increasingly brazen.”

Mentioning Demon Hunters filled Chi Ye with bitter resentment.

After millennia of accumulation and evolution, there’s little difference between the Demon Clan and Human Clan.

Yet in the Central Plains, the Human Clan slaughters demons like livestock, stealing Demonic Cores and souls to refine Elixirs and Spiritual Artifacts. As the Demon Emperor, Chi Ye’s anger has been simmering for years.

In Chi Ye’s eyes, the Demon World should expand its territory and retaliate, enslaving the Human Clan like cattle.

”What do you know, child? You’ve never seen the effects of the Heavenly Fire. That Marquis Zhongyuan, with divine power surpassing even the Heavenly Gods, burned countless demons with a wave of his hand.”

Empress Dowager Chi lamented.

Prior to the founding of Beiyu Palace, the Chi Clan’s first warrior, Chi Ye’s father and she, witnessed firsthand the demon decimation centuries ago, with demons burning in agony.

The Central Plains was filled with cries of despair. The cold, handsome man hovered above, raining down Heavenly Fire like meteors.

The black fire, exuding the breath of death, even made Empress Dowager Chi’s soul quiver in fear.

Chi Ye sneered disdainfully at the terror on Empress Dowager Chi’s face.

He had been told of the terrifying reputation of Marquis Zhongyuan since childhood.

But those were tales—Chi Ye only knew the cowardly Human Clan.

”So according to your viewpoint, should Beiyu Palace stand by during this Jiu Provinces Hunting?”

Chi Ye was somewhat displeased.

”I originally planned to, but, in a few months, your uncle, one of the Six Great Demon Kings, King Tongtian, is having a birthday celebration. I’ll send you to attend, and you can assess the situation in the Central Plains before making any decisions.”
