Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend

Chapter 1154: Chapter 214: Yet Another Patient

At this moment, Ye Lingyue had yet to notice Si Xiaochun’s oddity. She was focused on the situation in the arena.

Ye Lingyue had a good impression of the crew-cut contestant. If it weren’t for his intervention, the casualties in today’s first-round match would have been even worse.

His reaction in a critical moment was truly impressive.

However, Ye Lingyue couldn’t help considering another issue. Despite her admiration, she felt troubled at the thought of possibly encountering him in future matches.

”Ling, there’s something off about that person,” Si Xiaochun suddenly remarked beside her.

”What, do you know him?”

Ye Lingyue glanced at Si Xiaochun.

”If I am not mistaken, that person is Yuan Xing. He was the only newcomer to survive when the Old City Lord completed his final novice task,” Si Xiaochun’s words surprised Ye Lingyue.

Was that man the person the Huangquan City Lord has been searching for this whole time?

Ever since Ye Lingyue learned from Yun Sheng that treating war syndrome required special methods, she had tried various approaches.

But for the Old City Lord, those methods had limited efficacy and couldn’t lead to a full recovery.

Now, the only solution was to find someone who had gone through the rookie project back then.

Yuan Xing was the only survivor, and after completing the newcomer assessment, he gave up on becoming a Demon Hunter.

No one knew where he went or what he did afterwards.

The city lord had turned Huangquan City upside down but still couldn’t find Yuan Xing.

Unexpectedly, he was in the Underground Arena Competition, and judging by the situation, he seemed to be a seasoned participant who might have relied on fighting in the underground arena for a living all these years.

”Are you sure it’s him?”

If Si Xiaochun was correct, contacting Yuan Xing could potentially cure the Old City Lord’s illness this time.

”I shouldn’t be mistaken. When Yuan Xing and the Old City Lord were severely injured and returned to the City Lord’s Mansion, I was very young, but Yuan Xing had a scar on his right cheek, that X-shaped scar looks exactly the same now.”

Si Xiaochun was equally surprised to find Yuan Xing here.

”Once Yuan Xing returns, I’ll go have a talk with him.”

As expected, Yuan Xing’s group emerged victorious.

According to the rules, winning contestants also needed to wait in the waiting area for other participants to finish their matches before they could leave the arena.

Apart from the group whose opponent was unexpectedly killed by the Witch Eagle earlier, the other four winning groups gradually came in.

Yuan Xing and his teammate, a Female Alchemist, also entered.

Yuan Xing’s outstanding performance earlier had garnered considerable attention.

”Yuan Xing, not bad at all, huh? Seems like you’re the only one with a chance to break the dominance of the Female and Male Killers.”

Several people who knew Yuan Xing came forward to greet him.

Si Xiaochun wanted to squeeze through to him.

”Wait, there’s something off about him.”

Ye Lingyue shook her head.

Facing the congratulations, Yuan Xing seemed not to hear them, simply walking past.

Even his female companion beside him was completely ignored after he stepped off the platform, as if she were a stranger.

After avoiding the crowd, Yuan Xing entered a compartment, sat down to meditate, and ignored everyone else.

”Arrogant, isn’t he? That guy isn’t even our match.”

The Female and Male Killers listened nearby, filled with animosity towards Yuan Xing.

Having waited for so long, Si Xiaochun couldn’t hold back and approached.

”Yuan Xing. Do you remember me? We’ve met before,” Si Xiaochun asked.

To his surprise, Yuan Xing glanced at him with cold eyes.

”Don’t you remember? I’m the kid from the City Lord’s Mansion,” Si Xiaochun had forgotten that he was currently dressed as a girl.

Upon hearing the words ”City Lord’s Mansion,” Yuan Xing suddenly raised his head.

Just as Si Xiaochun thought the other recognized him,

”Watch out.”

Ye Lingyue rushed in front of Si Xiaochun.

Clang!

A Wind Blade struck, leaving a deep mark on Ye Lingyue’s armor.

Yuan Xing unexpectedly attacked without saying a word.

If not for Ye Lingyue’s quick reaction, Si Xiaochun would have been injured.

”What’s with you? If you don’t remember, just leave it, why resort to violence,” Si Xiaochun murmured under his breath.

But upon seeing Yuan Xing’s eyes, Si Xiaochun was taken aback.

Yuan Xing’s gaze was terrifying, those eyes didn’t seem human at all.

”Let’s go,” Ye Lingyue forcefully pulled Si Xiaochun away, distancing them from Yuan Xing.

Others witnessing the scene looked on with gloating indifference.

In the arena, everyone was a competitor, hoping for accidents to happen to each other.

”Clueless fools, Yuan Xing is insane. It’s your good luck that he didn’t kill you. Some people just have no sense; who knows if they can even survive the first round,” the Female and Male Killers mocked.

Like Yuan Xing, they lived off the arena for years.

The Female and Male Killers were known for their ruthlessness, always victorious in the Underground Arena Competition.

Yet they were cautious of Yuan Xing because he was a madman, turning into a human weapon when he lost control.

Ye Lingyue and Si Xiaochun ignored them.

”How can this be? Yuan Xing seems like a completely different person. He was so passionate before. Now he doesn’t even remember the City Lord’s Mansion, let alone cooperate in the Old City Lord’s treatment.” Si Xiaochun was dejected, having finally found Yuan Xing only to end up with such an outcome felt unacceptable.

”It’s not surprising. I suspect that Yuan Xing, like the Old City Lord, is ill.

Ye Lingyue had heard from Yun Sheng before that war syndrome wasn’t an accidental condition. If someone as experienced as the Old City Lord could suffer from it, it was no surprise Yuan Xing did too.

Ye Lingyue had worried about this possibility earlier, and now it seemed her suspicions were confirmed.

This piqued Ye Lingyue’s curiosity even more about what the Old City Lord had encountered back then to bring both of them to this state.

How did the other novices die?

He clearly remembered that Yuan Xing was a very enthusiastic person.

At that moment, an unpleasant voice suddenly came.

”That bastard actually dared to touch me!”

Not far from Ye Lingyue and Si Xiaochun.

A young woman was furious, glaring at a male martial artist beside her.

”Zi Yan, what’s happening?”

”Mu, this pervert, he was trying to slyly touch my waist just now.”

The ones speaking were Yue Mubai and Fire Spirit Ziyan, who had disguised themselves to participate in the Underground Arena Competition.

Coincidentally, Ye Lingyue was wearing Gua Niu’s armor, so neither side recognized each other.
