Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend

Chapter 1104: Chapter 164: Special Plants

Ye Lingyue turned around, and when she saw the scene in front of her, her whole body stiffened. The stone disk she was holding fell to the ground with a loud ”clang” sound.

This is called a garden?

Ye Lingyue looked ahead. The plants in the garden were ”lush,” obscuring the roads and houses, and even the sky was blocked.

She finally understood why the tea house owner looked at her as if she were a fool.

Without mentioning anything else, just clearing this garden that hasn’t been trimmed for who knows how many years would definitely keep her busy this month.

”The yard is yours now; as long as you can clear these plants, you can use any tools you want.”

Xiao Chun finished speaking, fearing Ye Lingyue might regret not taking the job, and disappeared like a startled rabbit.

”Hey, I haven’t even mentioned the payment.”

Actually, Si Xiaochun didn’t have to run so fast. She currently had no way to pay the breach penalty of two Intermediate Spirit Stones, so she would still take the job.

Ye Lingyue resignedly stepped into the yard.

She didn’t start right away; instead, she used her spiritual power to roughly scan the entire courtyard. There were indeed many flowers, trees, and shrubs in the courtyard, along with a sizeable artificial hill, but it had long been submerged due to years of neglect.

It seemed that the Old City Lord of Huangquan City appreciated elegance, opening tea houses and cultivating flowers. His garden had fallen into ruin for unknown reasons after his passing.

Moreover, the climate in Huangquan City was rather peculiar, with little sunlight and pervasive evil mist. Most flowers, plants, and trees had already wilted.

Thus, although there seemed to be many plants in the yard, it was mainly dominated by a type of cannabis-like plant that grew to sword-like shapes.

This type of cannabis plant was very tall, as tall as Ye Lingyue herself, and two palms wide. On the leaves grew faint golden patterns.

They looked like martial artists holding long spears, occupying the entire courtyard.

Ye Lingyue found a machete on the garden’s outskirts and swung it forcefully. Beneath the blade, a crescent-shaped Primordial Blade issued a ”puff” sound as it struck the hemp plant.

She thought the hemp would split instantly, but unexpectedly, when touched by the Primordial Power on the broad leaf surface, it erupted with a shower of sparks.

The hemp emitted a humming sound that was piercing, but the real trouble came afterward. The cut Ye Lingyue had made rebounded back at her.

Ye Lingyue quickly blocked the returning Primordial Blade with the machete.

The machete, however, shattered, breaking into two pieces.

”What kind of ghost thing is this?”

Ye Lingyue looked at the intact hemp in surprise, then back at the broken machete in her hand.

The exposed iron in the machete’s gap showed that it wasn’t ordinary iron, but Meteorite Iron.

Even though the City Lord’s Mansion was dilapidated, its architecture and tools were apparently chosen with care by the last Old City Lord. Even the garden tools were of high quality.

This machete, if sold on the market, would be considered an Earth Rank Spiritual Artifact.

Ye Lingyue clicked her tongue, taking quite a while to come back to her senses.

It seemed she had underestimated the gardener’s job.

”Master, this hemp plant seems to be Heavenly Sword Hemp. Using brute force to cut won’t work.”

Seeing Ye Lingyue defeated, Little Evil Rabbit hopped over.

”Do you know the origin of this hemp plant? Tell me about it.”

Faced with the Heavenly Sword Hemp numbering at least tens of thousands in the yard, Ye Lingyue had a headache.

”Heavenly Sword Hemp is a kind of Demon Grass. Legend has it that it originated due to a lack of mineral resources in the Demon World, cultivated by a Sky Demon and refined into a Demon Sword, enough to rival Heavenly-grade Spiritual Artifacts, hence the name. The growth of this Heavenly Sword Hemp is vigorous, able to form Heavenly Sword shapes within a year in areas rich with Evil Qi. Even using Heavenly-grade Spiritual Artifacts, it’s hard to cut it.”

Little Evil Rabbit had seen this Heavenly Sword Hemp during its escape in the Demon World.

”Is there any way to completely remove this stuff? Otherwise, I might not finish the job within a month.”

Ye Lingyue wore a bitter expression.

”I don’t know either,” the Little Evil Rabbit replied regretfully, hearing about the plant but unfamiliar with its eradication method.

”Oh well, I’ll think of some way. There has to be a way.”

Ye Lingyue glanced at the densely packed yard, then decided not to get stuck and returned to the servant quarters Xiao Chun had arranged for her.

Near dusk, the Huangquan City Lord returned to the City Lord’s Mansion.

Si Xiaochun had prepared a hot meal.

Since the unexpected disappearance of the previous Old City Lord, Si Xiaochun had been attending to the female city lord’s daily needs and accommodations.

Huangquan City Lord looked at the food, two vegetarian and one meat, prepared very elegantly.

She sighed.

”Xiao Chun, you’ve had a hard time these years. Actually, with your skills, you should have become a formal Demon Hunter long ago, instead of being stuck in the City Lord’s Mansion. Although you were raised by the mansion, you’ve repaid your debt to the mansion years ago.”

”City Lord, my life was saved by you and the Old City Lord. If it weren’t for you and the Old City Lord adopting me as an abandoned baby back then, Si Xiaochun wouldn’t exist in this world.” Si Xiaochun respectfully placed the food.

”Sit down and eat with me. The mansion’s provisions are lacking, and you’ve been eating leftovers behind my back, thinking I don’t know.”

The female city lord divided half of her meal with Si Xiaochun.

The young man paused, wiping his somewhat aching eyes, and silently joined the master to eat.

”By the way, City Lord, someone came to apply as a gardener today. Judging by her demeanor, she seems capable of staying. The Old City Lord’s garden will finally be cleared.”

Si Xiaochun spoke enthusiastically.

Earlier, when Ye Lingyue had tried to cut Heavenly Sword Hemp, Si Xiaochun had secretly observed.

Seeing that although Ye Lingyue was frustrated, she didn’t immediately leave, made him quite happy.

Someone to clean the garden?

Huangquan City Lord’s chopsticks noticeably trembled.

”Just know, the City Lord’s Mansion currently doesn’t have extra money to hire anyone.”

”It only costs one Intermediate Spirit Stone. I’ve calculated that we can afford this expense.”

Since his master City Lord couldn’t manage accounts, Si Xiaochun, even at a young age, became adept at budgeting.

So, despite no income, the City Lord’s Mansion sustained itself for several years.

”You secretly helped at the city’s blacksmith shop again? How many times have I said, I taught you martial arts, not to have you do blacksmith work. You’re not an Alchemist.”

The female city lord suddenly vented her anger.

Si Xiaochun paused, falling silent.

”Never mind, that person won’t last long anyway. Don’t bring anyone else for such futile tasks.”

The female city lord didn’t want to say more, nor did she ask who came to apply.

Either way, that person couldn’t possibly endure for long.

Without using that method, it would be impossible to clear Heavenly Sword Hemp, even in a year, let alone a month.
