Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend

Chapter 783: Chapter 650: Blinding the Onlookers

The crevice was originally only as thick as half a finger, but as the ground shaking intensified, the crevice widened. Nearby stones and plants were all swept into the fissure with the sand and were quickly swallowed up.

”Everyone be careful of the sand beneath your feet, take flight.” Mu Ying called out urgently.

The spiritual artifact that Mu Wu conjured was shaped like a golden hook; he grabbed his attendant and soared into the air, reacting with remarkable agility.

What Mu Ying used, however, was a scepter, while Mu Shuang wielded a silver-glowing wind wheel.

It was only when the four of them flew up into the mid-air that they remembered Ye Lingyue and the others.

Mu Wu was concerned about Ye Lingyue, while Mu Shuang was worried about Feng Xun.

Looking down from the air, they did not see anyone and became anxious, thinking that Ye Lingyue and the rest had unfortunately perished.

At that moment, they heard a call from above their heads.

”Senior Mu, are you all alright? If you don’t mind, please come up. The Phoenix Feather is spacious enough for eight people.”

Looking up, they saw a brightly-colored Phoenix Feather flying in the sky; when the Phoenix Feather spread out, it was like a large mat, indeed more than enough to accommodate eight people. Compared to the usual flying spiritual artifacts that were like walking on a narrow bridge, the Phoenix Feather was undoubtedly much more advanced.

Long Baobao and Little Wuya had no sense of danger whatsoever. At that moment, they were looking down from a high position, gesturing towards the desert where the abnormality occurred.

The Mu Family’s four people felt embarrassed, and were also filled with envy for the flying spiritual artifact that Ye Lingyue possessed.

Mu Ying didn’t refuse; the flying artifact that Ye Lingyue used was clearly a Phoenix Tail Feather, and did not require too much spiritual power to control.

Before entering Sifang City, they did not know what awaited them ahead. It was better to conserve as much Qi as possible.

The three from the Mu Family boarded the Phoenix Feather. In the fleeting moments they were airborne, the crevice that had suddenly appeared rapidly spread, stretching from the edge of the vast desert deep into the desert’s heart, unknown where it led, and becoming a Rift Valley Sand River hundreds of feet wide.

The most terrifying part was not the crevice itself, but the sand that flowed into the crevice. Piled together and rolling like water, it actually formed a river without a single drop of water, but with tumultuous sand waves—the Rift Valley Sand River.

The Four Directions Ferry was not crossing an ordinary river, but this ingeniously created ground sand river.

The wonder of the sand river didn’t stop there.

As the Phoenix Feather flew forward, the sand river left behind would quickly disappear, only to reappear once the next batch of contenders heading to Sifang City showed up.

The end of this Rift Valley Sand River is Sifang City.

If someone unaware came here, they might not find Sifang City before being buried by the quicksand at the bottom of the river forever.

”The first time I saw this sand river, I reacted pretty much the same as you all.” Mu Ying apparently already understood all of this, and smiled as she watched the younger generation gaping.

”How on earth was this done? Could the Sifang City Lord really be an immortal with divine powers?” Mu Wu was astounded.

”It’s likely that the Sifang City Lord is not just an Artifact Refiner, but also a high-level Array Master. This desert may seem ordinary, but it actually incorporates an ever-lasting Earth Formation and a Wind Formation. The two arrays are merged together. The stele we saw earlier must be the Array Eye that triggers the formation,” Feng Xun explained.

”Family Head Feng has good insight, indeed that’s the case,” Mu Ying nodded in approval, then glanced at Mu Wu who appeared embarrassed and sighed inwardly. Though of the same generation, Feng Xun’s perception far exceeded that of her nephew and niece.

After the Phoenix Feather flew for a while, a ferry finally appeared ahead.

”There are prohibitions set up ahead, and the Phoenix Feather cannot proceed further. It seems we must force our way across the river,” Ye Lingyue frowned.

Unexpectedly, just trying to enter Sifang City is this difficult.

The eight of them had no choice but to disembark from the Phoenix Feather, landing at the ferry.

It was an exceedingly ordinary-looking ferry, where four single-log canoes were tied up.

The shape of the canoes, both narrow and long, was like newly sprouted willow leaves, bearing an attractive name—the Four-direction Boat.

They were narrow at the top and wide at the bottom, very suitable for gliding across the sand.

At most, only two people could travel in them at a time.

On the first single-log canoe, there was a letter.

”It seems the rumors are true.” Mu Ying stepped forward, looked over the letter, and showed a contemplative expression. ”This year’s World’s First Refining is different from previous ones, the Sifang City Lord likely intends to use this final selection to choose someone to inherit his mantle through the competition.”

After Mu Ying spoke, the Mu siblings remained composed.

”Senior Mu Ying, where do these words come from?” Seeing the reactions of the others, Ye Lingyue guessed that the people from the Mu Family were probably already aware of this news.

”Just look at the letter and you’ll understand. The moment we stepped onto this Four Directions Ferry, the final selection had already begun.”

With that, Mu Ying handed the letter to Ye Lingyue.

The letter was personally written by the Sifang City Lord, and its content was roughly divided into four points.

First, this final selection is different from any previous year. The aspirants holding a Four Directions Token must each control a single-log canoe, and no more than two people are allowed per canoe.

Second, within this Rift Valley Sand River, numerous sand river fierce beasts lurk in different sections of the river. According to their Grades, they can be divided into low, medium, and high. To enter Sifang City, the aspirants must kill these fierce beasts, and only the top fifty contestants who kill the most will qualify to enter the city.

Third, after an aspirant kills a fierce beast, the points will be accumulated through the Four Directions Token. The points on the Four Directions Token are recorded anonymously; Sifang City will issue a Sifang Ranking based on the points collected on the tokens, and the ranking list will be announced every 24 hours.

Fourth, the entire river crossing process will last for ten days, disregarding life and death, only recognizing results. Those who do not wish to participate can withdraw immediately, but those who withdraw and their families will be forever barred from participating in the World’s First Refining.

After reading the letter, Ye Lingyue generally accepted what Mu Ying had said about taking on disciples.

This World’s First Refining was indeed very harsh, at least much more difficult than what Ye Lingyue had learned about the competition from Ye Wuming before.

In plain terms, this letter from the Sifang City Lord was nothing less than a tyrannical edict.

Considering the City Lord’s reputation and the opportunity to become his Disciple, even if some were afraid and wanted to back out, thinking about the interests of their entire family, they had no choice but to grit their teeth and cross the river.

”We will not withdraw,” the Mu siblings stated on the spot.

”Little Ling, what about you?” Ye Lingyue of course would not withdraw; her concern was for Long Baobao.

For safety reasons, Ye Lingyue must stay on the same single-log canoe with Feng Xun.

Little Wuya was also capable of protecting herself, but Long Baobao was too young, and this tumultuous sand river, whose length was unknown, might hide even more terrifying sand river fierce beasts.

”Sister Yue, I want to participate too,” Long Baobao’s small face showed unprecedented determination.
