Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend

Chapter 782: Chapter 649: The Mysterious Ferry

Ye Lingyue and Feng Xun’s carriage journeyed for three to five days, and with the help of the map given by the Four Directions Envoy, they finally arrived at the location of the Four Directions Ferry.

As everyone got off the carriage, having been sitting for several days, they all felt numb in their limbs. After moving about for a while, they proceeded forward.

However, contrary to expectations, when they reached the location of the Four Directions Ferry, they found no rivers in sight, only a desolate desert lay before them.

Not to mention a ferry, there wasn’t even a river in sight.

”Why isn’t there a ferry as mentioned? Why is there nothing here?” Ye Lingyue’s face was full of surprise.

Just as she was speaking, a few men and women also made their way over.

They were led by a middle-aged woman who looked rather haughty, and there were four of them in total.

On seeing Ye Lingyue and Feng Xun, a pair of young men and women in the group could not help but reveal a look of amazement.

In terms of appearance, the two young people were also of distinguished beauty, but when compared with Ye Lingyue and Feng Xun, they were much less impressive; and this was even with Ye Lingyue and Feng Xun deliberately concealing their brilliance.

”Are you here to attend the World’s First Refining in Sifang City?” Feng Xun took the initiative to step forward and ask.

The middle-aged woman initially couldn’t be bothered to reply, but after seeing Feng Xun’s appearance, she blushed slightly and answered somewhat coyly.

”Is this gentleman also here to participate in the World’s First Refining? May I ask for your esteemed name, and from which noble family or sect do you hail?” It turned out that this woman mistook Feng Xun for a competitor.

Anyone attending the World’s First Refining had to be from a top Artifact Refining Family or a disciple of a sect on the mainland. Feng Xun’s extraordinary looks would make any woman’s heart flutter, and this middle-aged woman was no exception.

Seeing this, Ye Lingyue curled her lips, thinking to herself that Feng Xun was once again causing trouble.

”My name is Feng Xun, a Beiqing person. I am not an Alchemist. This time, I came to Sifang City to accompany my fiancée Hei Yue and her brother to participate in the final selection.”

Feng Xun would have noticed, since just before, this middle-aged woman, followed by the young man and woman, had been secretly sizing up Ye Lingyue and himself. So he decisively clarified the ownership.

As expected, after Feng Xun spoke, the eyes of the young man and woman dimmed a bit, but the middle-aged woman couldn’t help but take a few more glances at Feng Xun.

”Could you be the honorable Family Head Feng Xun from Beiqing Feng Residence?”

After receiving Feng Xun’s affirmative reply, the middle-aged woman’s earlier casual demeanor vanished, replaced by a face full of respect.

The middle-aged woman also introduced the identity of her group. They turned out to be people from a vassal state to the south called Mu Country.

Her family name was Mu, first name Ying, and she was from the Imperial Family of Mu Country. The young man and woman following her were her nephew and niece, named Mu Wu and Mu Shuang.

The two of them were also outstanding Artifact Refiners. This time, both had been selected for the World’s First Refining.

”It turns out you could not find the Four Directions Ferry, which is understandable. All of you young people are here without the guidance of elders, and Sifang City is indeed not easy to find. If you don’t mind, why not wait with us for the appearance of the Four Directions Ferry? When we set off, we can also look out for each other.” The middle-aged woman cordially invited Feng Xun and the others to join them, and Ye Lingyue had no objections.

The two parties combined to form a group of eight people and walked onward, leaving the carriage behind.

Along the way, the man called Mu Wu tried several times to strike up a conversation with Ye Lingyue. Out of politeness, Ye Lingyue casually responded a few times.

Mu Wu was somewhat disheartened and backed off.

”Mu Wu, don’t provoke those people. That woman is the fiancée of Family Head Feng, what are you intervening for?” Mu Ying chided.

”Yes, brother, I think, what’s so great about that woman? She has the face of a sly vixen, clearly not a good person at a glance. I don’t know what Family Head Feng sees in her.” Mu Shuang said, full of disdain.

Although Mu Country was just a small vassal state, due to its connection to Artifact Refining, it held some status on the mainland.

Besides the Three Sects, there was a saying in the Artifact Refining World, known as ”Southern Mu, Northern Long.”

Southern Mu referred to the Mu Country in the south, while Long referred to the Long Family.

The status of brother and sister Mu Wu was akin to that of the Crown Prince and Princess of Mu Country. They were always proud and rarely saw anyone they admired.

Encountering Feng Xun and Ye Lingyue this time, the siblings had a love at first sight, but unfortunately, both Feng Xun and Ye Lingyue were already betrothed, leaving them both inwardly dissatisfied.

”Shuang, your words are inappropriate. Miss Hei Yue is at least an outstanding Artifact Refiner, and as for Feng Xun, he’s merely a wealthy good-for-nothing at most. As long as Miss Hei Yue has not married Feng Xun, I still have a fair chance to compete,” Mu Wu said discontentedly.

”Brother, you mustn’t speak ill of Family Head Feng,” Mu Shuang also got angry.

The siblings stared at each other like fighting cocks.

”Stop it, have you two had enough? Can’t you see that the Hei siblings have walked far ahead? Let me tell you both, don’t have any improper thoughts, especially you, Mu Wu. Family Head Feng is no ordinary man. The wealth of Beiqing Feng Mansion is well-known throughout the world, but few know that Feng Xun also has another identity—that of an outstanding Array Master,” Mu Ying said with a headache as she looked at her two juniors.

However, it was clear that neither young person took Mu Ying’s words to heart.

After traveling for a while, Ye Lingyue and Feng Xun finally saw a Boundary Stele ahead.

The stone was inscribed with the words ”Four Directions Ferry.”

”The time we arranged to meet the Four Directions Envoy is tomorrow afternoon. By then, you will see the real Four Directions Ferry,” Mu Ying said with a smile.

The eight people rested in this place resembling a desert for one night.

During this time, Mu Ying also told them that she had been to Sifang City in her early years, but unfortunately, she did not achieve a good ranking.

”Senior Mu, did you see the Sifang City Lord when you were in Sifang City? Is he really like the legends say, undying and an immortal?” The one asking was Long Baobao, he was the youngest and also the most curious.

”Not everyone can see the Sifang City Lord, and although I took part in the final selection, I regretfully did not get to see the Sifang City Lord. Each World’s First Refining competition, only the first-place winner gets to see the Sifang City Lord, and it is said that the Sifang City Lord is adept at Illusion, so even the first-place winner might not have seen his actual appearance,” Mu Ying’s words increased everyone’s anticipation for their upcoming journey to Sifang City.

The following day, they finally made it through to noon.

At that moment, Ye Lingyue and Feng Xun felt a change in the ground, a sensation like a shockwave continuously coming from the bottom of the sandy land.

The entire surface of the ground was like a massive cloth, rising into wave after wave.

As the undulating of the ground grew more intense, the position where the Four-sided Stele stood earlier suddenly developed a fissure.
