Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend

Chapter 597: Chapter 466: Find a Woman Named ”Ye Lingyue

In the Xia Palace Imperial Study, Xiahou Qi’s desk was piled with memorials like a small mountain.

Xiahou Qi put down the memorial in his hand, on which the words ”Purple Bamboo Ridge” flickered by.

The crisis at Purple Bamboo Ridge was something Xiahou Qi had already known about more than a month ago.

Despite the widespread belief that Purple Bamboo Ridge was a lawless land, in Xiahou Qi’s heart, it was territory of Daxia.

But having just ascended to the throne not long ago, Beiqing’s attitude towards the Purple Bamboo Ridge affair was conservative, and Daxia could not appear too eager either.

”Your Majesty, it’s getting late; it is time for your meal,” the old eunuch by his side reminded him.

Xiahou Qi was undoubtedly a very diligent New Emperor. He had yet to establish his empress and spent his whole day busy with court affairs.

After the rebellion at the Hong Residence, although Xiahou Qi had purged the Hong Party, nearly half the ministers on Daxia’s court were gone, leaving vacancies that he had expended much effort to fill.

The memorial on Purple Bamboo Ridge had been submitted over a month ago, and Xiahou Qi had read it no less than ten times, each time with a deep furrow in his brow.

Even though a few days ago, the emperor had bestowed Purple Bamboo Ridge to Yue Marquis.

”Eunuch Ye, do you think I am harming her? I know Purple Bamboo Ridge is a tough bone to chew, and yet, I pushed it onto her without her knowing,” sighed Xiahou Qi.

”Your Majesty, you’re not making things difficult for Yue Marquis, you just... cannot bear to part with her,” Eunuch Ye was an imperial eunuch from the time of the former Emperor and had watched Xiahou Qi grow up from a young age.

This Sixth Prince was not one to easily give his heart away, but once someone entered his heart, it was likely they could never leave.

Purple Bamboo Ridge was dangerous, but it was also a treasure.

If Yue Marquis could not quell the rebellion, she would have to return to Xia Capital and ask for Xiahou Qi’s help.

But if she succeeded in pacifying the rebellion and secured her footing on Purple Bamboo Ridge, then gaining it would be like gaining a natural barrier and also holding the throat of both Beiqing and Daxia; neither the descendants of Beiqing nor Daxia could underestimate Yue Marquis and her posterity.

As for which outcome the New Emperor truly wished to see, that was unknown. The mind of an emperor is hard to comprehend, and Eunuch Ye dared not speculate rashly.

In the imperial study, the sky gradually darkened, turning the entire sky pitch black as if ink had been spilled.

In a distant end, in the Divine Realm of the Northern Land, stood a palace carved from ice and snow, outside of which the cold northern wind blew ceaselessly all year round.

Similarly, there was a man seated upon the icy throne.

The Divine Sovereign of the Beizhi Realm Divine Sovereign, Xi Jiuye.

The man had a head of waterfall-like grey hair that was tied up high, a Divine Sovereign’s Golden Seal on his forehead, sword-like eyebrows and bright eyes, his demeanor noble. Even among the All Gods in the Divine Realm, he was one of the rare few.

At this moment, a Divine Envoy knelt before the throne.

”Are you saying that someone has found traces of the Eight Desolates Divine Sovereign couple in the Jiu Provinces Plane?”

The Jiu Provinces Plane was a foreign and distant Plane, one not present in Divine Sovereign Jiu Ye’s memory.

”Yes, one of the Main Gods under the Divine Sovereign’s command is a Sect Leader from a sect named Hunyuan Sect in the Jiu Provinces Plane. Before his Ascension, he returned to his sect to pass on his legacy, and it is said that he found marks left by beings from the Divine Realm on the Prohibition of the plane,” said the Divine Envoy respectfully.

”Order the people from his sect to swiftly investigate.”

Xi Jiuye’s face showed no surplus of emotion, yet the hand hidden beneath his sleeve was clenched tightly.

”But Divine Sovereign, the Eight Desolates Divine Sovereign couple has already returned to the Eight Desolates Divine Domain as of yesterday. Does the Divine Sovereign still wish to continue the investigation?” the Divine Envoy asked anxiously.

”Instruct them to look into every place they have visited in the Jiu Provinces Continent and every individual they’ve come into contact with; not a single one can be missed,” Xi Jiuye said coldly.

”As you command.” The Divine Envoy was about to leave.

”Hold on, if I was to search for someone on the Jiu Provinces Continent, how long would it take?” With some difficulty, Xi Jiuye uttered these words.

”Divine Sovereign wishes to seek out someone? Do you have their age, appearance, or a portrait of this person?” The Divine Envoy was somewhat surprised. The Jiu Provinces Continent was so vast, and the Divine Sovereign wanted to find just one person?

”Never mind, begin by gathering information.” Xi Jiuye waved his hand dismissively.

The Divine Envoy left, and in the desolate space of the Ice and Snow Divine Hall, Xi Jiuye remained silent for a long time.

Age... Appearance... Portrait.

The words of the Divine Envoy made Xi Jiuye suddenly realize that despite having shared life and death experiences with that person for thirteen years, he had never kept a single portrait of her.

It turned out that more than five hundred years had passed in a flash, and with time, he had even forgotten her face.

But why is it that he insists on finding her... Is he really afraid of the words she spoke before her soul perished? Maybe so, her eyes filled with resentment at the time of her death were so terrifying.

Her words were chilling to the bone.

”Xi Jiuye, if I, Ye Lingyue, am to be reborn, I will make sure you pay in blood.”

Ye Lingyue, oh Ye Lingyue, have you not always kept your word and upheld your promises?

You are a liar, a big liar. You said you would come for revenge, so why haven’t you returned after five hundred years?

Xi Jiuye couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity, but the laughter that reached his lips was only filled with bitterness.

”What are you thinking about, Brother Jiu Ye?” A beauty, devastating in her allure, approached him. With skin as smooth as cream and a willowy, delicate frame, she was draped in a soft fox fur and leaned into Xi Jiuye’s embrace.

Seeing the beauty in his arms, Xi Jiuye’s face softened with tenderness.

The Northern Land is harsh with freezing temperatures, and women are frail. For his sake, she willingly stayed here.

With her kindness and considerateness, he, Xi Jiuye, should truly cherish her as his wife.

”It’s already night; why haven’t you rested yet? Is your old ailment acting up again?” After saying this, Xi Jiuye summoned his Divine Power to exude a warm current into the woman’s body.

”I can’t sleep alone; will you stay with me?” The woman clung to Xi Jiuye’s waist, her body gradually warming up, but her eyes held a deep, inextinguishable haze.

On this day every year, Xi Jiuye would sit alone in the Divine Hall, lost in thought.

He might not remember, but she remembers clearly. Today is the death anniversary of ”that person.”

If he doesn’t remember, then why hasn’t he declared her as the Divine Queen to this day?

If he doesn’t remember, why would he expend his own Divine Power to treat her illness for five hundred years but refuse to give her those few Divine Elixirs refined from ”that person’s” flesh and blood?

With that thought, the woman held Xi Jiuye tightly.

”Chuchu, you’re still just as mischievous and clingy as when you were little. Stop being foolish; I still have some matters to attend to. Go to sleep on your own tonight,” he said, then ordered the guards to escort her away.

The woman stormed out of the Divine Hall, irritably tearing off the fox fur from her body.

”Tell me, what did the Divine Sovereign instruct you to do earlier?”

The Divine Envoy, who had left before, knelt by the woman’s side and relayed the task entrusted by Divine Sovereign Jiu Ye.

”The appearance of that couple from the Eight Desolates Divine Sovereign is never good news on the Jiu Provinces Continent. Listen, when you go to the Jiu Provinces Continent, keep an eye out for a woman named ’Ye Lingyue’. If you encounter her, execute her on sight!”

The woman’s venomous expression slightly moved the Divine Envoy, who, despite his apprehension, dared not disobey. He acknowledged the order and quickly withdrew.
