Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend

Chapter 573: Chapter 443: A Marriage Proposal

When Feng Xun entered, Xiahou Qi could only feel that the woman in his arms stiffened noticeably.

”How audacious, Feng Xun, you dare defy My decree and barge into the imperial study,” Xiahou Qi, like a leopard whose prey had been snatched away, protected Ye Lingyue in his arms tightly.

This time, although Feng Xun had helped Xiahou Qi out greatly, it was also because of Feng Xun that Xiahou Qi had no choice but to marry Qing Bi.

Xiahou Qi was a clever man; although previously thrown into disarray due to the Hong Residence’s rebellion, after the insurrection was quelled, Xiahou Qi increasingly felt that Feng Xun had set him up.

”Your Majesty, that is a reminder I should be giving you instead. Yue Marquis and Your Majesty should maintain a distance as a man and a woman, and today’s actions were inappropriate.”

Feng Xun, however, paid no heed to Xiahou Qi’s rage. With a raise of his hand, and an unknown technique, Xiahou Qi felt his arms empty as Ye Lingyue had already fallen into Feng Xun’s embrace.

Xiahou Qi flew into a rage.

”Feng Xun, do you really think I dare not kill you!”

”Your Majesty, I only came to remind you that your wedding pact with Princess Qing Bi is just half a year away. If she learns of what you and Yue Marquis have done today, knowing her temper, I fear she will cause unrest between our two nations. Daxia cannot afford another war now, can it?” Feng Xun glanced at Xiahou Qi. ”I only came in to give a reminder. Representatives of Emperor Qing have already arrived at Xia Capital and are waiting outside the palace for Your Majesty’s audience to discuss the marriage alliance between the two countries.”

Having said that, Feng Xun, regardless of Xiahou Qi’s ugly countenance, reached out and scooped Ye Lingyue up by the waist, took long strides, and walked out of the imperial study.

Xiahou Qi opened his mouth, watching as Ye Lingyue docilely lay in Feng Xun’s embrace.

He stood silently in the imperial study for a long while without uttering a word.

Ye Lingyue had been ”rescued” by Feng Xun and was still a bit dazed until they had walked quite a distance from the imperial study when she realized she was still in Feng Xun’s arms.

”Feng Xun, have you gone mad? Put me down.” As the two walked past, many palace maids and eunuchs stared at their intimate behavior, their expressions odd.

This made Ye Lingyue quite embarrassed; she pushed Feng Xun a few times, but who knew that Feng Xun wouldn’t budge, standing firm like a military Nirvana Cannon.

Feng Xun looked down at her and, far from loosening his grip, held her even tighter.

”Xiahou Qi held you, and you didn’t resist, but the moment I hold you, you fight back?”

There was a thick sourness in Feng Xun’s voice.

This woman, what a waste of such a pretty head.

Xiahou Qi was deeply in love with her, yet she dared to casually be alone with him in a room.

He would not let go, absolutely not, at least until the scent of other men on her completely disappeared.

Feng Xun tightly wrapped his arms around her, God knows how much he missed her.

Ever since they parted at Xingxiu Cave, he had not seen her for many months, relying only on the voice from the Phoenix Token to soothe his yearning. Finally seeing her now, this woman was busy assisting Xiahou Qi in managing court affairs, counting her winnings, accompanying the Ye Family to tour Xia Capital, and completely forgot to come see him.

Feng Xun felt like a little wife neglected by her husband, full of resentful energy.

”Which eye of yours saw me not resisting? Ease up, I can hardly breathe,” said Ye Lingyue, enveloped in Feng Xun’s embrace which carried a faint scent of sandalwood, very pleasant.

Her earlobes, without reason, turned red. Ye Lingyue felt her entire face burning with shyness.

She admitted that after returning to Xia Capital, she intentionally kept her distance from Feng Xun.

Because she didn’t know when it began, but seeing Feng Xun made her feel very uneasy, and she grew uncomfortable whenever his gaze fell upon her.

Yet when she hadn’t seen him for a while, she felt irritable.

This feeling was too unfamiliar for Ye Lingyue.

She was usually reserved and it was only her closest kin and friends that she kept in her thoughts.

She had thought that Feng Xun was a close friend, but now it seemed their relationship had changed.

”Feng Xun, you scoundrel, who let you take liberties with me!” Ye Lingyue was angry and her hand swept towards him, but when her palm was near his face, she couldn’t bring herself to strike.

”Ling Yue, since you’ve been taken advantage of by me, why not marry me?” Feng Xun, seeing her anger, didn’t get angry. Instead, he held her in his arms and spoke softly.

”I won’t marry you.” Ye Lingyue was still angry, but her heart felt a hint of sweetness.

”Then marry me. You took liberties with me; you should take responsibility,” Feng Xun said righteously.

”Damn you, Feng Xun, what nonsense are you talking about? I was just trying to save you... you’re shameless.” Ye Lingyue recalled the incident at Xingxiu Cave, how she had, in front of everyone, with Feng Xun... She touched her cheek, feeling waves of heat.

Looking at Feng Xun again, his handsome face brimming with smiles under the bright sunshine, so alluring one could not look away.

Evil creature, this man, he was a Great Demon.

Ye Lingyue was furious with Feng Xun for his forwardness, and also upset with herself for not being able to harshly rebuff him. She stomped her foot, left Feng Xun behind, and pulled away to leave.

”In a few months will be Emperor Qing’s twentieth year celebration of ascension, I plan to announce our matter to the world,” Feng Xun said from behind.

Ye Lingyue paused for a moment but still ran away without turning her head back.
