Falling For My Alpha Stepsister (GL)

The Day The Girls First Met.

It was a rainy day 5 years ago at Kanoe High School.

Seventeen year old April stood quietly outside her school building, staying under a concrete shade while waiting for the heavy downpour to stop before heading home.

She held her phone to her ear, calling her mom to inform her that she was stuck at school and asking if she could come pick her up. Eleanor replied smoothly that she was not in town and was away for work.

April stayed silent, holding the phone against her cheek. As expected, her dear mother had actually arrived home from work early that morning, but April already knew she wasn’t going to see her mom when she returned home from school anyway.

Her mom always left her home alone because she was constantly working in a long-distance location, leaving April as the only one who cared for herself in their small apartment.

The only thing her mother did was making sure her daughter gets to be fed well, paying school fees and other important bills but being a mother was never part of the parenting given to April as a child.

Her dad never once came to check up on her after her parents’ painful divorce. And still he was in the same town.

April let out a long sigh as she looked out at the falling rain, watching the water cascade down from the edge of the roof. She stretched her hand out past the awning, letting the cool raindrops collect in her open palm.

She lifted her hand and drank the fresh rainwater, a faint, genuine smile touching her lips right after.

”The rain tastes delicious today...I want more and more water..” she muttered softly to herself.

She did not even realize that there was someone else standing right beside her under the shade.

April’s eyes were slightly blurry because she wasn’t wearing her glasses at the moment, having tucked them away to keep them dry. She couldn’t see the person’s face properly at all, only recognizing the dark color of their clothes through the haze.

The person wore a thick black tracksuit and had a wide black hoodie completely covering their head. They had a brightly colored backpack slung over one shoulder, with a large surfboard resting flat by their side.

The stranger had been quietly looking at her for a long while until April finally noticed their presence.

April gave a small, polite nod, greeting them with a soft smile, but the person did not answer her at all. They just turned their head away toward the wet street.

Looking down at the tall surfboard in their hand, April wondered if they had come to participate in the local surf contest. April’s high school was currently hosting one, and her coastal town happened to have a massive sea suitable for that kind of intense ocean activity.

Despite living her whole life in a town completely surrounded by the sea and rivers, April had never once learned to do any outdoor activities. Her mother kept her locked inside the house constantly, and she barely ever got to come out.

Even basic things like riding a bicycle had been taught to her by her father long before the family separation happened. Her mother was always deeply afraid of her drowning in the ocean or making bad company around the neighborhood.

Because of that strict shelter, the young Omega had no close friends and participated in no sports activities.

”Can I touch your surfboard?” April quietly asked, pointing her hand toward the smooth board.

Without saying a single word, the person gently shifted the weight and handed the board over to her.

April played with the edge of the surfboard for a while, running her fingers along the sleek surface before returning it carefully back to the quiet stranger.

”Thank you... It’s really beautiful,” April suggested with a warm tone. ”If you paint it a bit more on the sides, it will be even more beautiful.”

Still, the person remained entirely silent, not offering a response. April even began to wonder if they simply couldn’t speak at all.

Just then, a sleek blue SUV pulled up directly in front of the shade, splashing water from the curb. The driver rolled down the side, and the stranger stepped forward and entered the vehicle.

April hurried over and knocked gently on the clear glass of the back window.

”Please, my house is just a little further down the road,” April asked, holding her wet arms close. ”Can you give me a lift, if you don’t mind?”

The passenger door unlocked. April was given a lift straight to her house, and when the car pulled up to her curb, she thanked both the quiet person and the driver repeatedly.

They did not see it as a big deal at all. Right before driving away into the heavy storm, the hoodie-clad person pushed the passenger door open, gave April the entire surfboard, and drove off into the rain.

April was completely beaming with happiness, holding the heavy board tightly in her arms. She stood on her porch, desperately hoping that one day she would finally learn how to swim and use this exact surfboard out in the ocean waves.

But that brief moment of true happiness did not last long.

Her mother returned home late that exact night. Seeing the surfboard standing right in the living room corner, Eleanor instantly assumed that April had disobeyed her orders and had been outside playing in the dangerous ocean all day.

Right in front of the crying, pleading girl, Eleanor dragged the board out to the back yard pit and burned the surfboard until it was nothing but black ash.

That brief encounter under the shade was actually the very first time someone from the outside world had ever interacted with April like a real human being and given her a gift.

To April, the first time she ever met Angel Morningstar was years later inside the mansion by the sparkling pool, watching her play with her little baby cat.

But to Angel, the first time she ever met April was on a cold, rainy day five years ago under a school shade.

Neither girl had any clue about the reality of that day.

April barely saw Angel’s blurred face through the heavy rain without her glasses, while Angel had returned home later that exact evening to find her own Omega mother floating lifelessly inside the swimming pool.

Angel’s entire young mind had been completely crowded with the sudden tragedy of that night, burying every single memory of the quiet girl under the roof.

And neither of them ever knew that their paths had already crossed long before they ever met in that mansion.
