Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)

Su Yubing settled beside Mo Yuxin with a grateful nod. Manager Qin bustled off to bring fresh tea and a small tray of sweet lotus cakes. As he poured, he could not keep his eyes from flicking to Mo Yuxin’s pale-green jade ring.

”This.... Does immortal Mo want to purchase this set of couple’s ring?”

Manager Qin asked, voice hushed and respectful.

Mo Yuxin’s eyes—and Su Yubing’s—glimmered at the sight. Before them lay the most exquisite pair of rings in all Azure-Dragon City: two splendid bands of flawless jade, inlaid with spun silver and studded with faintly glowing moonstones. They had admired it at first glance when the tray was opened.

Su Yubing’s said with a smile, ”We do. It will definitely look good on us.”

Manager Qin was a little stunned to hear her words before he immediately connected the dots and quickly showed a professional smile as he said,

”Congratulations to immortal Mo for finding the love of her life.”

Mo Yuxin heard his polite words with a smile on her face and simply said,

”Thank you.”

Manager Mo hesitated, bowing his head in respect as he set the polished jade cups before them. The delicate steam curled upward, carrying the scent of lotus and honey. Then, emboldened by Mo Yuxin’s calm assent, he ventured softly:

”You… Immortal Mo,” he began, voice barely above a whisper, ”just a year ago, when Master Ji Yanran asked if you wished to buy a couple’s ring, you replied that matters of love and romance did not concern you.” He paused, eyes flicking from Mo Yuxin to Su Yubing and back again. ”And now—here you stand, ready to claim these rings for yourselves.”

Su Yubing chuckled, a sound like the ripple of clear stream water. She leaned closer to Mo Yuxin, brushing her fingers against her fiancé’s hand. ”Who would have believed that ’no love for me’ would become ’all love for you’ in merely a year?” She gave Mo Yuxin a teasing smile. ”Immortal Mo, has your heart truly been won over so completely?”

A slight pink bloomed on Mo Yuxin’s cheeks. She ducked her head for a moment, then straightened and reached for Su Yubing’s hand. With a swift, graceful motion, she pressed her lips to Su Yubing’s fingertips—then, as if caught in the tide of their shared joy, Mo Yuxin lifted Su Yubing’s hand and planted a small, sudden peck on her cheek. The shop’s lantern light caught that fleeting kiss like dew on bamboo.

Su Yubing gasped softly, eyes widening. She wrapped both arms around Mo Yuxin’s waist in a reflexive hug, pulling her close. Mo Yuxin’s own arms rose, fingers tangling in Su Yubing’s robes as they shared that unguarded moment of affection.

Manager Qin, who had been pouring tea at a respectful distance, nearly dropped the porcelain pot. His face flushed with awkward delight—forced to witness such public tenderness, he could only avert his gaze respectfully and clear his throat. The lotus cakes on their tray trembled as he replaced the teapot.

Mo Yuxin snapped her fingers, and the moment dissolved like mist. She cleared her throat, stepping back with measured grace. ”Now, Manager Qin,” she said, her voice returning to businesslike calm, ”what is the price of these couple’s rings?”

Manager Qin bowed deeply. ”Miss Mo, mistress Su, this couple’s ring is inlaid with a high-level defensive rune—capable of withstanding a full-powered strike from a perfection-stage golden-core cultivator.” He tapped the smooth surface of the jade band with a fingertip. ”The inner void is unusually spacious: one can store external talismans within it, or activate the rune’s defensive matrix at a moment’s notice. Its craftsmanship is peerless in all Azure-Dragon City.”

He glanced furtively at Mo Yuxin’s composed visage. ”The cost is two hundred thousand spirit stones. It is the most expensive item in our Kunlun branch—indeed, it scarcely belongs here in a medium-sized city without a single golden-core cultivator. But a year ago, when Miss Mo declined Master Ji Yanran’s suggestion to purchase it, Ji Yanran’s husband, master Yun Yifeng, quietly ordered this ring from their own private collection into our display. When Mistress Ji asked why, he merely smiled and said, ’I have a premonition that Miss Mo will need it someday.’”

Su Yubing’s eyebrows lifted. ”A premonition,” she repeated softly. ”How prophetic.”

Mo Yuxin’s eyes softened as she regarded the rings. She lifted the velvet pouch, uncorking it to reveal the twin bands nestled within. The lantern light glinted on their moonstones, casting pale ripples across the carved screens.

She quickly reached into her sleeves and took out a simple looking storage bag and Manager Qin was also quick witted and immediately took out an empty storage bag and Mo Yuxin just lightly let the two storage bags touch each other and with a single thought, she transferred two hundred thousand low level spirit stones to manager qin’s bag.

Mo Yuxin withdrew her hands and said with a calm voice, ”Manager qin should check the amount now.”

Manager qin heard her words and instead of checking it, he quickly took the bag inside his sleeves and said with the same professional smile, ”No need, miss Mo. We trust you.”

Mo Yuxin smiled and didn’t say anything but couldn’t help but think that it was a good thing that all her and Su Yubing’s wealth from the other world had also come with them in their world. Now, they have a huge amount of wealth which was accumulated for hundreds of years in the other world by them.

After the transaction was completed, Mo Yuxin turned towards Su Yubing with the rings in her hand and gently placed them in Su Yubing’s fair hands as she said, ”How are they? Do you like them?”

Manager Qin on the side quickly bowed once more,

”May these rings guard you both—and witness your vows.”

As he slipped away to reset the display case, Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing stood alone in the soft glow of the shop’s lanterns. Su Yubing slipped the first ring onto Mo Yuxin’s ring finger, sliding it home with a tender smile. Mo Yuxin returned the favor, her pulse thumping in her wrist as she placed the second ring on Su Yubing’s hand.

They paused, gazing at each other’s hands—bands of jade and moonlight binding them in oath and promise. Silence wrapped around them like silken robes, as Su Yubing said in a choked voice,

”Umm.. I love them.”

Mo Yuxin exhaled, a quiet laugh escaping her lips as she stepped close enough that their robes brushed. ”I love them too,” she said. Then, voice low and fierce, she added, ”But I love you more.”

Su Yubing’s cheeks warmed at the declaration, but before she could reply, the heavy shop door crashed open. A column of black-robed figures filled the entrance—a young man flanked by six towering bodyguards. The newcomer’s robes were trimmed with condor feathers; his eyes radiated restrained fury.

Manager Qin froze behind his counter, teapot in hand. Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing exchanged a look: neither recognized these intruders, nor did they care. Now that both had ascended to the nascent-soul realm, they answered to no mortal authority.

The young man at the front—tall, dark-haired, with a sharp jaw—stepped forward. His bodyguards fanned out behind him, each one an obvious practitioner of formidable cultivation. Yet none bore the unmistakable aura of a nascent soul. They were at best Foundation Realm perfection-stage, only one of them in the middle, who is definitely the leader of these guards is an Initial Golden Core adept, though not beyond question.

Lan Xuan of the Azure Condor Clan inclined his head, voice cool: ”You two, you have claimed what belongs to my Azure Condor clan—these couple’s rings.” He gestured at rings in their fingers. ”Hand them over, or suffer the consequences.”

His bodyguards adjusted their stances, swords sliding free with a resonant hum. The middle guard, rumored a cultivation veteran despite lacking a golden core, flexed his polished breastplate. The others crouched, muscles coiled like spring steel.

”Azure Condor Clan? What’s that?,” Mo Yuxin began, voice calm yet laced with unyielding power, ”these rings are not—and have never been—your clan’s property. They await their rightful owners.” She extended one hand toward the rings as if claiming destiny itself. ”I am that owner.”

Lan Xuan sneered. ”You overreach. We are one of the Five Great Clans. We can seize any treasure in Azure-Dragon City.”

Mo Yuxin’s gaze sharpened. With a flick of her wrist, her aura compressed into a single point of unimaginable force. Lanterns sparked. Glass cases cracked. Even the shop’s carved screens groaned under the pressure.

Lan Xuan’s lips parted. ”You dare—”

In that instant, Mo Yuxin stepped forward. Her palm, glowing faint jade, lashed out: SLAP! Like a thunderbolt striking a granite cliff, her hand struck Lan Xuan’s cheek. The sound echoed ten thousand strikes in the silent hall.

Blood spurted from Lan Xuan’s lip as his head snapped sideways. The bodyguards lunged but found their swords stuck in the air. Mo Yuxin’s aura flared outward, an invisible barrier that repelled them like storm-tossed waves.

Lan Xuan crumpled to one knee, hand clutching his reddened face. His newfound pain drowned his rage. The bodyguards hovered, uncertain, eyes flicking between their lord and the two women whose power shook even the heavy stone floor.

Without breaking her calm, Mo Yuxin leveled one serene gaze at them. ”Leave now, or be struck again.” Her tone fell like a guillotine’s blade.

Mo Yuxin’s jade-green aura rippled outward like the surface of a tumultuous sea, and the bodyguards’ grim determination faltered at the threshold. One—towering, muscle-bound, sword gleaming—charged forward in a blur of black steel, convinced his strength alone could cow these newcomers.

With casual ease, Mo Yuxin extended a single finger. No flourish, no shout—just the faintest glimmer of her rune-inscribed palm. In an instant, the air between them stiffened into invisible iron bands. The guard’s sword arm froze mid-swing. His eyes bulged as that invisible matrix crushed the very bones in his arm, dropping him to his knees with a muffled crack. He collapsed sideways, spitting jade-tinged blood, armor buckled like tinfoil.

The second guard—known for his twin daggers and lightning-fast footwork—lunged from the flank. Mo Yuxin’s hairpin flicked from her chignon like a silent arrow, embedding itself in the guard’s dagger hand. He howled, blade clattering to the floor; with a single breath, Mo Yuxin’s aura spiraled outward, a cyclone that spun him head-over-heels across the showroom, sending jade necklaces and crystal bowls skittering in every direction.

The third and fourth guards, senses reeling, tried to flank her together. They lifted their swords in a synchronized strike, steel meeting steel in a defiant chime. But Mo Yuxin’s palm bloomed jade fire: a wave so pure and cold it froze their blades in place. With a step, she brushed past their quivering weapons, and her elbow—lightning lit under moonlight—tapped one guard’s solar plexus. He keeled over, breath snatched from his lungs, collapsing atop his brother who lay writhing in agony.

Only two remained, and their leader—the so-called Initial Golden Core adept—stepped forward, cloak swirling. He attempted a thunderous palm strike, his cultivation level evident in the shockwave that rattled the screens. Yet Mo Yuxin met him squarely, arms folded. His palm struck empty air. The shockwave recoiled in on itself, battering the golden-core cultivator until his legs buckled beneath him. He dropped to his knees, eyes swirling with disbelieving terror.

At last, only Lan Xuan—the clan lord or whoever he is—crawled backward, cheek reddened, reputation shattered. Mo Yuxin’s aura settled into a serene glow as she smoothed her robes. Su Yubing stepped forward then, placing a gentle hand on Mo Yuxin’s arm, her own aura a silver curtain of support.

A hush fell over the showroom as doors crashed open. Outside, the crowd that had gathered on Jade-River Street surged forward—office clerks, tea vendors, street urchins, even visiting cultivators from distant sects. Their eyes widened at the sight of the crippled bodyguards strewn before two women.

Su Yubing moved beside Mo Yuxin, placing a steady hand on her waist. ”Overbearing as ever,” she teased slightly.

Mo Yuxin’s lips curved in a slight smile. ”Never let a clan forget their place.”

Lan Xuan crawled toward the exit, voice cracked. ”This isn’t over—”

Mo Yuxin lifted a single finger. The air snapped; Lan Xuan screamed as his body was thrown backward like a leaf on a gale, skidding across jade tiles before coming to rest in a shattered doorway.

All around them, voices rose in awed murmurs—snatches of gossip that floated on the night air like lantern-glow petals:
