Chapter 1321: Chapter 32: Burning Sea

Su Xiao glanced at the Special level Alchemy Bomb that Doflamingo took out and instantly understood his intention.

Su Xiao could confirm that Doflamingo did not reveal the existence of Apollo to Jack. This guy intends to use Apollo as a secret weapon to resist the Big Mom Pirate Group’s attacks.

If Jack knew about Apollo, he would at least demand one from Doflamingo and send it to his boss, Kaido.

”You should all be aware of my current situation.”

Su Xiao’s gaze turned to Jack. Jack did not speak, indicating he had already learned about Su Xiao’s predicament from Doflamingo.

The brief skirmish between Su Xiao and Jack seemed reckless, but it was not. Su Xiao was very clear on how to deal with evildoers. Without the brief confrontation, Jack wouldn’t have the current attitude but would instead try to squeeze Su Xiao’s value.

Through the brief skirmish, Jack understood that Su Xiao was not easy to mess with; hence, the three were sitting at the dining table to negotiate.

”Who I make bombs for actually doesn’t matter to me. Rather than serve the World Government, I’m more willing to cooperate with pirates. After all, when working with pirates, I can ensure my personal freedom. However...”

Su Xiao’s ’however’ made Doflamingo’s heart skip a beat. He didn’t need to think to know that getting Apollo from Su Xiao wouldn’t be as easy as it was before.

”Recently, my bomb-making technique has improved, and I can manufacture some special models of explosives.”

”Special models?”

Jack glanced at Doflamingo, who waved his index finger back and forth, indicating he also didn’t know, though, in reality, his mind was as clear as a mirror.

”That’s right, special models. As an act of sincerity in working with you, I’ll manufacture ordinary model bombs unconditionally. As for special model bombs, these will require certain costs.”

Su Xiao hadn’t researched any new model Alchemy Bombs. What he referred to as special models were simply Apollo.

”That’s quite fair.”

Doflamingo’s sense of foreboding grew even stronger.

Jack remained silent, implying agreement. He also felt that Su Xiao was a good collaborator. Firstly, Su Xiao was strong and could participate in crucial battles. Su Xiao was the one who eliminated ’Charlotte Perospero’ and ’Charlotte Cracker’. Having fought both before, Jack knew their strength.

”I’m not interested in money, and as for power, if I were keen on power, I wouldn’t have gotten away from the World Government.”

This time, even Doflamingo showed signs of doubt. He and Jack exchanged glances, both suddenly feeling that Su Xiao might not be reliable.

Neither for wealth nor status, who in the world would have such dreamlike collaborators?

”I’m very interested in famous swords. If there are no famous swords, a Devil Fruit would be acceptable, but I don’t accept artificial Devil Fruits.”

”Cough, cough...”

Jack was choked by the wine, and Su Xiao’s subsequent words dispelled any ’dreamlike collaborator’ thought he had.

”For instance, I’m very interested in the Great Swift Sword Twenty-one.”

”...”

”...”

The banquet hall plunged into deathly silence. Sugar looked at Su Xiao in astonishment, her little eyes clearly implying: ’Are you a devil? So greedy.’

”As for the specific numbers in the exchange, three special model bombs for one Great Swift Sword Twenty-one.”

The Great Swift Sword Twenty-one Su Xiao mentioned isn’t limited to only twenty-one pieces. It’s just the pirate world’s rating for famous swords.

The so-called Twenty-one, refers to the top 21 ranked swords among the Great Swift Swords. According to the World Government’s official stats, there are at least over forty Great Swift Swords in existence.

Famous swords are meant for battle, and battles cause wear, ones left lost at sea, or even discarded. Without forging new Great Swift Swords, they’d be left with only a few or even none. Truly rare are the Supreme Great Swords.

For example, in the original story, Roronoa Zoro’s Good Fast Blade Snow Walker was destroyed, yet it remained one of the Fifty Good Blades.

Good Fast Blade

”Right, forgot to mention, materials are your responsibility, and as for the trading details, these are ’negotiable.’

Su Xiao certainly wouldn’t demand Doflamingo or Jack to produce Great Swift Swords immediately. That’s basically impossible, and the specifics of the trade need thorough discussion. Three Apollo for one Great Swift Sword is his personal price; of course, Doflamingo and Jack wouldn’t immediately agree to this price.

”I want to see the finished product.”

Jack did not reject outright.

”There’s no finished product at the moment.”

”...”

Jack lost interest in the special model bombs. It’s unknown whether his attitude will change after witnessing Apollo’s explosion.

After a hearty meal, Jack picked up the Iron Jaw on the table, put it on his lower jaw, and left King’s Highland saying, ’I’m going to settle my subordinates.’

”Bai Ye, you’re asking too much.”

Doflamingo’s expression wasn’t pleasant, having only acquired two Apollos, which definitely aren’t enough for war.

”Is that so? Then I’ll have to temporarily stop making Apollo.”

”Apollo...”

In fact, Doflamingo also knew the special model bombs were Apollo. Su Xiao’s previous cooperation confirmed one thing for him: compared to the Beast Pirates, Su Xiao was more willing to work with the Donquixote Family.

Su Xiao stood up and headed upstairs in the villa. He wasn’t worried about Doflamingo refusing his price. The opponent hadn’t used Apollo yet. Once they’ve had a taste, their attitude will change.

Su Xiao returned to the fourth floor of the villa and locked the door. After a long wait, the third ring of the main task was finally activated.

[Upgrade/Main Task; Defensive Battle (Third Stage).]

Difficulty Level: Lv.37

Task Brief: Completely repel the Big Mom Pirate Group and gain 1500 pirate reputation points.

Task Info: The upgrade/main task has four stages.

Task Deadline: 18 natural days.

Task Reward: Soul Crystal (Large) ×5, 2 True Attribute Points, 40000 Paradise coins.

Task Penalty: Forced execution.

...

The difficulty of upgrading/main task directly increases from Lv.15 to Lv.37.

Su Xiao completely ignored the 1500 pirate reputation points. As for completely repelling the Big Mom Pirate Group, he was somewhat puzzled whether it meant driving the Big Mom Pirate Group out of Dressrosa’s nearby waters or dismantling the Big Mom Pirate Group’s fleet entirely?

The former seems possible, but the latter’s difficulty would increase several times.

Su Xiao keenly realized that his main task might be different from other third-tier contractors. Let alone repelling the Big Mom Pirate Group, just that 1500 pirate reputation points would be enough to trap more than 95% of third-tier contractors.

Except for Su Xiao, the third-tier contractor with the highest pirate reputation currently only had 986 pirate reputation points.

Su Xiao’s task was different from other third-tier contractors; he had already guessed this fact. His current task was a combination of the promotion to Fourth Tier’s assessment task and main task, although the target was clearer, the task difficulty increased significantly.

Su Xiao immersed himself on the bed with a thud; he desperately needed rest now.

Not knowing how long he slept, Su Xiao was startled awake by a loud roar, accompanied by a large number of notifications appearing.

[You obtained 10 pirate reputation points.]

[You obtained 1 pirate reputation point.]

[You obtained 32 pirate reputation points.]

[You obtained 6 pirate reputation points.]

......

The notifications instantly ’spam-texted’, at least hundreds, and Su Xiao directly acquired 1690 pirate reputation points.

Su Xiao sat up from the bed, tore open the curtains. The outside was pitch-black, but on the coastline, a large patch of raging flames was particularly conspicuous, covering at least half a kilometer.

The Big Mom Pirate Group landed on the island under the cover of night, and shortly after they landed, Doflamingo dispatched someone to throw an Apollo at them.

Sand, ships, and even seawater were burning, with large amounts of steam rising.

...

On the rooftop of a civilian house on the edge of Dressrosa’s coast, Doflamingo looked at the large patch of burning flames, slightly looking stunned.

”Pika, instruct the Shapodi Auction House guys to start purchasing Great Swift Swords as soon as possible.”

Doflamingo stared at the raging fire. The Big Mom Pirate Group’s night raid plan failed before even being implemented, having been blasted back by one shot of Apollo.
