Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 1459: Chapter 1453: Recognizing Relatives_1 Chapter 1459: Chapter 1453: Recognizing Relatives_1 “Come in.” Nangong Beiying came out to greet them after hearing their voices.

“Dad.” Seeing Jing Xin, Jingtao walked straight towards him.

“Taotao.” Jing Xin reached out to hold his son’s hand, following Nangong Beiying into the house.

It wasn’t Qin Xue’s first visit to the Nangong residence, but the grandeur of the place still shocked her every time. Such majestic architecture was rare even in the future society, let alone this era.

Therefore, she always found herself looking around in awe every time she visited. However, she had no desire to live here, as the place was too vast and felt rather cold and lonely. Qin Xue preferred the courtyard houses she lived in – they were spacious yet had a sense of elegant simplicity, presenting a different style from the grandeur of the Nangong residence.

“Take a seat, I’ll go get the old man.” Nangong Beiying knew that around this time Nangong Kunpeng was usually reading in his study.

“Alright.” Everyone replied in unison.

“Knock, knock.” Nangong Beiying knocked on the door of the study.

“Come in.” Nangong Kunpeng, not knowing who would be visiting him at this time, was generally left undisturbed during his reading time.

“Dad.” When facing Nangong Kunpeng, Nangong Beiying still referred to him as ‘dad’.

“Yingying, come sit.” Nangong Kunpeng looked at his beloved daughter. Since she had returned, he had been recuperating and living a carefree life, leaving all business matters to her.

“Dad, there’s something I need to tell you today. Please don’t get too excited.” Nangong Beiying wanted to prepare him in advance. Nangong Kunpeng’s health had deteriorated significantly since he was poisoned with chronic poison. Fearing that he might get too agitated and experience an adverse reaction, she thought it best to give him a heads-up.

“What is it?” Nangong Kunpeng placed a bookmark in his book before turning to look at his daughter.

“My elder brother may not be dead.” As she spoke, Nangong Beiying kept a close eye on Nangong Kunpeng’s expression.

“Really? But is that possible? His torn and bloodied clothes were brought back to us then, all bear the signs of a wild animal’s teeth. His clothes were soaked in blood.” Nangong Kunpeng recalled his eldest son’s disappearance. He sent people to search for him, but after a long long time, all they returned with was a bloodied set of clothes. His wife could not bear the shock and her health declined rapidly. She passed away not long after giving birth to their daughter.

Now his daughter claimed that his eldest son might still be alive. He felt excited, but wondered if the news was credible? Or had his daughter found the person himself?

“Dad, when have I ever lied to you? The person is in our living room right now. But before we meet him, I want to ask you something. I hope you can be honest with me, okay?” Nangong Beiying thought of Qin Xue’s family.

“Just ask. As long as your brother is truly alive, I’ll tell you everything.” Thinking of his son, Nangong Kunpeng felt that he could face his wife with a clear conscience even if he died.

“Do I have an aunt?” Nangong Beiying asked about a topic never brought up in the Nangong family.

“Yingying, why would you ask that?” Nangong Kunpeng didn’t expect his daughter to ask this question.

“Don’t you remember my sister Qin Xue? She has the same birthmark as I do. You once told me that the birthmark is unique to our family. However, I don’t have any lost sisters out there, do I?” Nangong Beiying did not let her father divert the topic.

“I do have a younger sister, your aunt. Her original name was Nangong Shulan. She was very beautiful and was the sweetest when she was young. We got separated due to war and couldn’t find her ever since. Your grandmother was most worried about her when she passed away.

But no matter how hard we searched, we couldn’t find her. Gradually, this matter was forgotten in the Nangong Family so as not to keep reminding your grandparents of their sorrow.” Nangong Kunpeng was the one who loved his younger sister the most, but sadly she had gone missing since her childhood. In spite of all the efforts they made later on, they still couldn’t find her.
