Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 104: Chapter 103: Holding a Sharp Blade

Suddenly, the voices returned. The once silent world erupted with noise in an instant, and Alka heard his teammates from behind him.

”They disappeared, stay alert!” It was Chadite’s voice.

”Energy Sweep!”

With Jason’s voice, the Wheat Ears Crown above his head shimmered with dazzling golden light.

A circle of pale golden ripples swept through. Alka watched the golden glow ignite on his body, pushing back the Evil Spirits step by step. The Evil Spirits that had partially concealed themselves were once again revealed by the golden wave.

The same move, amplified by the Wheat Ears Crown, was far more dramatic than the last time. This alleviated the dangerous situation the group had been in. With all enemies pushed further away, they had more opportunities to adjust.

At the same time, a Shield resembling flowing water appeared on Alka, originating from behind him and directly facing the tentacles.

Another blast of condensed ammunition pierced the previously screaming priest. Under the golden Energy Sweep and the ammunition’s penetration, he transformed into green smoke.

”He disappeared,” Lucilia’s voice announced the priest’s death.

The Knight Evil Spirit Alka was facing sped up again, the Soul Blade in its hand already glowing with a crimson light.

One card after another was thrown out by Alka. These cards transformed directly into Mirrors mid-air, forming a ring that surrounded Alka and the Soul Knight he was facing.

However, the Soul Knight was completely unaffected, passing straight through the Mirrors toward Alka.

It’s useless. Ordinary materials are no obstacle to him; Wall-Penetrating is his most basic ability.

Moreover, he can accurately locate my position, Alka quickly realized, and immediately emptied all the ammunition from his pistol.

Then he turned his head and shouted loudly, ”Jason, Light! The biggest you can!”

”No problem, give me a moment.”

Upon hearing Alka, Jason immediately responded. Chadite quickly took his place, piercing the Evil Spirits in front of her.

The damaged Shield of flowing water reappeared on Jason, while Vanessa’s spider silk shot out like sharp needles. Everyone was fighting hard to buy Jason a brief moment.

Jason retreated to the center of the group, his mouth slightly open, uttering incomprehensible words, chanting. As he chanted, the Wheat Ears Crown on his head grew brighter, his Magic Power continuously gushing out.

”It’s coming! Energy Burst!”

This time, the golden light formed directly into columns, splitting into three jets that shot out.

While waiting, Alka had already filled the surroundings with Mirrors. One Mirror after another appeared, wildly reflecting the incoming light. This was something Alka and Jason had researched on the ship when they had nothing else to do. The Mirrors Alka created had excellent reflectivity and could easily reflect Holy Light. The prerequisite was that the Holy Light’s properties had to meet certain requirements. For instance, the Holy Light Jason created was more akin to light than Energy. Holy Light that leaned more towards the Energy aspect could directly shatter the Mirrors.

With a momentary reflection from the Mirrors, the golden light dispersed, illuminating the entire growth hall completely in a golden glow. This suddenly flashing strong light broke through the windows, even illuminating the outside.

At this moment, all the hidden Evil Spirits revealed themselves, the green parts on their bodies even beginning to emit smoke. Some priestly Evil Spirits, driven completely mad, were already letting out agonized roars. Under the intense Holy Light, they couldn’t launch any attacks and struggled even to move from their spots. The once-nimble Knight Evil Spirits also began to slow, though they didn’t seem to suffer much harm from the Holy Light.

These beams of light, refracted by Alka’s deliberate control of the Mirrors, merged into multiple energy bodies, precisely piercing the stationary priestly Evil Spirits. The accumulated Holy Light Energy was like fire setting paper ablaze. Almost all the priestly Evil Spirits vanished, turning into green smoke.

Alka quickly reloaded, pouring out his ammunition, firing bullets at all the Knight Evil Spirits. Chadite’s hands were completely enveloped in Holy Light, dragging silver trails as she swung, punch after punch landing on these Knight Evil Spirits.

However, the effect differed greatly from what they had imagined.

”Holy Mother, bless us!”

The Archbishop Evil Spirit fighting Andre suddenly raised the Scepter in his hand high. The surrounding Holy Light uncontrollably drilled into the bodies of those Knight Evil Spirits.

”What the hell?” Jason, already exhausted from the Energy Burst, sat in the middle, shaking his head in confusion. The Energy, once burst out and refracted, is no longer under my control. Now it’s being controlled by the Archbishop, but why is it converging into those Evil Spirits’ bodies? How is this any different from throwing flames into a pile of cotton?

However, it was completely different from what everyone imagined. The golden Holy Light Energy, controlled by the Archbishop, integrated into the Knight Evil Spirits. It transformed into their Armor, clothing the originally pale-green Knight Evil Spirits in golden plate, and exuding a sense of sanctity.

Calling them Evil Spirits? They seem more like heroic spirits sent to punish enemies. Yet the ink-green blades in their hands, and the crimson glows on them, seemed completely out of place.

Realizing something was amiss, Gami shouted, reminding everyone: ”No! These Knight Evil Spirits haven’t fully turned into Evil Spirits! They are the source of faith. Perhaps it’s their will, or something else, but they still retain their faith.”

No wonder. No wonder the previous beams hadn’t caused them much harm, only slowing their steps. The miserable roars of those priestly Evil Spirits were completely different.

Chadite dodged the blade aimed at her, leaping back a few steps. ”Evil Spirits that aren’t afraid of Holy Light,” she asked aloud, ”how do we deal with them?”

Alka, too, was dodging the attacks of the Knight Evil Spirit before him, each swing of its Soul Blade bringing forth a crimson glow.

”Don’t get hurt! These blades wound the soul and won’t be blocked by physical matter!” Andre’s voice came from ahead.

Andre’s hands now radiated a blue light as he used the purest Magic Power to fend off the enemy’s attacks. His left leg trembled slightly; he had already been hit once by the enemy.

A somewhat exhausted Jason was being pulled aside by Vanessa, dodging a Knight Evil Spirit’s attacks. Meanwhile, Gami controlled his vehicle, crawling all over the walls, striking the enemy with his green glowing tentacles.

Alka also kept retreating. Fortunately, the blue Water Chain could coil around the Evil Spirit’s ethereal form, giving him a chance to breathe.

”Careful!” Lucilia’s voice reached his ears.

Alka had no time to react before he sensed something grabbing the back of his clothes, spinning him in a half-circle, and flinging him away. In mid-air, he turned his head to look. The one who had thrown him was none other than Andre, who had somehow appeared behind him. The Archbishop Evil Spirit also appeared near Alka’s previous position, attacking the spot he had just occupied.

As Andre threw Alka aside, a Scepter smashed down on Andre’s own hand. His brow furrowed, and his left hand trembled. The blow stung his soul, making it unbearable.

At some point, Andre and the Archbishop’s battle had shifted from the front line to the middle of the group. The Archbishop, now behind Chadite, held his Scepter and struck towards her. Fortunately, Chadite executed several gymnastic flips and barely dodged it.

BOOM!

With a loud shout, Andre swung his right fist at the Archbishop Evil Spirit’s soul form. Upon impact, the Archbishop Evil Spirit’s soul form seemed to shudder, rippling like the surface of water. His movements became noticeably slower, but he hadn’t suffered major harm.

Alka landed on the ground. Before he could stand, a dark green blade slashed down. He immediately rolled, yet was still struck on his left leg.

”AH!” Alka cried out in pain. The spot on his left leg where he was struck showed no physical wound. But the pain that shot through him was nearly unbearable. So this is the agony of having your soul wounded!

Fortunately, the pain came and went quickly. His clarity returning, Alka, still half-kneeling, drew a blue card from his hand and flung it out. The card sliced past the Knight Evil Spirit’s side and exploded. The resulting spray transformed into four Water Chains that wrapped around the Evil Spirit. Only then did he manage to grab a nearby pillar to stand up.

Far away, Gami, clinging to the wall, shouted: ”Alka, take the sword! Use the sword to cleave them!”

Hearing this, Alka turned around and found the column he was leaning on was the stone pedestal holding the Sword of Love. He had just been tossed in this direction by Andre.

Looking at the Sword of Love before him, Alka fell silent.

”Hurry! The Sword of Love should be able to guide their souls!”

Hearing Gami and seeing everyone else constantly dodging attacks, Alka gritted his teeth and reached out. When his fingertip touched the Spiral grip of the Sword of Love, he felt no burning pain. Instead, it was a cold metallic chill.

Feeling that sensation, Alka immediately placed his palm over it and then tightened his grip. Still, no burning pain. Yet, the moment he tightened his grip, Alka felt his entire soul, his spirit, even his physical body, being pulled into the blade of the Sword of Love.

「The surroundings became pitch black.」

Alka felt as if he still had a body, but also as if his body had disappeared. He felt like he was now just a cloud of mist, without hands or feet, not even vision or hearing. He could only feel himself; only feel the darkness surrounding him.

A crack opened in the darkness, and light flooded in, forming a scene above him.

A bronze dagger hilt engraved with wheat ears appeared in the scene. The dagger’s blade was slender, more like that of a long dirk, piercing through the back of someone’s heart.

「The scene changed again.」

On the pitch-black sea under the moonlight, a fleet raced across the ocean. Leading the fleet was a massive ship. Its bow was sculpted with a hungry wolf statue, and its fully raised sails were dyed black. At the top of the lookout tower’s flag was a distinct pattern: a black Scythe impaling a skull.

At the bow, a male figure in the night clutched his captain’s hat.

「Once more, the scene shifted.」

A city was ablaze in the dead of night. Its wide city gates, streets, and the beautiful surrounding gardens were illuminated by the raging fire. This pristine, beautiful city burned amid raging flames, filled with anguished screams and cries. The white walls were riddled with holes and stained with blood, with fragments of dismembered bodies scattered upon them.

「The darkness receded.」

Alka regained his vision, feeling his soul and his essence return to his body.

A warm touch arose in his hand.
